COLOGNE, Germany -- Leading German film producer Constantin Film has set up a new subsidiary to handle the development and production of German television series, Constantin announced Thursday. The subsidiary, Constantin Television, will handle production of Constantin's current TV slate, which includes such shows as Sat.1 comedies Janitor Krause and Typical Sophie as well as the development and acquisition of future small-screen projects. Producers Robin von der Leyen and Kerstin Schmidbauer will head up the new outfit. Constantin Film production chief Martin Moszkowicz said that, in addition to the developing original TV formats, Constantin Television will focus on adapting successful Constantin film properties. The model is Pro7 comedy Bewegte Maenner, which is set in the Cologne gay community and is based on Constantin's 1994 hit comedy Der Bewegte Mann (Maybe, Maybe Not).
