I found the film LORD HELP US inspirational with a sweet love story between two best friends. It was hilariously funny too! I highly recommend this film to any family member, it's appropriate for all age groups! The cast is perfect in all roles, from the pastor to the secretaries at the church. I found that the film is a bird's eye view of a culture in America that enriches us socially and leads us to a better understanding between races and ethnicities. The role of Mrs. Ortiz added the view that Hispanics may be afraid of African-Americans, or may fear them, by her hysterical display. However, since this is a satire, her actions were appropriate and very funny. It' nice to know we can still laugh at ourselves, while still respecting each other's cultures.

This under-promoted movie was a delightful surprise. Well-directed, charming, funny, sweet... and does the camera ever love Nadia Turner as "Kayla"! Hope to see more of this sexy and beautiful newcomer in future films. Also delightful were Joe Clair as the lovable loser "Jewels" and Johnny Brown as the Rev. Thomas's opportunistic brother, "Cephas." Bill Tolliver as the "Rev. Henry Thomas" brought dignity and pathos to his grieving character, and one would expect no less of this fine actor.
The out-takes on the DVD are worth watching. They give the viewer an insight into each actor's approach to their role, as well as a delightful glimpse into the camaraderie of this ensemble.
After renting the movie, I have now purchased it. I want to watch it again. Two thumbs way up.

"Lord Help Us" was a delicious, fun, romp of a comedy. The characters seem to play off each other very well. I am glad it was a comedy, because I was a little worried when I first heard the title. What a all star cast. Some old, some new. Johnny Brown from Good Times was a stand out for me. He played his character well. Margaret Avery was so-o good. Bill Toliver, never seen him before, but he was very good. Debra Wilson and Marion Ramsey were so funny, and Joe Clair and Nadia had such great chemistry on screen. Then there were so many cameos from Omar Gooding,Sy Richardson, John Pittman and surprise, Al Jarreau. Deezer Dee, Sam Sarpong, Amentha Dymally, all gave stellar performances. I had a good time watching it...very entertaining. I loved it! If you want to see a great feel good movie, this is it.

The movie got stronger scene by scene and I am already looking forward to seeing a sequel and prequel since the story line was just that good in my opinion.
You could really feel the love of the entire cast and production crew from the movie.
Buy the movie if you are interested in seeing a great story develop, include a few surprises, and make you feel inspired and encouraged about love, faith, and relationships.
Congratulations to former child actor Shavar Ross on his first feature film. Not every former child star can make a claim to his achievement and professionalism.
