I am a big fan of TV Land's shows, such as I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, The Honeymooners, The Dick Van Dyke Show, etc. When I heard this was coming on, and it was being hosted by John Ritter of all people, I had to see it. I was a bit disappointed because I could tell who were the winners were for each award, which didn't make it as exciting to know who would win, but at least John Ritter's duties as host were good.
Celebrating classic TV shows, John Ritter makes the audience laugh and brings out some of TV's most classic stars, as they give out awards that you usually wouldn't see today, except for on award shows like this.
Commenting on this a couple of years after the award show itself, I can't exactly give you examples on some of the awards given out. But, there were some awards that were just handed out to certain TV shows (All in the Family, for example) just because of its great quality.
But, what disappointed me was that all you had to do was before the award show comes on, they give you a list for every single celebrity at the show. All you had to do was, when looking at the nominees, you just had to see which one showed up and you'll know who's the winner. Simple as that.
But, I did like the beginning with the whole little mixture of cast members singing the theme songs to their shows. I liked how they added words to the Dick Van Dyke Show theme and was surprised to find out that the late Morey Amsterdam wrote it. That whole beginning was one of the best parts of the whole award show, which was, like I said, full of very obvious winners, but a good host.
