The reward that Caesar offers for Xena's head, six million dinars, is the biggest amount of money ever mentioned in the show.
Xena having sex with Caeser which she rides him and stabs and kills him with a knife was written as a nod to the classic suspense thriller Basic Instinct (1992), which the film's main antagonist Catherine Trammell (Sharon Stone) rides her victims during sex and stabs and kills them with a ice pick.
The title is based upon a quote from William Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar" (Act I, Scene II): "Beware the ides of March".
