Wheeeeee!!!!

I saw this special on the Discovery Channel on January 3, 2004, I believe. It's more of a promotional feature to highlight Disney World's thrill rides, but it's fun nonetheless. This documentary follows six riders as they brave Disney's newest and most thrilling thrill rides. The rides included Disney/MGM Studios' Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, Disney's Animal Kingdom's Dinosaur: Countdown to Extinction, Epcot's Test Track, and the newest thrill ride, Mission: Space. As a past cast member, it was a lot of fun to revisit some of my favorite rides, and it was neat to get another look at Mission: Space, an attraction I can't wait to try out!

Some imagineers were interviewed to discuss different things like the unique thrills of the rides and the importance of developing a unique story for each ride. A psychologist (or someone similar to that) was brought in to look over videos of the riders and talk about what they were going through, as in stress levels, endorphins, and other medical terms that I know nothing about. Then the riders were interviewed based on their experiences. I was a little iffy about what the riders had to say, because all comments were extremely positive and almost corny. I suspect they were actors, but the rides are great fun anyways (trust me!)

This special provides a great look at some of Disney's most fun rides. It's great for Disney parks fans and for theme park fans all around. Keep an eye out for it!
