Max Schreck-inspired necrophiliac and dancing zombies.

"Le Necrophile" tells the story of eccentric loner with necrophiliac tendencies. He lives in a darkened apartment and eats cockroaches with his long chameleon-like tongue. One day his relatives died and he is forced to take care of a little girl.So begins strange relationship between aging necrophiliac and lovely blonde girl.Bizarre and a little bit twisted French horror short which surprisingly lacks graphic gore. The film is obviously inspired by silent cinema and Tim Burton fairy movies. The only controversial aspect of it is an obviously very young Ilona Szabo lying semi-naked and waiting for her necrophiliac guardian. All the scenes of necrophilia are off-screen.6 cockroaches out of 10.

Warning: Spoilers
"Le nécrophile" or "The Necrophile" is a French short film written and directed by Philippe Barassat. It is his most recent of several short film works and at 37 minutes a relatively long one. The cast does not include any actors here that you have heard of, especially not if you origin from outside France. I personally think the idea to make a tribute to the old days of film, the times that were packed with silent film and horror elements, is an interesting one, but the outcome is unfortunately pretty underwhelming. It is a bit of everything without really elaborating properly or convincingly in any of the areas, be it horror, drama, mystery or crime. One of the few good things here is that they used enough subtitles to understand the plot and that is something many old filmmakers could have done as well. Anyway, I never really developed great interest in the story or characters here and the click bait title admittedly isn't doing the project any favors either. It's not a failure, but also not goof enough to let me recommend it, especially if it sacrifices focus for the inclusion of several pointless characters. Watch something else instead.
