You know what I always missed when I watched Parks and Rec and The Office? Dead Bodies. I always thought, "Man, if only this took place at a funeral home." Well, it looks like my prayers have been answered, because that's just what Jamie Lee Curtis has started working on with CBS.
The project is called Quality of Life, and it is planned to be a multi-cam comedy in the same vein as Parks and Rec and Modern Family. I think that a funeral home has a lot of untapped potential. I mean how many comedies take place there? After Scream Queens was canceled after the second season, this will give Curtis a great comedy outlet. She has proven herself in the world of comedy in the past couple years in my eyes.

For the globe-trotting, Emmy Award-winning host of “Parts Unknown,” chef Anthony Bourdain, that can be achieved with one simple rule.

"The Big C" returned to Showtime Monday (April 29) with the first of four one-hour episodes that will wrap up the award-winning dramedy about Cathy Jamison and her battle with cancer.
The first episode of "Hereafter" is titled "Quality of Life" and for Cathy that means no more chemotherapy. It turns out her wonderful, carefree boat ride with Angel was actually a hallucination. Cathy was found during her diving excursion and rushed to the hospital.
The cancer is metastasizing in her brain and for that, Dr. Sherman has recommended chemotherapy. But as it turns out, the good doctor also has cancer (colon) and it is his outlook on wanting to keep working that causes Cathy to quit her job, start doing the things she wants to do and to live out the rest of her life feeling as good as she can, rather than as a woman sickened from the chemotherapy.

Las Vegas — Beauties from every state are competing for the Miss America crown Saturday night, an honor that carries with it a $50,000 scholarship and a yearlong run as an advocate and role model.
The winner will go on tour, speaking to groups around the country and raising money for the Children's Miracle Network, the organization's official charity.
The competition at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip is the culmination of a week of preliminary competitions and months of preparations for the titleholders from all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each one has already proven her poise, charm and volubility by winning her state crown.
The queens have been staying at Planet Hollywood, but the humming slot machines and flashing marquees have been little more than a blurry backdrop for a tight schedule of rehearsals, media events and one-on-one interviews with the judges.

We already knew that there were Yankee fans in the comics community, thanks to the Twitter Report feed, and they showed up along with some non-Yankees supporters today to mourn the lost of the team's owner George Steinbrenner. I have a feeling that a few of them were more familiar with Steinbrenner on "Seinfeld" than they were with his real-life business endeavors.
Elsewhere, if you follow any faces at all in comics on Twitter, you've probably seen the #movieswithbatman tag showing all over the place. I've included Gene Ha and Warren Ellis' submissions below, along with critical comparison of early "Avengers" comics to "Jersey Shore" and Fred Van Lente's feelings about "Entourage."
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for July 13, 2010.
George Steinbrenner pt. 1: @ronmarz I'm no Yankee fan, but I admire their success and way of doing business. They are what they are today because of George Steinbrenner.

Our collective dream of a Jetsons-like future is inching closer to reality with a little help from Intel, which this week showed off Herb (the Home Exploring Robot Butler) to FastCompany.com. The robotic butler, built as part of a collaboration with the Quality of Life Technology Center and Carnegie Mellon University, uses six multi-core computers along with multiple sensors to perform various tasks around the kitchen.
Herb has some powerful capabilities. It can serve, toss things in the trash (or recycling), sort dishes and place them in the dishwasher, and more. But there are still plenty of issues to overcome before Herb can will be scrubbing your pots. During our demonstration, Intel programmers spent nearly 10 minutes debugging code before the Herb was finally able to grasp a container and throw it away. Once Herb got going, though, we could see a real-life robo-maid become a very distinct possibility. Check out our video below.

The Academy Awards nominations for 2010 hit close to home for the comics world this morning -- and not just because sci-fi and animated films like "Avatar," "District 9" and "Up" made it into the Best Picture category. Neil Gaiman's "Coraline" adaptation earned a Best Animated Feature Film nod, and Kevin Smith's former sound collaborator ended up with a Best Sound Editing acknowledgment.
Even if they don't have a horse in the race for the Oscars, most creators still had opinions to share, though. You can find retweeted reactions to "District 9," "Up" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" actress Anna Kendrick's nomination for "Up in the Air" after the jump. And even if the Oscars don't interest you, you can check out what Dave Gibbons thought of "Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut" and discover which big-name writer took a taxi to McDonald's yesterday.
