Just because it aired on "Up All Night"...
insomniac_rod12 December 2008
How could I forget about this little piece of obscure trash? It also aired almost every three months on USA Up All Night (even on Latin American version).

To be honest, there's little to mention about this "Weird Science" carbon copy except for Horror elements and the occasional sleaze.

There aren't any interesting scenes, no gore, almost non-existent sensuality/sexuality, and worst of all, the acting is atrocious.

Seriously, any episode of "Weird Science" is scarier than this.

I enjoyed this movie for two reasons: I love low budget trash. It aired on my favorite T.V. Show of all time.

Those were the days where late 80's / early 90's crap was fun to watch.

Dream a Little Evil

Warning: Spoilers
Also known as Dream Evil, this has an unsuccessful electronics technician named George (Richard J. Sebastian) building a machine in the home he shares with his brother Mark (Tom Alexander) and sometimes with his brother's girlfriend Veronica (Kathy Smith, whose IMDB otherwise is all workout videos). That machine can make anything in your subconsciousness become real, as Billy (Duncan Rouleau - who would go on to co-create Ben 10 with fellow Man of Action studio members Joe Casey, Joe Kelly and Steven T. Seagle; he also co-created Big Hero 6 with Seagle) finds out when he creates his dream girl Angie (Michele Gaudreau) just by thinking about her. But when Veronica gets angry that all the noise is ruining her sex life, she destroys the machine.

George wishes death upon his brother and you know who shows up? Death (Lyle Waggoner). So does Angie, who is devoted to having as much sex with him as possible, as well as eating as many bowls of cornflakes as one can inhumanly eat in one sitting. And then the demons emerge because hey, the human mind - especially one that loves horror movies - is a wild place, right?

Royce Mathew, who directed and wrote this, started as a production designer working on the films of his former roommate David DeCoteau.

So yeah. It's very Weird Science until the end, when it goes absolutely insane. That sums up a lot of USA Up All Night movies, I have come to discover. There's also a role for Victoria Nesbitt, who was Missy in Linnea Quigley's Horror Workout and also appeared in Fortress of Amerikkka.

A favorite on USA's now cancelled Up All Night and a very obscure title to find. The film is a horror updating on the classic teen comedy Weird Science. It makes very little sense, but I'll try to explain it for you....

The film is about two feuding brothers living together in an isolated mansion. One of them is a computer geek and the other is a stud. The stud seems to be in bed with his girlfriend all the time. However, one day the brother that is a computer geek finally is able to create his dream woman on a computer, but things get out of control and the computer generated woman turns into a demon who kills everyone in sight.

This could have been a campy low budget treat, but it isn't. The budget is so small that it doesn't even leave room for standard cinematic devices, like halfway decent editing or make-up. The film moves along at a snail's pace and the acting is really terrible. The cast must have known they were making a campy film, but they fail to play up to the camp elements of the film. And the horror elements are unfocused and rushed at best. Still if I ever happen to catch it on TV, I always find myself watching it.

Rated R; Violence, Profanity, Nudity, Sexuality

Back when USA left the gore in....

Warning: Spoilers
-Spoilers- I remember when this movie used to play on the USA network, with all it's blood. You will never find something like this on USA again. Can't remember too much, but I do remember two annoying brother's in a giant boring house, the brothers fighting, one dude who musta seen Weird Science and created a computerized dream woman, an annoying girlfriend, and a demon woman who would puke all over the place. I remember it being pretty low-budget, and the whole movie basically took place in that big boring house. I can't believe I remember all that. It's been like 13 years. i would like to see it again.
