Very Very Underrated film...
phatmann242-114 November 2005
I saw this movie on BET two times, and this is a VERY VERY good movie. I"m going to warning this movie is not for the weak minded, it's very very graphic and it will make you think a lot. It's very interesting to see how fast things get around from one to another, and how fast people get killed when you're getting into it with the wrong people, the wrong people get killed, women get raped etc etc. Now, this movie is not just all about drug dealing and gang bangin, it also shows you there can be people in those areas that care also, and that person being the gym owner, it shows how he deals with his trainers getting it into with the drug dealers and the bangers, a famous quote from the movie. "No gangs, No guns, No drugs".

Watch it, just keep away from little children and if you don't like graphic images than Don't watch it.

It's a good reality check, and a good hood film. Hardcore movie.

Rage and Discipline, excellent movie!

This is a very well made, well written movie. Of course due to the cast begin all black, and the subject matter being the reality of life of many inner city blacks, you can expect the movie to receive bad review from critics. Do not be mistaken, this is an excellent movie. It has a very gritty filming, and dialogue that is so natural, its doesn't feel like watching a movie. I have seen this movie twice, and it was even better the second time. This movie is basically a true to life microcosm of inner city life and love. The relationships between the characters in the movie are carefully developed and the progression is natural. Very, very good movie. The only bad thing i can say about it is the language in the movie is very explicit, but again, its true.

Great movie!!!

I rated this movie a 7 because not many people could actually sit there and watch. It was extremely intense. I agree 100% with phatman's comment. This movie was so strongly filmed. There is definitely more to it than the gang stuff. I've seen this on BET, as well. I wonder why I haven't heard about it anywhere else? Anyhow, this movie makes you look at today's harsh reality. I encourage everyone who wants to learn the truth about today's "hood" to watch this. None of the things that were actually in this story were really the most important part of the movie. They were just thinks to cover up what was really happening. If you are a sensitive person, you'll be fighting not to cry, but enjoy it. Hands down, this was a great movie and i would love to see it again.

Intense film. Great Direction. Solid performances.

I was glued to the tube for this one, and TV is not a regular thing at my place because of all the crap that is normally soaking up the programming. Rarely do I get the chance to watch a film that doesn't 'remind' me that I'm watching a movie. It was a little frustrating watching it with seemingly over half the dialog cut out due to swearing on BET, but the actors and their expression told the story well enough. The comments posted before mine do a good job in expressing my views on the story itself. No Hollywood garbage here. Just a solid movie with a hard honest message. Overall, this film was an impressive surprise, and I would recommend it to just about any of my friends.

Excellent gritty urban tale of making the right choice
Rynldcote14 November 2006
This film really blew my mind. I first viewed it at a film festival in Brooklyn. What stuck in my mind was the killer performance of the gangster Jermaine. The brother just wanted to be loved but did not know how to go about it. He lashes out at a woman who rejected him in one of the most brutal, graphic scenes ever viewed on screen. Jermaine is a combination of a frightening Robert Deniro in Cape Fear and a vicious Welsely Snipes, aka, Nino Brown, in New Jack City. The conflict between the two boxers who are brothers is all so real as one is trying to do the right thing while the other wants to prove that he is hardcore from the streets. Overall great acting among the supporting characters.
