At the part when Ichigo and Momoko are having lunch together, Momoko is holding a pink book. The title reads "How to be a Lolita" in Japanese.
"Himiko" is the name of Japan's first "historical" Empress. Himeko was reported in Chinese histories as the ruler of Japan during their Wei dynasty, dying in 248 AD. Being a woman ruler and priestess (as reported by the Chinese), she is something of a feminist icon in Japan. Also, like the Himiko in the film, she is believed by some to be mythical.
The fashion company featured in the film, BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT, is an actual Lolita dress company based in the Shibuya neighborhood of Tokyo.
Almost all of the outfits Momoko wears are from Baby, The Stars Shine Bright. The only items that aren't are a few minor accessories and mainly her shoes. Obviously her school uniform also wasn't made by Baby, The Stars Shine Bright, same goes for the dress she wears when they go to Pachinko the second time, this is by Metamorphose, Temps De Fille.
As of October 2005, the film has played at five international film festivals: the Los Angeles Film Festival, the New York Asian Film Festival, the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and the Hawaii International Film Festival. The film was also shown at the San Diego Comic-Con.
