Great possibilities, but failed to follow through!

This show was, of course, totally unnecessary, but it was kinda fun to see all the contestants from the other countries as well as my own.

I do have to say that I was quite taken aback by some of the comments from some of the judges, especially from Simon Cowell. I mean, it's OK if they don't think they sing good enough, but do they have to pick on what people look like? I don't think singing has anything to do with how you look. I must admit, I laughed pretty hard after the hobbit-comment from the Australian judge after Kurt's song. I think it was hilarious, but it wasn't meant as a criticism, I think he meant it like a joke, really. But some of the comments were plain mean! And yes, I know they're supposed to be mean, to put you off, but it seemed to me like they were attacking all the idols that didn't come from either the States, Australia or the UK.

Now, I know this may sound a bit biased since I'm from Norway, but I do think the world picked the right winner. I mean, the only real competition to Kurt was Kelly Clarkson and Will Young, and I think they are both great singers. The problem with Kelly is that she likes to show off her improvisational skills a bit too much, it's all a bit too Mariah Carey. And Will, I mean, he just ruined a great song, a classic! There is no man alive that should sing "Light My Fire", 'cause the only man who ever got it right died in the seventies! And if you have to sing that song, at least do it in the original version, 'cause the version Will sung was basically crap! I mean, it was boring, he had no real emotion for the song, and it seems to me like he just stood there and recited a lyric, without knowing the meaning behind it.

All in all, I think it had the possibility of being a good show, but it just wasn't. Sure, it was fun to hear some of the comments from the judges, but there weren't really a lot of really good singers there. Some of them couldn't even hold a tune. But some of the idols were pretty good, like Ryan Malcolm and Guy Sebastian, but I would have liked the rest of them to have a bit of a higher standard than they did. I'm very happy with the winner though!

Bring it on World! This time Canada will have a chance.

I loved World Idol, from the second that I had heard it would be happening I couldn't wait (well I was already excited since it was on Christmas Day & New Year's). The format of the competition was not good however. Here in Canada we received 2 different feeds, one from Fox (USA's show hosted by the Pop Idol Hosts) and one from CTV (Canada's show hosted by our host for the performances and the Pop Idol hosts for the Finale) since we were getting 2 feeds there was 2 different performance orders which was a bit annoying. There needs to be a "World Idol 2" if there was to be one then there is a good chance that Canada would come in the top 3 at least (Go Kalan!!). Fox/Fremantle Media/19 Entertainment PLEASE DO WORLD IDOL 2!! CANADA COULD WIN IN WORLD IDOL 2

Not Very Compelling

I saw this on Christmas day . It wasn`t a very good Christmas for me because I wanted to unwrap a 29 year old blonde nurse called Nicola on Christmas morning but had to make do with a TWO TOWERS DVD . Anyway WORLD IDOL must have similarly disappointing for a lot of people . Here we have a show featuring all the winners from around the world of the much hyped plastic pop show POP IDOL. It`s as pointless as it was bland , I mean the original show is made just to give a kareoke singer 15 minutes of fame while filling the pockets of a record exec . Did the winner become a household name ? I can`t even remember the name of the winner though I do remember he had a very uncanny likeness to Frodo Baggins friend and companion from LORD OF THE RINGS

Please don`t make a second edition because can be a very disappointing time of year

Annoying

That's how I can sum it all up. Now I am a huge fan of the American and Canadian Idol shows, you could even say I'm obsessed. (I have never missed an American episode and am even listening to Kelly Clarkson as we speak) but the internatinal version, World Idol was strangly more pathetic. Anyone can tell you that a person will root for a person from their state/provice but their own country? Bias-City! (Despite this fact, you cannot vote for your own idol) It's almost like moving backwards in a dememted sort of way (11 countries battling each other?) With a Judge for each contestant who unsurprisingly favors there own contedor and annoying bad cutting in the Canadian version, World idol was just mean and well, annoying!

(sorry for spelling/grammer mistakes)
