This is a mega-cool short that left me wanting to see more work by the directors--hopefully a sequel or something that has just as silly and imaginative a theme. Aside from a very funny but crude joke involving a flasher, there is nothing I didn't love about the film. Heck, I even liked the crude joke but didn't like that this makes this not exactly the most kid-friendly short I've seen.

Using familiar CGI techniques, Lanier and Dates have managed to come up with something that is totally new and exciting. Using El Día de los Muertos figures from Mexico as their inspiration, they have created a short film in which all the characters are moving and interacting Day of the Dead figures--exact but moving copies of the traditional word or papier-mache figures. This was exciting AND cool--offering a wonderful new style that is even quite different from the characters from A NIGHTMARE BEFORE Christmas.

As for the film itself, unlike most shorts, it's very episodic--showing many different short segments all about how tough it is to be in love in a world of the dead! Funny, clever and exciting--this is a short you have to see.
