Troma stumbles
deheor11 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I am a hardcore troma fan. From Toxie to Terror firmer there is no companies whose films I look forward to more than these guys. Hell, I even enjoyed the chaotic Tales from the Crapper but this one I'm afraid just does not work.

After three men head out to the desert to look for a local legend (and realize that there is more to it than myth) one of them gets transformed mentally and becomes a woman killer. The fact that the slasher is also a midget becomes the one novelty that this film provides. Although the sight of the little guy snarling and swinging a knife is good for a few laughs it is not enough to sustain the film. To provide slasher fodder the film-makers give us a group of women who are taking a vacation in that same place. Through a remarkable coincidence not only is the sister of one of the victims among the party goers but the killer dwarf who has been slaughtering people in a nearby city hitches a ride with one of his potential prey and ends up at the same spot.

This film features some sophomoric sex sequences including the rape of the midget and some necrophilia thrown in but if anyone has seen a troma film before they expect that sort of silliness and are not offended but that seems to be the films major problem. They simply did not go far enough. The elements were there for a fun, insane, terror firmer-like romp but sadly the finished product just kind of sits there lifeless.

As a zero budget film the acting is very hit and miss. Felissa Rose (sleepaway camp) was better at the low key moments but seemed to crank up the histrionics just a bit too much. Adam Glasser (Anal Surprise Party) seems as natural in this film as he is on the terrific series Family business and of course its always nice to see the great Brinke Stevens get another role even if it is nothing more than a cameo. Like many troma offerings the cameos lift the film over some dull stretches with Brinke's work being matched by Ron Jeremy and the brilliant acting skills of the remarkable Lloyd Kaufman.

This is one of those films that seem to fall in the middle. The killer midget idea is cool but the killings are so poorly done that the novelty does not hold. The vacationing girls are cute but the directer can't seem to work up the enthusiasm to make a half-decent exploitation film. The cameos are fun but they can't justify some weak performances. In the end I recommend passing on this one unless of course you are a Troma completest but if you stumble across it on a friends shelf and you can borrow it than go ahead. At least it is short.

By the way, avoid the commentary track on the DVD. It is a dull, one joke offering recorded by the killer. If you can make it through more than ten minutes than you are a far more patient person than I am.

Killer dwarf and mad doctor vs. bikini girls
capkronos4 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Three schmucks wanting to check out a desert cave run into a delirious, nameless mad doctor (Ford Austin) instead. The doctor slaughters two of them, rips out and eats their guts, drinks their blood and then ties down and anally rapes the third guy - a dwarf named Craig (Mighty Mike Murga) - to give him "the gift that keeps on giving." I guess that gift is some kind of virus that causes insanity because Craig then begins sneaking into young women's apartments and murdering them. The sister of one of his victims, Tara (Felissa Rose), is trying to get over both the death of her sister and breakup of her relationship, so her friend Kerri (Sarah Rosenberg) drags her along on a camping trip. They meet up with six or seven other girls, immediately strip down to their bathing suits, go swimming, start partying and are attacked and killed by both the doctor and Craig (who hitches a ride there with a would-be victim). A couple of detectives (including porno actor Adam Glasser aka Seymore Butts) are on the case.

According to the trivia section, this Troma release was shot on video for just 1000 dollars. Nearly all of it was filmed in the daytime and most of it outdoors so the filmmakers don't have to worry much about things such as art direction and lighting. It's also very, very stupid in that amateurish we-know-this -is-awful-and-stupid -so-we-aren't-even- really-going-to-try kind of way. The only person who seems to be taking any of this seriously is lead actress Rose, who amusingly goes all out and tries to be as dramatic (and credible) as possible under the circumstance. Dead bodies move. Lines are flubbed. People mug for the camera. Lots of fake blood is flung around. Two girls go topless (and there's a mild lesbian scene that goes nowhere). Total screen time for guest stars Lloyd Kaufman (who seems to appear in every no budget horror made these days), Brinke Stevens and Ron Jeremy amounts to probably about five minutes. The camera-work and editing are frequently awful.

Every once in awhile something funny DOES actually happen, but it's hard not to laugh just a little watching a rabid dwarf clutching a knife chasing around bikini-clad girls who have a bad habit of always tripping and falling down. As the killer doctor, Austin is probably the best thing this film has going for it. The credited director is "Buck Jones Jr." NOT Fred Rosenberg as it currently says on IMDb. I think Jones/Rosenberg is an alias for Chris Watson, who's responsible for another terrible Troma release called ZOMBIEGEDDON (2003).

Here's Johnny!
lastliberal1 August 2008
This film used up women like Zrinka Domic quickly, with a psycho midget stabbing and screwing. That's after a pile of bloody body parts in the first 10 minutes.

At least the third blond (he only went after blonds) got to take a shower and show her titties before he struck. She escaped and ran out of the house in something that barely covered her snatch - after giving us a look at it twice during the fight.

He chases her to a party where nine girls in bikinis are getting sun. One of them is Felissa Rose, whose sister was killed by him and she gives us some of her great screams. Somehow he escapes and goes on a killing rampage and the blood starts flowing.

The Doctor (Ford Austin) that created the pile of body parts also shows up and things get nasty. More screams from Felissa. To little avail as The Doctor must be protected.

Very little plot, little skin despite the numerous babes, lesbianism only hinted at, but lots and lots of blood - and Felissa Rose.

I didn't know how bad a movie could be until I saw this one.
debi-1316 June 2006
This was the worst movie that I have ever seen. And I am a person who enjoys b-rated movies. I have been skeptical enough to look at movies, even after people have warned me of how bad it was, because I looked at the type of person that was viewing the film. I felt that there are two sides to every story and so on. But this movie will make you feel as if you were mugged - if you had to cough up one penny to see it. My dog could make a better film. The acting sucked. The scenery was non-existent. The props were an after thought. The murder scenes were like what I did as a five year old with my playmates!!! I am NOT kidding. The only... only good thing is that the camera didn't cut off people's heads too often and the lighting was decent. Everything else about this film was HORRIBLE. You will be wasting precious moments of your life watching this stinker.

how do you select a negative score?

Warning: Spoilers
All I have to say is in the first 10 minutes a man "fouls" a midget.... and the midget is named Craig. Nothing good comes from renting this movie. I'm a fan of bad movies... but this .... this is the Godfather of crap movies. Oh and one more spoiler...Craig goes on to perform necrophilia..... Really this movie is pretty bad. And you might say its supposed to be because its a spoof..but this movie makes Leonard Part 6 look like an Oscar winner. The quality of production is painfully, and the camera action makes you dizzy.

Even lil jimmy norton would say they went to far...maybe --------------------------------------------------------- O&A xm202

A shame Warning: Spoilers
From the very beginning of this film you'll notice that the production value is LESS than a porn film. This looks like a home video. The storyline is, not only sloppy, but silly, and the general acting is absolutely horrific. NONE of the acting can amount to a Soap Opera, and that says a lot. There's no reason for pretty much anything that happens in this movie, and the actual murder scenes are terrible. It was kind of funny when the Doctor ate the organs and stuff, but it was really pretty sad. If you want to see a movie that has no purpose, extreme (yet pointless) cliché sexual content, possibly the worst filming ever, detectives beating up random people, and a midget serial killer... somehow you'll still be disappointed in this. It's not worth seeing.

This movie is amazing...
Schro19 June 2006
It's like watching a train wreck. You know you shouldn't watch but you continue to. I can't even sum up the plot for this movie because I don't think the creators know what that word means. This movie has: *A killer midget *A mad doctor who has some vague plan to take over the world *A midget killing and raping women(in that order) *A midget being raped *Several porn stars including... *Ron Jeremy with a plan to rob and violate some guys. I honestly don't know what they were thinking when they made this. I'm assuming it's a bunch of friends with $500 saying "let's go hire some porn stars so people might actually see this". Awful special effects, knife attacks are all off camera and look like the knife was swung about 2 feet away from the "victim". It seems like 90% of the entire movie was made up on the spot.

Bad, even by Troma's standards.
BA_Harrison7 September 2013
A cannibalistic doctor (Ford Austin, an actor with two makes of car as his name) turns a midget (Mighty Mike Murga) into a homicidal psycho who preys on a group of scantily clad women (whose number include Felissa Rose of Sleepaway Camp fame).

Even by Troma's standards, Slaughter Party is an utterly worthless piece of trash, a painfully bad, z-grade, shot-on-video horror flick that disproves the old movie adage that any film with dwarf sodomy can't be all bad.

There's lots of cheap gore and a smattering of female nudity on display, but godawful writing and direction from Fred Rosenberg and shocking performances all round (including terrible cameos from 80s scream queen Brinke Stevens, porn-stars Ron Jeremy and Adam Glasser, and Lloyd Kaufman) make this a real chore from start to finish.

Um.. Why Bother Watch This
YungRapunxel2122 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the worst films ever. Let me start with the graphics. Lets just say they remind me of 60's graphics. They are horrible. Next off, the actors and actresses. Untrained, unprofessional, and just horrible, along with the graphics. The concept -- worse than the graphics and the acting combined. ( this contains spoilers) A small man (a midget) who brutally kills all the women and trespassers in his area. Great concept, I know (ha ha.) MORE SPOILERS -- of the main 20 cast members, 2 survived, and 18 died brutally, all the women died. Two breast scenes.. The shower scene with the blonde and the brunette with a rather loose bra. Gag. Don't let teens or children watch this, don't even let yourself watch this. This is one gruesome, bloody, gory, film with no good purpose in the movie industry. Please, save your time.

Strange movie
barneyfife20028 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Slaughter Party starts out like any bad horror film. A few idiot guys step out of a car and go someplace where no one else dares to go. Then a midget steps out. For most of the film the midget is treated as if he is just another person and not a midget. Then he gets *&#$% and turns into a mad killer. Some real bad effects mixed with some pretty good effects (like the gore in the Ron Jeremy scene). The camera work is probably as good as any bad shot on video movie. The story is messy. The actors range from poor to almost good. Some of them seem to be there for a paycheck (the two detectives) while others seem to actual desire a career in acting (Felissa Rose, Ford Austin). If you're wanting to see a topless chick fight a killer midget, a mad doctor rape a little midget, girls in bikinis making out for no reason, or just random violence then this may be the film for you. If you're looking for something that will win an Oscar this year then this is NOT for you.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a masterpiece. Ignore everything you've heard from people telling you this movie is terrible or stupid.

The cinematography is unmatched, the acting is S tier. And the plot? Better than the bible.

This is a masterpiece, nay a GOD of cinema. If you haven't watched it you must watch it as soon as possible. Youtube was amazing enough to allow its godly presence to remain on there.

Watch it at least 6 times to fully grasp the masterful and complex plot.

This should be exclusive to royalty.

That Cigarette...my god...

What a twist.
