A Spanish homage to Peter Jackson
pumaye15 July 2004
This is a strange movie, really strange: it tells the story of an alien invasion very similar to the one of Peter Jackson's debut film, Bad Taste, but possibly with more bad taste than the original. It is also almost a remake of Jackson gore masterpiece Dead Alive (aka Brain Dead), with a visceral humour, almost insane, made by blood, blood and more blood, with chainsaws, guns and blood all over the place. Not really original, but with that peculiar Spanish flavor that you may already have tasted and seen in other movies like Accion Mutante, El dia de la bestia and other similar to these. There is a cameo by the old Spanish horror icon Paul Naschy/Jacinto Molina. And... yes, the female lead actress is really tasty, but not as the stupid aliens in this movie think (boys, what a gorgeous woman she is!).

Paul Naschy fans only need apply

Spanish alien zombie comedy gore film isn't very good.

Two men escape from prison then make a b-line to retrieve some stolen cash. Ending up double crossed they find themselves up against some alien zombies.

Starring Paul Naschy, famous for playing werewolf in a long running series of movies, this is an on the cheap production that reminded me of Peter Jackson's Bad Taste. Very gory, the film is hampered by some really bad taste and offensive attitudes (misogyny abounds), its just not fun to listen to these jerks. Worse is the fact that humor more often than not falls flat. Only Naschy gives any reason to see the film.

Much blood
jportwood315 November 2003
Much blood. Well, science fiction and blood, shouldn't be a problem following what's going on. It turns out the movie is this wacky spoof on Spain and modern cinema. Imagine "Naked Gun" mixed with a Tarantino flick.

These guys escape from prison, take this sexy chick hostage and then want to get money from this ganglord. But it turns out he's the Padre of a group of alien zombies that are trying to populate Spain by sodomizing the men and turning them into zombies as well. No really.

So they capture one zombie and try to kill it, but it keeps sprouting more limbs and heads and finally they discover that it has this huge uh -- member -- and they have to shoot it. But then it scampers off like the alien in "Alien" and finally, when it confronts the woman (she's now on their side), she blows it away and is covered in uh -- stuff. Great.

loner_dottie_rebel13 October 2003
Aliens raping men to impregnate them and rotting women before eating them. you know this is going to be good.

to be honest, i'd no idea what was going on. i was too engrossed in what was going on visual wise.

lots of blood, a naked chick, a pile of severed heads, dismembering with a chainsaw to classical music and aliens who only die when shot in the crotch.

a tremendously fum movie.

Non-sense scenes filled with black humor and LOTS of gore! My kind of entertainment.

Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't expecting much from this Spanish splatter effort but I'm glad that I can write a positive review. I caught "Mucha Sangre" on a splatter/gore local festival in Mèxico, along with "Nekromantik" and "Cannibal Holocaust".

I didn't care for the first minutes of "Mucha Sangre" because it wasn't defined if it was a Black Comedy, or a straight Horror movie. But after 20 minutes it was clear that this was a Black Comedy with TONS of blood, and gore.

De las Heras obviously spoofed these movies: "Perdita Durango"- the characters clothes, hair styles, the plot situation, the sex scene (very steamy I must say), etc.

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"- the hilarious scene where Cortaojos slaughters the zombie at the tone of an Opera.

"Evil Dead 2"- all the blood, gore, non sense scenes, the object in the mouth, the zombie women costumes, etc.

"Braindead"- all the gore, f/x, death scenes, etc.

"El Dia de la Bestia"- the main characters, dialogs, black humor, etc.

Overall, "Mucha Sangre" is a hilarious Black Comedy with hysterical lead characters and a weird plot that will make you wonder if the director and writer were on drugs. The whole zombie concept and how to stop them is funny and works for the movie's atmosphere. There are some funny scenes that not necessary are Horror related. For example, when Cortaojos looks at his girlie watch, or how Cortaojos and his partner wear tree costumes.

The excessive violence and blood is a plus and it will please fans of gore. I must admit that at some point I thought this was a rip-off of Alex de la Iglesia's brilliant "El Dìa de la Bestia"; but it isn't'. It's probably inspired by it but "Mucha Sangre" is a stand alone movie with a lot to offer. I would recommend it for people who enjoy movies that do not follow any coherence.

My advice is, watch this movie with low expectations and be patient with it. It starts slow but once you get hooked in, you will have a great time. Leave your brain in your bed, watch "Mucha Sangre", and enjoy it! It's nothing more than a gory Spanish comedy. Good effort. If you can track this one, do it. You won't regret.

Great Spanish bizarro movie
IsmaRubio4 August 2004
Amazing, unoriginal, gore, horror, comedy, parody, action packed, and zombie attack & alien invasion flick movie!!

Spain is great, yeah! Mucha sangre (Very Blood) is a movie what spoof horror/fantasy/action 80s movies (evil dead, bad taste, chainshaw massacre, the killer, critters, demons..)

Blood, blood, blood, gore , action (matrix-low-budget), shootguns, dead, dead, dead, aliens...!!! Heavy metal group's "Mojinos Escozios" are cameo here.

Great low-budget Spanish movie, and failure-film sadly world-wide

Has everything a good zombie flick needs
johnrock19 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This is a wonderful zombie flick that should appeal to everyone who likes zombie films with a dose of humor. Don't be bothered by the extremely poor rating. With films like these, a poor rating is actually a good rating because it means that mainstream viewers hate it. About the story: Two guys escape from prison. They hijack a hot chick and her car. Then they visit a friend, collect some guns, and go to a big gangster boss who owes them money. It turn out, however, that the gangster boss is very inhuman in the literal sense... Mucha Sange has been described as a "film that Tarantino would have made if he were Spanish and knew how to make a good zombie flick". It has everything you can ever wish for in a zombie movie: Cool characters, heavy metal music, fantastic settings, just the right dose of humor, crazy gunfights, an almost surreal chainsaw scene, a hot sex scene with a very hot chick, good actors, I could go on forever.

See this movie. You won't regret it. But don't see it with friends who are not into this kind of movies. It's clearly a zombie film made by fans for the fans.

Barcelona meets Granada!
payoguiri27 April 2006
Yeah, like all the others, I also do love this picture! Although it is a low budget movie, the shootout-scenes (in the Alien-Bar) are very well done. It almost seems that John Woo has directed this scene! The humor of the film is actually comparable with Peter Jackson's Bad Taste! Have a look at the Alien-Bosses at the end of the film...they look like the puppets of "Sesame-Street"! (alluson of "Meet the Feebles"?) The actors are not so well known, but the locations (mostly in the "Comarca de Guadix", Granada) like the town Abla, where the Alien-Bar is, are known by Spaghetti-Western Freakes! Near Abla is La Calahora e.g. There were shot many scenes from "Once upon a time in the West" Must be seen!!!!!
