Honestly, there's a good chance that many would agree that Vince Vaughn hasn't made a truly funny comedy since The Break-Up in 2006, and if you don't think that was worthy, then Wedding Crashers in 2005 would likely be the definitive answer. I'm sorry to say that his two holiday comedies Fred Claus and Four Christmases and romantic comedies Couples Retreat and The Dilemma just didn't do anything for me at all. However, with his turn in The Watch (formerly Neighborhood Watch) this summer, it looks like he could be bringing laughs again, and now Variety says he has another comedy on the way with Starbuck. Vaughn will play the main character, a middle-aged man whose life is turned upside down when he learns he has fathered 533 children through sperm donation. When a few hundred of the children express an irrepressible need to meet their father, the donor, codenamed Starbuck, ...

Kensi and Deeks shippers must have been jumping for joy with the opening of NCIS: Los Angeles tonight. Though there had to be others like me saying, "No, no, no. It has to be for a case. Undercover mission ... please!"
And, then ... Phew. (I didn't see any previews, so I didn't know they were undercover.)
In the end, there was something for both fans that want these partners to get romantic and also for those who don't. I fall in the later group, but this episode may have moved me a little more towards understanding why people want them as a pair. Kensi and Deeks possess some amazing chemistry.
Their bickering was so true that it seemed like they really were married. But, while it was hilarious to watch, it doesn't necessarily form a solid basis for a relationship. They work well together as partners; that's how it should remain.

Once Vince Vaughn.s finished with The Watch, the sci-fi summer comedy that recently switched its name from Neighborhood Watch, the swift-talking comedian might have baby-daddy issues as the star of Starbuck, a comedy that has nothing to do with the massive national coffee chain. Once Starbucks gets a hold of the premise, they might want to bring up a preventative lawsuit. DreamWorks is behind Starbuck, which is a remake of a French-Canadian hit about a man (Vaughn) who finds out he has fathered 533 children through his donation to a sperm bank. .All these beautiful babies, Mikey. That.s what I see.. The plot twists when hundreds of the children express a desire to meet their biological father, forcing Vaughn.s character . whose donor codename is .Starbuck. . to decide if he wants to step forward. Once upon a time, there was a movie called Neighborhood Watch. It was developed way back in 2008 by producer Shawn Levy as a "PG-13 kind of Ghostbusters-y thing," written by Jared Stern. Excitement reigned because funnyman Will Ferrell was set to star in what was sure to be a family-friendly laugh riot with major box office potential.
Then, as can only happen in Hollywoodland, the project collapsed, executives were sad and the powers that be thought it wise to bring in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to do a rewrite — and boy did they. Under Rogen and Goldberg's watch, PG-13 fluff morphed into puerile hard-r tripe. And there was muh rejoicing.
Of course, this new "script" attracted big stars. Soon, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Billy Crudup, Rosemarie DeWitt, Will Forte and Jonah Hill had signed onto this Akiva Schaffer-directed tale of a paranoid suburban neighborhood watch group who stumble...

Neighborhood Watch, an alien invasion comedy, will now be called The Watch to avoid any association with the shooting of the teenager in Florida
Ben Stiller's Neighborhood Watch is to be re-named to avoid association with the Trayvon Martin shooting. Following the removal of trailers and posters advertising the sci-fi comedy in Florida, the film will now be called The Watch, according to the BBC. The name change was put in place to prevent the film being linked with the death of 17-year-old Martin, who was shot and killed by Neighbourhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman in February. Zimmerman, who is on bail after being charged with second degree murder, claimed he was acting in self-defence.
"As the subject matter of this alien invasion comedy bears no relation whatsoever to the recent tragic events in Florida, the studio altered the title to avoid any accidental or unintended misimpression that it might,...

Kensi and Deeks ... married?
On next week's episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, the young partners head to the L.A. suburbs as a married couple for an undercover operation, where it appears Deeks gets a little too into his role as Kensi's "husband."
Executive Producer Shane Brennan teased this episode a while back, and from the looks of this brief preview, it will be worth the wait for fans of the dynamic duo and the show in general. There's so much potential.

Just yesterday the first official image for Ang Lee.s The Life of Pi came online. The picture featured a Indian teenager with a turban standing on one end of a lifeboat, with a roaring Bengal tiger on the other. For those that haven.t read Yann Martel.s novel, or are at least not familiar with the story, it could have been perceived as a very odd still. Luckily, I.ve just come back from watching the first footage from the film and I.m happy to explain what it.s all about. As mentioned in my previous post about Neighborhood Watch, this morning.s big CinemaCon event was the 20th Century Fox presentation where the studio previewed every single one of their 2012 movies. While some of the material was old (all of the Prometheus stuff shown has already made its way online), but the event was concluded with...

Today, 20th Century Fox held their CinemaCon 2012 panel. Amidst debuting new footage from Taken 2 and Neighborhood Watch, Fox Co-Chairman/Chief Creative Officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment Tom Rothman hinted that we may be soon see a sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a reboot of the popular franchise released last year to critical acclaim. A list of movies that the studio is planning on beginning production on this year has been revealed. One of those movies mentioned were the Apessequel. Also on the list were The Wolverine and Robocalypse. Coming Soon speculates that Fox may schedule the sequel as its third summer 2013 movie, or the more open fall/winter slate. Additionally, the studio hasn't confirmed that director Rupert Wyatt will be returning (despite his postponing work on Londongrad in case Fox decides to fast track Apes 2), and star Andy Serkis may be busy working on The...

Civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton was a guest on Jimmy Fallon's chat show last night. Sharpton has been speaking out on the Trayvon Martin and has pleaded with supporters to remain peaceful and let them work the justice system to find resolution to the February shooting of the teenager in Sanford. At a press conference in downtown Washington a few days ago, Sharpton said "Trayvon's name must not be tarnished" by violence -- in either words or deeds -- in response to the killing of Martin by Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman. "We are not in the business of revenge. We are in the business of justice," said Sharpton, speaking at a convention for the National Action Network, his...

The summer movie season is only a few weeks away. Indeed, in some parts of the world, it's already underway. Due to the Euro 2012 football tournament, the rest of the world are getting several films, including "The Avengers" and "Prometheus" early, and many territories were unlucky enough to get "Battleship" in their multiplexes last week. But things kick off in the U.S. on May 4th with "The Avengers," with roughly one massive tentpole following every week after that.
As such, EW's annual summer movie preview issue has landed, and there's new images from all kinds of big movies included. As you might imagine, it's action heavy stuff, with new stills of Jeremy Renner in "The Bourne Legacy"; Arnie; Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone finally kicking ass together in "The Expendables 2"; Dwayne Johnson firing away in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and Benjamin Walker all getting his fight on in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Surprising upsets and hard-fought battles could be found in the first rounds of our March Movie Madness Tournament, but your votes have narrowed down this summer’s blockbusters to an Elite Eight of heavy-hitting competitors. We had to say goodbye to a few frontrunners, most notably Snow White and the Huntsman (which lost to Men In Black 3), The Dictator (which fell to Rock of Ages) and Neighborhood Watch (which was trumped by Total Recall). Of course, we’re trying to figure out which crowd-pleaser will emerge triumphant at the end of Summer 2012. To do so, we ranked 32 anticipated titles into four Regions, then further ranked those titles into seeds numbering 1 through 8. Each day, a new Region opened to voting. What my followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ saw today: • Oh, and this is *precious*: "The conservative media watchdog, whose efforts are usually focused on the small screen, claims that 'showing unrated content is a threat to the continued viability of the [movie] ratings system.'" Exactly. The MPAA is unviable. Please, let us derail it. A Bully Ban? Parents Television Council Asks Theaters Not to Show Unrated Version of Documentary • Basically, it's because they're bullies themselves. But we knew that already. Why the MPAA doesn’t want your kid to see “Bully” • Probably a good move on Fox's part. The comments following this piece are atrocious, however. The Trayvon Martin incident has raised a lot of controversial questions about racism and whether Geraldo Rivera ever actually listens to the words he’s saying, but if you live in the totally myopic world of pop-culture reporting that we do, there was another: How would the killing of a teen by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman affect Fox’s July release of Neighborhood Watch, a comedy about four guys who similarly take the laws into their own hands, and which is still called that? As it turns out, Fox recognizes that now might not be the moment to splash ...

Edi Gathegi (Twilight) is set to co-star opposite Kyle Bornheimer in ABC’s comedy pilot White Van Man. The single-camera is a blue collar ensemble based on the British format and centers on Jack (Kyle Bornheimer) who is forced to put his dreams on hold in order to take over the family handyman business from his father Tony (J.K. Simmons). Gathegi will play Darren, one of Tony’s workers. Also cast in the pilot is Johnny Pemberton as Tony’s teen nephew. The series takes its name from the UK phrase that describes the stereotype for drivers of light commercial vehicles, often self-employed or owning small businesses such as handyman services. The ABC Studios/Mark Gordon Co.-produced adaptation was written by Bobby Bowman. Michael Fresco is directing. Gathegi, repped by ICM & Framework, recently starred in Tracy Lett’s play Superior Donuts at the Geffen Playhouse. Pemberton, repped by CAA,...

Tonight on White Collar: True Blood's Joe Manganiello Guest Stars
White Collar heads a little closer to home for Peter (Tim DeKay) again as some criminal activity might be brewing in his neighborhood. Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) overhears a suspicious conversation but is she overreacting thanks to her recent personal experience or is it more insidious than this? We have plenty of sneak peeks below to tease the crime that Manganiello might commit. Warning spoilers ahead.
Elizabeth overhears the conversation as Peter has left a scanner at home which means that the exact location of this discussion is unknown at first, but she does know it is someone who is a convicted criminal. This leads them to True Blood's Joe Manganiello who is ex-convict Ben Ryan, who lives in their neighborhood.
As the sneak peeks below show, the time and location of the crime that Elizabeth believes will happen appear to be incorrect.

In the past year, Chris Columbus has become attached to a couple different films as producer and possible director (Hello Ghost, Percy Jackson 2 ) and now he's got one more. He's in talks to direct The Secret Lives of Road Crews, which sounds like the title of a drenched-in-irony memoir, but is really a comedic action script by Kevin Lund and T.J. Scott that involves subterranean monsters and the men assembled to combat them. Deadline [1] says the film would be about "a clandestine group of road crew workers who are the last line of defense against a subterranean alien race." So it's sort of a companion piece to Neighborhood Watch? Sounds that way. The script has been kicking around as a spec for a couple years, and ended up at Paramount after the Dreamworks/Paramount split. It's still at the studio, which put Craig Mazin on rewrite duties some time ago.

Chris Columbus is abandoning magic children for the present (sorry, Percy Jackson), but that doesn’t mean he’s abandoning the world of the supernatural. He’s just switching gears into action comedy, and a more mature crowd by examining “The Secret Lives of Road Crews.”The title sounds like some reality show that would be on the Discovery or History Channel would air, but it’s not. Instead, Deadline says it’s about “a clandestine group of road crew workers who are the last line of defense against a subterranean race.” Think “Men in Black” meets…well, Ice Road Truckers, I guess.“Road Crews” has been around the block a few times, and was one of the properties lost in the custody battle between DreamWorks and Paramount. (Paramount won.) Though Columbus is still negotiating to direct, he’s already been tweaking the script, and is putting out the call...

In July, it seemed like Kevin Costner was unstoppable, having lined up high-profile roles in the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel and director Quentin Tarantino's latest movie, Django Unchained.
Described as a "Southern" — blending together elements of the Western genre and exploitation movies — Django Unchained follows a freed slave (Jamie Foxx) who trains with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) in order to reclaim his wife from a plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). Coster was reportedly playing a "vile and sadistic trainer of slaves," a departure from his usual roles.
But according to a Tweet from Variety writer Justin Kroll, Costner is no longer involved.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis have been officially confirmed for The Expendables 2. Deadline reports that the two are set to take on “substantial” roles opposite Sylvester Stallone who is also returning. Still no confirmed word that Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris are joining, so keep dreaming folks. Simon West is directing the sequel with filming to begin in October; original cast members Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews are expected to return.
Anthony Hopkins returns to the serial killer genre once again with Solace says Variety. He will play a former doctor with psychic abilities who works for the FBI and gets drawn into a serial killer case. No director yet, Sean Bailey and Ted Griffin wrote the first draft of the script, which was then rewritten by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man).
Chris Tucker plans to end acting hiatus with role in The Silver Linings Playbook Variety reports.

Chris Tucker's last role was in 2007's Rush Hour 3, but the actor-comedian is looking to make a comeback with roles in two upcoming movies: director David O. Russell's follow-up to The Fighter, The Silver Linings Playbook, and 20th Century Fox's upcoming comedy Neighborhood Watch.
Variety reports that Tucker is in talks for The Silver Linings Playbook, based on the 2008 novel by Matthew Quick. The movie follows Bradley Cooper as a former high school teacher who is released from a mental institution, moves in with his mother, and tries to win back his ex-wife but falls for his neighbor (Jennifer Lawrence) instead. Robert De Niro will play Cooper's father, while Tucker will play Danny, Cooper's friend in the mental institution. Production will begin this fall, with Tucker likely joining once he finishes his stand-up tour in November.

I always believed Chris Tucker was bound for a greatness, after his unforgettable role playing Smokey in Ice Cube's comedy Friday (1995). Other than starring in a few Rush Hour movies as Jackie Chan's wise-cracking sidekick and in bit roles (Fifth Element, Dead Presidents), Tucker has remained an outsider in the movie biz.
I'm glad to pass on the news, via Variety that Tucker is blazing a comeback trail of sorts, and is now up for parts in the comedy Neighborhood Watch and David O. Russell's The Silver Linings Playbook.

Chris Tucker, absent from Hollywood for half a decade, may finally be set to make his return. Variety reports that the actor has two potential projects on his plate, including The Silver Linings Playbook and Neighborhood Watch . Directed by David O. Russell, the former is set to star Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. Based on the novel by Matthew Quick, the plot is officially described as follows: Pat Peoples, the endearing narrator of this touching and funny debut, is down on his luck. The former high school history teacher has just been released from a mental institution and placed in the care of his mother. Not one to be discouraged, Pat believes he has only been on the inside for a few months..rather than four years..and plans on reconciling with...

* Jonah Hill is reportedly circling a role in the suddenly very active comedy, Neighborhood Watch. The catch is that Hill wants a bit more money than usual, considering his upcoming flick, Moneyball, is testing extremely well right now. I'm sure he's smellin' himself right now over his massive weight loss, which quite frankly makes him look sorta creepy, but Hill no doubt feels like a super...

As wife to Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) on USA’s White Collar, Tiffani Thiessen’s character, Elizabeth, is no stranger to being part of the boys club that dominates the show. But that’s the way the actress likes it.
“To play a little more with the guys — as I say — has been quite fun this season,” she says. And it’s easier to be part of the action these days — last season she spent most of her time pregnant and in front of a green screen pre-filming scenes. Not fun, she says.

A rep for Vince Vaughn confirms that he is in negotiations to join Ben Stiller in the comedy Neighborhood Watch. The long-gestating film, to which Will Ferrell was once attached, is said to revolve around a group of men who form a “neighborhood watch” primarily to get time away from their families, but actually have to do something when they uncover a plot to destroy the world.
Vaughn and Stiller have never been on the same side in a film. They were full-on nemeses in Dodgeball and Starsky & Hutch, they were on rival news teams in Anchorman and estranged brothers in Zoolander.

After struggling to hold on to actors and directors for a long time, it looks like sci-fi comedy Neighborhood Watch is suddenly enjoying some real momentum. Just a couple of weeks ago, the film scored Ben Stiller to star, and now his old Dodgeball/Starsky & Hutch co-star Vince Vaughn is in negotiations to sign on alongside him.The plot finds Stiller as a big city bloke who figures he’s in for a life of crushing boredom when he moves out to the suburbs. But he gets far more than he ever expected when he begrudgingly joins the local neighbourhood watch (spelt in the correct British fashion now we don’t have to write it as the title!), as the local area is affected not by burglars, but by alien invaders…Weirdly, even though the film has been in development for years (Will Ferrell was attached to star at one point), when it does arrive,...

Our disappointment with Vince Vaughn has been well documented. For the past decade or so he’s been phoning it in with films like “The Break Up,” “Fred Claus,” “Couples Retreat” and this year’s “The Dilemma,” but it looks like he's finally headed back into our good books. Earlier this year he lined up a part in Stephen Frears' "Lay The Favorite," he's got Jason Bateman joining him for "Insane Laws" and now he's finally pairing up with an old friend he hasn't worked with in seven years. THR reveals that Vaughn will join old pal Ben Stiller in "Neighborhood Watch."…...

After languishing in development limbo for years, the prep for the comedy Neighborhood Watch continued to heat up at Fox with Vince Vaughn in talks to join the movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vaughn looked to re-team with his Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story co-star Ben Stiller as dads who join a neighborhood watch in order to get time away from their families but stumble upon a plot to destroy the world. Earlier, Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon writer Akiva Schaffer signed on to direct Stiller and Vaughn in the sci-fi comedy.

Ben Stiller and Saturday Night Live veteran Akiva Schaffer are looking to team up on new science fiction comedy film, called Neighborhood Watch.
Ben Stiller was considering a remake of The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, but it looks like Neighborhood Watch could come first now that they're in talks with director Akiva Schaffer, known for his work in The Lonely Island and SNL. This would be Schaffer's sophomore directing effort, having helmed Hot Rod back in 2007. He's best known as part of the trio The Lonely Island, who's had viral video success with "Lazy Sunday" and a slew of other shorts.

I know this is supposed to be a Game of Thrones recap, but I must ask: is anyone else watching The Killing on AMC? I am, and it’s on right before Game of Thrones.
It’s one of those shows where the whole season is devoted to solving one murder. Weirdly, this week’s episode had nothing to do with the murder itself – it was a side-trek where we learn a little bit about the pasts of the two very flawed characters who are trying to solve the murder.
And it was amazing.
I confess it was so good that tonight’s episode of Game of Thrones, which was perfectly fine, may have suffered a little by comparison. It’s a little like Cougar Town, which I think I might like if I didn’t watch it after Modern Family, which is a thousand times better written (and much,...

Let's get the quick micro-review/recap of last night's episode out of the way first: Sally got tutored by a hair-band ghost and might soon be able to touch Danny. Josh, for some reason, got involved with the Neighborhood Watch group (and met some funny new characters along the way). And Aidan was stalked by a pervy ex-gay lover man who believed Aidan killed his dad many years ago (he did).
Things seemed a bit busier in this episode than they did in the two-part opener, and the result was a diluted emotional punch, as each storyline wasn't given the proper screen time. However, I'm still enjoying the heck out of this series. It's playful and bloody, just how I like it. I've also come to the conclusion that both the... More >>...

This week’s episode of Being Human,“Something to Watch Over Me”, saw the Syfy remake take fledgling steps away from the source material and for the most part, it worked out well. However, as comfortable as the three protagonists are becoming in their roles, their stories existed largely in total separate spheres, arguably a necessary evil, but one which contributes to a feeling that the show still lacks the cohesiveness upon which good ensemble pieces thrive.
Aiden’s storyline confronts him with the evils that he’s committed in the past. Bishop’s major beef with Aiden is the fact he chooses to live against his vampire nature, refusing to feed on humans and create more “family” member. And the simple fact is that Aiden has not always been so restrained. He’s committed atrocities in the past that have earned him a name among the vampire community which...

Harold Smith, who police say killed publicist Ronni Chasen in a botched robbery, was a native New Yorker, drug abuser-and fearless bicycle thief. Ann Louise Bardach reports on his dark past.
Last Wednesday, the Beverly Hills Police Department held a press conference outside its ode-to-God building, in a neighborhood ringed with Dr. Seuss palm trees, to render its verdict in the murder of publicist Ronni Chasen: Harold Martin Smith, 43, was a single gunman, acting alone, who killed Chasen in her black E350 Mercedes coupe in "a robbery gone bad." His getaway vehicle: a bicycle.
