Josh O’Connor plays a troubled archaeologist obsessed with his dead girlfriend in “La Chimera,” the adventurous and ruggedly beautiful new Italian film from Alice Rohrwacher finally out this Friday from Neon.
In the haunted and haunting 2023 Cannes premiere, O’Connor’s mopey, recently-freed-from-jail Arthur joins with a band of tombaroli, or gravediggers, to excavate ancient treasures that may include an Etruscan statue that Arthur feels homages his former partner. The statue is too beautiful for human eyes, as Arthur says. O’Connor, the daffy and floppy-eared British actor beloved for his roles in films like the new queer classic “God’s Own Country” and already for Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming “Challengers,” went Method to play the part of an outsider adrift in the Italian countryside. Not only did he learn Italian — the actor speaks near-fluently in scenes that ask he do so — but O’Connor also spent his nights between shooting...

The most important character in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel Daisy Jones & The Six? It’s the music – and any devotee of the book, a fictional oral history of a Seventies rock band, will have strong feelings about exactly how it should sound. It might have shades of Stevie Nicks, a touch of Joni Mitchell, a dash of The Eagles’ soft rock – and it has to feel vital, like it “takes a piece of your heart out and shows it to you”, as the group’s singer Billy Dunne puts it. The success of Prime Video’s Daisy Jones TV adaptation, then, was always going to ride on the songs – but how do you write the perfect track for an entirely made-up artist?
There is a time-honoured tradition of music written specifically for on-screen stories, from the sublime to the ridiculous. Think of Lady Gaga’s Ally making her...

Taking place in Southern California, the Evangelical revival incorporated rock and roll and the hippie spirit.
Given that the movie focuses on Christianity, audiences are wondering about Grammer’s beliefs and whether he is a Christian. So, how closely does the former Frasier star’s life align with the religion?

Nominations for the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced Wednesday morning, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel continued to be a big force on the awards front.
The Rachel Brosnahan-led Amazon Prime Video comedy picked up four total nominations, leading the TV Pack.
The Crown, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, The Morning Show, Fleabag, and The Kominksy Method followed with three noms each.
If we take a look by outlet, Netflix leads the way with 13 total nominations. HBO comes in second place with 10 nods, while Amazon Prime has seven.
Netflix and HBO achieving a lot of nominations is nothing new. Both services had excellent turnouts at the Golden Globe nominations earlier this week.
Also unsurprising is The Morning Show. Despite the tepid critical response, the Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon-led Apple TV+ drama series is having a strong showing on the awards front.

He’s up against Alan Arkin (“The Kominsky Method”), Kieran Culkin (“Succession”), Stellan Skarsgård (“Chernobyl”) and Henry Winkler (“Barry”) in the best supporting actor in a series, limited series or motion picture made for television category. Could there be a new trend in the field of feature-length documentaries? After last year’s Oscar winner Undefeated and the surprise box office success of this year’s Searching For Sugarman, are we seeing a spate of “feel-good” doc? They’ve had an unfair rep as dour and somber for quite some time now. Many film goers avoid them completely, feeling that they’re the movie equivalent of a dull lecture or homework (“shudder”)! But The Other Dream Team is a truly uplifting movie. And to quote one of the film’s subjects, “What a long, strange, trip it’s been”.

After last weeks Dream Warriors Script To Scream I found that I had a lot of leftover thoughts racing in my head regarding the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise in general. Was Part 3 better than Part 1? How did they fail so badly with the remake? Is scary Freddy better than funny Freddy? Why does Freddys Dead even exist? Of course, some of these answers are self evident. Nevertheless, with all of these thoughts about the series cluttering my brain, I decided to embark on my own personal ranking of the films in the franchise (including Freddy Vs. Jason). So here they are, ranked in the simple order of which ones Id prefer to watch over the others.

It's safe to say Elizabeth Hurley is no longer bedazzled by her textile-heir hubby. Just months after announcing her separation from Arun Nayar via Twitter, the 45-year-old Method star filed for divorce Friday citing his "unreasonable behavior" as the reason for the split, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail. Hurley's official announcement of her separation in December came shortly after News of the World published photos of the Estee Lauder spokesmodel kissing cricketer Shane Warne—a man that clearly was not her husband. "Not a great day. For the record, my husband Arun & I separated a few months ago," Hurley tweeted upon finding out about the report. "Our close...
