I stumbled across this one under the name Demonic on Netflix instant streaming just a few days ago. I was unaware of the more catchy title “Forest of the Damned” until after I had already seen the film. I like “Forest of the Damned” better. It’s makes the film stand out from the nameless masses of one word horror film titles, and classes it up a bit if you ask me.
It’s set in the United Kingdom, and centers around a road trip of an unlikely group. There’s the somewhat awkward but nice guy who just bought the van that’s a stretch from the shaggin’ wagons that have defined vans in horror movies in the past. It’s a Volkswagen, but we are in Europe. They tend to be more fuel efficiency conscience than Americans, so I didn’t think anything of it.

When we last left The Doctor, he was undergoing a tearful regeneration that would change him from a man who just happened to look like David Tennant to a man that just happened to look like Matt Smith. Almost that very instant, the tone of Doctor Who promised to shift. As the last moments of Russell T. Davies more dramatic “Lonely God” tenure were playing out, the start of Steven Moffat’s “Nutty Funster with A Past” began. Right from his first moment of existence, The Eleventh Doctor was setting us up for the man we’d come to know and love over the past couple of years. He would still have dour and serious moments and he’d still show us his darker edges from time to time. But indeed, a rediscovered sense of fun and adventure took place when Eleven began. Here now are the ten essential Doctor Who...

Storage 24 (2012) Prolific British writer, director, actor and more Noel Clarke returns in his 4th film of 2012, science fiction horror thriller “Storage 24”, directed by Johannes Roberts, helmer of a variety of other home grown shriekers including “F”, “Forest of the Damned” and “Hellbreeder”. Clarke (soon to be seen in the forthcoming “Star Trek into Darkness”) headlines and also co-wrote the film with supporting cast member Davie Fairbanks, their second collaboration of the year along with the utterly dire and merit-free wedding ‘comedy’ “The Knot”. Thankfully, the film is a very different and much more entertaining proposition indeed, and following a successful run in domestic cinemas now lands on region 2 Blu Ray and DVD through Universal, coming with a reasonable clutch of special features including docs on the production and effects, plus video cast video diaries for those who care. Clarke stars as Charlie, a rather dull and depressed young...

As Americans, we grow up with a few seemingly inborn values (similar to Robocop's directives) ... bigger is better, faster is better and if one is good, several is great (sometimes referred to as 'The More The Merrier' Philosophy). Well, some of our UK brethren have obviously gotten on board with these ideals and applied them to horror. The result? Slasher House...a film with one girl and four killers. I don't like her chances.
Starring Eleanor James as the unfortunate lead character, Red, Slasher House plants our heroine right in the middle of an abandoned mental asylum. (How do these things keep turning up abandoned? We've really got to do some research here and get some more competent people running these nut houses. Please get me Amadeus Arkham and Drs. Harleen Quinzel and Jonathan Crane to handle this). To make things worse, the place isn't completely abandoned. Stalking...

Roadkill, part of Syfy's fan-favorite "Maneater" series, hits DVD this coming August 16th from Rhi Entertainment and Vivendi Entertainment. Read on for a look at the cover art.
Roadkill (review here) revisits the well-used premise of a group of young people heading out for a weekend of fun and partying, only for it to go horribly wrong when they run afoul of backwoods locals. Eliza Bennet (Inkheart, Nanny McPhee), Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil: Afterlife, Lake Placid 3), and Stephen Rea (V for Vendetta, Citizen X, and Oscar nominated Best Actor for The Crying Game) star in this creature feature from director Johannes Roberts (When Evil Calls, Forest of the Damned) and writer Rick Suvalle ("V.I.P.").

We first told you about Blood + Roses way back in 2008. Never let it be said we don't keep tabs on things around here for ya! The toothy little vampire flick is available now in the States, and all you have to do to see it is order yourself a copy!
From the Press Release
Blood + Roses, the new British vampire flick from Simon Aitken (one of the directors of the forthcoming Portmanteau horror, Habeas Corpus) and Independent Runnings, is now available to buy exclusively from Amazon.com.
The story is about Martin (Kane John Scott) and his wife, Jane, (Marysia Kay), who are taking some time off, trying to put the past behind them. But when they get to their holiday cottage, they find that they're got little love left for each other. Jane attracts the attentions of another man, Seth (Benjamin Green), a vampire who sees something that he wants in Jane.

It comes as no surprise that the trailer for Rhi Entertainment's Roadkill would quickly pop up online once Syfy announced the Stephen Rea-starring monster movie's April 23rd premiere date. More surprising is that this Syfy movie about hit & run, gypsy curses, and a giant bird of prey doesn't look too shabby.
Kate and her brother, Joel, have gathered their five best friends for a scenic Rv road trip to their high school reunion. But their cross-country adventure is about to take an unexpected turn for the worst when an ancient curse takes wing by way of a massive creature. It’s called the Simuroc, and this gigantic bird of prey has found the perfect, helpless quarry in Kate and company. Stranded in the backwoods of the predator’s territory, there’s little chance for escape.
I really don't think the title Roadkill suits a movie with a premise like that.

Know what we like about cities? They have big buildings, lots of people, and more importantly, we're not isolated from the outside world out in the sticks with the chance of demons, deformed inbred hillbillies, or flesh-eating mutants waiting to mangle us behind every tree. Still, the fresh air is quite alluring.
Below you'll find the first trailer and a Nsfw naughty image from Lonely Crow Productions' sequel to Forest of the Damned, titled aptly enough Forest of the Damned 2, aka Demonic 2.
Ernest Riera's terror tale tells the story of what happens ... "When four couples travel to a remote island for a swingers weekend, Lucy's biggest fear was that it would ruin her marriage; she didn't realize that it could cost her her life, too."

In the run-up to the release of horror movie, F, we chat to writer and director Johannes Roberts about filmmaking, casting and the concept of Jaws in a school...
The first time Johannes Roberts name first came to my attention was several years ago, when the trailer for his film Forest Of The Damned, was sent to me by a friend under the email heading "Tom Savini vs. naked vampire chicks!", which, obviously, garnered interest.
Not long afterwards he happened to come to my place of work to talk to the students about low budget filmmaking, which is topical, as his latest film, F, is set in an educational establishment and inspired by his experiences of it.
The interview took place a few months ago, before F had been picked up for cinematic distribution, but which now marks his first big screen break. The fil, has since garnered a lot...

Forest of the Damned and Hellbreeders director Johannes Roberts (pictured above right) has just premiered his latest film F, at this years FrightFest to rapturous applause (and rightly so). And whilst the film went down a storm with attendees, it was news of his next project which peaked my attention…
During the post-film Q&A Roberts announced that he and F actress Eliza Bennett has flown in from Ireland where they are shooting a, and I quote:
Giant bird movie… involving a gypsy curse.
Now, whilst there’s nothing confirmed anywhere, the only giant bird movie that has been announced as entering production is Roadkill, a Syfy channel original movie written by Rick Suvalle (Astroboy), about a group of friends who take a scenic Rv road trip to their high-school reunion. Their cross-country adventure takes a decidedly unexpected turn when an ancient Gypsy curse takes wing by way of a giant flesh-eating bird of prey.

News fresh from FrightFest where the weekend of horror is just getting started. Craig Skinner is our man at the event and will be reporting daily as well as reviewing as many films as humanly possible.
About ten minutes ago he got out of the Q&A session with the director and cast of F, a school bound horror which has just received its world premiere at the festival, and he told me that director Johannes Roberts revealed a few details on his next project.
Roberts is perhaps best known for his 2005 film Forest of the Damned and his Evil Clown horror Hellbreeders and following F, he is to set sail for Ireland to direct what he referred to as a ‘Giant Bird’ film for Us TV. Immediately the name of Us network SyFy came to mind, along with flashes of The Asylum’s MegaShark and Fat Octopus (or whatever...

Deadline discovered today that Optimum, the UK distribution arm of Studio Canal, is set to acquire Johannes Roberts' low-budget horror movie F (first announced here on Bloody Disgusting), and plans to release the shocker this autumn. From the director of Forest of the Damned, the pic follows a group of teachers who must defend themselves from a gang of murderous kids when their school comes under siege after hours. Inside you'll find an extremely bloody image, along with to more from the film starring David Schofield, Eliza Bennett and Ruth Gemmell. "The hoods themselves are played by Parkour specialists - the stuff they do is crazy, darting around up in the rafters in the dark amongst the empty classrooms and corridors - it's really freaky stuff. The other teachers are played by Emma Cleasby (Dog Soldiers) Ruth Gemmell (Fever Pitch), Juliet Aubrey (Constant Gardener, Primeval), Roxanne Mckee (Hollyoaks)."...
