Enjoyable silent romp
groundedGeek23 June 2003
Fun little gem, with a plot perhaps not as accessible to a non-internet-savvy-fan of the Star Wars trilogy... ie) one who recognizes the innate humor in the three internet targets of Lucas' hostility. Regular users of the various SW-based fan sites around the net will recognize the intent of this sketch, while those who are fans of the movies and don't wile away the hours discussing them in internet chat rooms and message boards might not.

For those of us regulars to those boards, this becomes just a bit more humorous as we recognize the targets. Fun little romp, great idea to use the silent/slapstick format..

Loved the Troopers' white SUV. Just seemed to work...

And a finale rendered funnier by the viewer's dedication to and knowledge of the creator of the Holy Trilogy...

A Classic from Start to Finish
tslotha5 May 2004
This short Star Wars Fan Film reveals the humour of Lou "T Bone" Tambone and Jeff Cioletti as they bring back to life the old days of silent films. From start to finish this is a masterpiece to be recommended to all Star Wars fans and silent film lovers alike.

I highly recommend not only watching Silent But Deadly but it's two sequels Silent But Deadly 2 and the perfect climatic conclusion in Silent But Deadly 3.

10 out of 10 doesn't cut this film nearly as much credit as it deserves a classic from start to finish and highly recommended. That's all I can say about this film without you seeing it for yourselves.

Laughed all the way through!

This film was funny from the get-go all the way to the end. Mixing Star Wars Stormtroopers and silent film was a great idea! The swirlie scene, by far was the funniest of the film. I hardly think the film itself was violent. Compare it to some of today's cartoons for children and you'll think differently.

The music for Silent But Deadly blended in perfectly, and it definitely had that silent film style! I reccommend this movie to any Star Wars fan because it definitely has more than it's share of laughs! A definite classic in the world of Star Wars Fanfilms! Can't wait for part II!!!

Not nearly as funny as they want you to think

Silent But Deadly, one of the entrants in the 2002 Official Star Wars Fan Film Awards, could have been a classic fanfilm, but stumbles along the way to that. While the setup is amusing, the film could have benefitted from some serious tightening of the editing. Also, while the first two "captures" are slightly amusing, it's the third, with the violent shift in tone and mean spiritedness that turned me off of this film... I wanted to like it, but in the end, I can't recommend it... and seeing as how it was one of the only major vote-getters almost completely edited out of the SciFi Channel special, I think that says something about it as well...

Amusing but not as funny as the high praise would suggest (spoilers)

Warning: Spoilers
George Lucas is angry with the multitude of internet based fan sites revealing major plot spoilers for his upcoming Star Wars prequels and decides to dispatch two of his Storm Trooper enforcers to take care of some of the main offenders.

This silent short film is cleverly shot in sepia style with typical music, title cards and so on and, in this regard the film is actually pretty enjoyable in how it recreates this style of film. The concept was also good and I hoped it would be effective at drawing good laughs from putting the Storm Troopers in a modern setting and having them running missions against internet spoilers. However, beyond this concept, the film is nowhere near as funny as it could have been. I did want to like the film because of the concept but it just didn't do anything that clever with it and indeed the "punch line" was surprisingly weak.

Worth a glance for the silent movie style and the humour in the concept but mostly it doesn't really do anything of real comedy value with it.
