three chickens is the best part!
Hunky Stud14 March 2009
I am surprised that this movie only has 4 comments, so i am here to add another one.

The funniest part of this movie is about the "three chickens". Those lines are well written. The actors executed them very well. They totally made me laugh. That girl who wears a neck protection looks like Tina Fey. Those two maids are really good, one acts very silly. One acts so cold hearted.

This whole movie has an out of this world feeling. It is as if you are trapped in a certain period of time. Everything happens around that big mansion.

Nothing to get carried away

It's not that I disliked this movie, but I didn't find it too interesting either. It's an average comedy, with a certain social commentary. We may laugh at the content of soap operas but given the chance, we wouldn't mind living the life of our daily heroes, in real life or even on the small screen. The acting is good, the cinematography also. But the movie fails to get you wanting for more. I was actually happy that it had a running rime of less than 90 minutes. So, nothing to get carried away, but a sincere comedy that's enjoyable to watch.

Seen at home, in Toronto, on March 14th, 2006.

I could not stop laughing
fpeglau29 March 2008
The idea is pretty simple. When an oligarch Peruvian family rent their garden for the filming of a soap opera, the soap opera starts to take control of everybody's life. Ana, the bored wife, takes advantage of her husband absence to get a part in the program. And that is when things start to get complicated. The relation between Ana and the maids is incredible. Rebecca Raez as the revolutionary maid is so funny. If you watch the film because of Angie Cepeda you will be disappointed because she only has a very small part. The only critic I have to the movie is that they take the chicken joke too far.

I could not stop laughing when I saw it the first time!!! Great cinematographic work. Its sad the movie had very little distribution. If you are able to get your hands into this movie, watch it, you wont be disappointed.

Funny, Witty, Intelligently Written

Refreshing to see a good movie without special effects focusing on a good plot and funny story. Valverde's direction keeps you focused on the main storyline without losing interest on the sub-plots. Monica delivers a credible performance captivating the audience as well as the movie. The movie shows the funny side of us all (and how many funny sides we all have collectively) as regards soap operas... we all like to ridicule them... but deep down... very few of us escape their magic aura and ability to transport us from our sometimes tedious life... to a magic world where fantasy takes place... A real portrait and caricature of Latin Americans ability to stop anything their doing only to be hypnotised and enchanted by the world of soaps !

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
sue-frenzel18 June 2005
The premise of the movie is hilarious in any language. It was wonderfully cast and the actors and actresses all played their parts to perfection. The actors' timing and facial expressions are perfect. I went to it three times at the 2004 Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival, and would have gone to it more often if possible. At this year's 2005 Film Festival, I struck up a conversation with another film-goer and she also agreed that Destiny Has No Favorites is one of the funniest movies she's ever seen.

I want this to be wide-released in the U.S. even if it is subtitled. Word of mouth would cause the audiences to grow and Spanish is a popular language in the U.S.
