edyneagu-6040024 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Ah,2004 the most boring contest i've watched . TRT did a good job with what they had and the actual production part of the contest wasn't bad but now the songs

The Non Qualifiers (the first ones in eurovision history) 1.Finland - ''Takes 2 To Tango " - the song doesn't really match his voice and it's just sorta forgettable -14th in semi final 51 pts 2.Belarus -"My Gallileo" - Yes ,her voice and her english are bad but the lyrics are sorta good and compared to other songs it's actually good - 19th in semi final ,10 pts 3.Switzerland - ''Celebrate'' - It was a trainwreck - 22nd in semi final , 0 points 4.Latvia - ''Dziema Par Laimi " - Some points for being the only entry to be ever sung in Latvian everything else is just really bad and not for me - 17th in semi final 23 pts 5.Israel -To Believe - Huh.. this one is just really weird and inaccessible and i really don't like his voice 11th in semi final 57 pts 6.Andorra -Jugarem A Estimar nos - Well this is Andorra's debut and a really weak and cheap one 18th in semi final 12 pts 7.Portugal - Foi Magia - eh well it's good but not really memorable 15th in semi final 38 pts 8.Monaco - Notre Planete - they came back after 25 years with a pretty song it's not really high impact or that memorable but it's sweet and a nice message 19th with 10 pts (tied with belarus) 9.Lithuania - What's Happened To Your Love ? - My favorite non qualifier , it's actually really good 16th in semi final with 26pts 10.Slovenia - Stay Forever - it's so cheap and cheesy and dull and bad -21st in semi final with 5 pts 11.Estonia - Tii - yeah this is horrible i hate it so much it's just atrocious 11th in semi final with 57 pts 12.Denmark - Shame On You - quite catchy and memorable and it's better than other countries that did qualify 13th in semi final with 51 pts

QUALIFIERS 1.Spain - Para llenarme de ti - catchy with great staging - 10th with 87 pts 2.Austria -Du Bist - sweet yet really dull - 21st with 9 pts 3.Norway - High - did not deserve last i actually quite like it plus some good staging -24th with 3 pts 4.France - A Chaque Pas - one of the best staging from 2004 . Typical pretty ballad but honestly i like it . deserved to end up a bit higher 15th with 40 pts 5.Serbia & Montenegro - Lane Moje - beautiful balkan ballad one of the best 2nd 263 pts 6.Malta - On Again..Off Again - they are both excellent vocalists but the song is sorta messy but i did like the opera part 12th with 50pts 7.Netherlands - Without You - they're meh vocalists and the son is bland yet also sweet 20th with 11pts 8.Germany -Can't Wait Until Tonight - overrated i the fandom good but not top 10 material , i did not like the performance 8th with 93 pts 9.Albania - The Image Of You - great song , it's modern fun and memorable plus a great performance and an excellent vocalist 7th with 106 pts 10.Ukraine - Wild Dances - a very deserving winner , cultural ethnic , memorable, catchy all in all a fantastic performance 1st with 280 pts 11.Croatia - You Are The Only One - Dull , uninsipring and boring 12th with 50 pts 12.Bosnia - In The Disco - fun , catchy and memorable can definitely see why it did so well 9th 91 pts 13.Belgium - One Life - so underrated , modern ,catchy and lovely 22nd with only 7 pts 14.Russia - Believe ME - Bad vocals , weird staging , ok-ish song 11th with 67 pts 15.Macedonia - Life - Great beat , good vocals , memorable song , another robbed macedonian entry 14th with 47 pts 16.Greece - Shake It - I mean it's a bop ! 3rd with 252 pts 17.Iceland - Heaven - boring , dull , and so outdated 19th with 16 pts 18.Ireland - If My World Stopped Turning - also dull but this one is sorta sweet 22nd with 7 pts 19.Poland - Love Song - Honestly love it 17th with 27 pts 20.UK -Hold On To Our Love - sorta sweet sorta dull -16th 29 pts 21.Cyprus - Stronger Every Minute - great singer great song i honestly love it - 5th with 170 pts 22.Turkey - For Real - Party song , i sorta like but i sorta don't 4th iwth195 pts 23.Romania - i admit - messy and really bad ,18th with 18 pts 24.Sweden - It Hurts - It's amazing 5th with 170 pts

The best Eurovision show ever
gokselt22 May 2004
For a country which had been organizing a Eurovision Song Contest, this was the best one I have ever seen. I can say it has some flows while connecting live to other station because of the technical difficulties. The introduction of last year's winner Diva, Sertab Erener made an impressive 2-song show with dervishes.

The interval act of the "Fire of Anatolia" which may be resembling Riverdance, but in fact a totally different one, was remarkable with cultural dances from the ancient Turkish dances to the perfect and modern belly dance.

Because of having eliminated 12 of 36 entries, a total of 24 countries competed this year. The most irregular, non-routine, song for this contest was Turkish song "For Real" by ATHENA.

The crowd was incredible. All the people at the venue seems to accompany the singers, like they were all on the stage.

The winner Ruslana, from Ukraine with the song "Wild Dance" gathered the most attention. It was a well-worthy victory for her.

Great Performance!!!
Greekboy05223 March 2005
I think the "Eurovision Song Contest Of 2004" was great. It had a lot of great performers. I really loved Ruslan's song, as well as all the others. I really thought that Greece had a good singer this year. They came in third place. Ruslana's "Wild Dances" blew me away when I first herd it. From then on, I knew she would win. As for the comment above, Ik think that the "Eurovision Song Contest" is taken really seriously in Europe. I myself live in the USA, but I have relatives in Europe. They take the contest very seriously. I don't really know why countries like the UK, and Ireland don't put there top or famous singers in the contest. But, I know that countries like Greece and Cyprus put them in the contest. For example, both countries put up Anna Vissi in the 80's. They also put up other famous singers like Antique. Also, I know that for the 2005 contest, Greece will be putting up Helena Paparizou from Antique. She is well known for her music in Greece. Maybe the other countries want to give opportunities to the less known singers, or maybe, they just don't care as much. Anyway, I can't wait till the "Eurovision Song Contest Of 2005"! Till then, never forget about music!

End This Farce Now
Theo Robertson25 May 2004
I do know that the Eurovision song contest isn't supposed to be taken seriously as a song contest otherwise the 1990s would have seen Blur , Oasis or The Verve as the UK contestants while Ireland fielded U2 with Air representing France etc . In short this contest is not supposed to be taken seriously but come on at least pretend you're voting for the song you liked best , but alas politics comes into it . All the countries of the former Yugoslavia voted for one another which can be seen as part of a healing process but be honest , do you think the ghosts of 278,000 dead Yugoslavs can be exorcised by a camp and cheesy song contest featuring more often than not Euro-trash ? Neither do I . All the Nordic countries voted for one another while Greece and Cyprus gave each other maximum points as they do every year much to the disgust of the gathered audience in Turkey . Talking of Turkey I thought their entry was probably the best on the night , a sort of ska inspired track played by an actual band , but the winner was The Ukraine which seemed to have stolen their style from that sword and sorcery show from New Zealand

A well staged and organised musical event but an event that is well past its sell by date and which should hopefully be scrapped in the near future

Fun!
jraf24 June 2004
It's the first time I've watched the whole show and it was fun as I expected! Fun because most of the songs were kitsch! Fun because of the costumes, choreographies, etc... Fun because the French commentary was hilarious: Laurent Ruquier reading the sms that Geluck, Fogiel and other of his famous friends were sending to him during the show, Elsa Fayer commenting the show with sincerity, freshness and humour (and rating 2/20 almost every candidate!). Fun because of the Turkish persenter's hair! Fun because my parents and I played to the voting game. Fun because some few things were not that crap: Turkey's ska band was certainly the best, Ukraine's winner was fun to watch, French candidate was not that bad compare to former French entries, Serbia-Montenegro had a great music (what a pity the singer didn't have the same quality), Germany sent us a non-Eurovision-like candidate, and Russian teenager was cute to see and hear (with Kamel Ouali's choreography that is certainly the only good one...) The worse? Well, I suppose the egocentric gay disco diva from Bosnia is part of them, among the Austrian boys band, the Maltese old-fashioned duet and the Romanian symbol of vulgarity!
