The original broadcast in 1969 was preceded by a 5 minute introduction by Pollo Hamburger in which he shed some light on the sea travels that Floris might have made in order to encounter Sindala in India.
Colorized photographs from this installment were used in the storybooks titled "Floris en het verraad van Oldenstein" (1969) and to a lesser extend in "Floris en het beleg van Oldenstein" (1970), published by 'De Geïllustreerde Pers N.V.' In these books, writer Frans de Regt invented a new story based on pictures taken from various different episodes, with the first one serving as a sequel of sorts to "De koperen hond".
