It is revealed for the first time that Daphne Blake is of Scottish descent. There is a gag suggesting that her danger-prone routine is something that runs in the family.
This is the first direct-to-video Scooby-Doo movie to assemble all the main cast of What's New, Scooby-Doo? (2002). All previous DTVs had alternate Scoobys, Shaggys, Daphnes, and/or Velmas. Only Frank Welker as Fred was constant in all movies in the series at that point; in 2002 he began doubling as Scooby.
The Loch Ness Monster's design is almost identical to the Paleosaurus from The Giant Behemoth (1959), a film purchased by Warner Brothers.
