Reruns ruled for CBS in primetime Monday as the eye network's comedy and drama mainstays easily topped fresh fare on its Big Three rivals. CBS won the night as usual on the strength of its 9-11 p.m. repeats of comedies Everybody Loves Raymond, Two and a Half Men and CSI: Miami. The 10 p.m. Miami encore was the night's most-watched program as usual with an average of 12.5 million viewers and 4.1 rating/12 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. At 9:30 p.m., Men (12.7 million, 4.3/12) impressed once again by inching up from its Raymond lead-in (12 million, 3.9/11). NBC ran second to CBS for the night with modest showings from its summer originals, 9 p.m.'s For Love or Money (6.2 million, 2.6/8) and 10 p.m.'s Who Wants to Marry My Dad (7.8 million, 3.4/9).
AMC and Discovery Kids have picked up two series from City Lights Television, marking the production company's first-ever pickups in its two-year existence. City Lights TV, a unit of City Lights Media Group that launched in August 2002, said it has sold two reality series to cable network AMC and Discovery Kids. AMC picked up six episodes of FilmFakers, a one-hour reality series set to premiere in October, while Discovery Kids agreed to 13 episodes of the half-hour sports-based reality series One Shot, which will air as part of its Saturday morning block on NBC starting in fall 2005. The details of FilmFakers are being kept under wraps, but City Lights TV president Dave Noll described it as being similar to HBO's Project Greenlight but "with a big, network-style twist" a la Fox's Joe Millionaire and NBC's For Love or Money.

CBS and NBC battled it out for ratings glory Monday night with Fox's all-original lineup still struggling. With its regular lineup in reruns, led by Two and a Half Men (11.4 million, 3.9/10) and CSI: Miami (11.7 million, 3.8/11), CBS averaged 10 million total viewers and a 3.3 rating/10 share among adults 18-49, according to early Nielsen estimates. At 9 p.m., NBC's For Love or Money (7.3 million, 3.8/11) was flat from last week. Fox (5 million, 2.2/7) was third for the night with scripted North Shore (4.6 million, 2.1/7) and reality The Casino (5.3 million, 2.3/6) both down from their so-so premieres last week. First-run reality programs dominated Americans' generally anemic postholiday television viewing last week as Monday's two-hour finale of NBC's romance series For Love or Money clinched the top spot in the key 18-49 demographic. CBS, meanwhile, saw strong returns from Big Brother 4 and the premiere of another dating show, Cupid, the latter of which was helped along by promos featuring Simon Cowell of American Idol fame. For Love or Money wooed viewers with a 6.0 rating/16 share, the best 18-49 numbers for any network telecast since the May sweep, according to figures from Nielsen Media Research for the week ending July 13. The six-episode series ended with contestant Erin Brodie opting for the money rather than the guy, though she wound up trading in the $1 million prize for the chance to star in For Love or Money 2, which bowed Monday. The Love or Money finale, along with a boost from Tuesday newsmagazine Dateline NBC, handed the peacock its seventh straight weekly victory in 18-49 (3.0/10), trailed by CBS (2.4/8), Fox (2.2/8) and ABC (2.1/7). CBS and NBC split the prize for total viewers (7.9 million), followed by ABC (6 million) and Fox (5.1 million).
