Choppy, but Hilarious!
mdluckycharm22 March 2003
This comedy Central presents was really good, and funny. Dane Cook is a talented comedian. Although he rapidly goes from subject to subject, I bet anyone will end up laughing. He has very unique topics that he jokes about, snakes, aliens, even religious breakfast cereal! I loved it because there was never an un-funny moment.

Very funny although Cook isn't given full room to blossom
MovieAddict201615 January 2006
Dane Cook is quite funny - I have his "Harmful if Swallowed" and "Retaliation" albums, and even if he's not the most thought-provoking comedian, he is naturally humorous, and he makes me laugh.

This Comedy Central presentation is quite short (23 minutes without commercials) and as a result he isn't given much room to fully blossom like he does on his CDs (Retaliation includes a 20-minute gag about going to Wallgreens!) but nevertheless it's a very funny stand-up act.

Off the bat he practically attacks the audience with jokes and doesn't slow down at all. If you're new to Dane Cook then this is overall an excellent way to be introduced to him. After this I recommend checking out his other comedy albums.

This is so hilarious, a constipated man would crap his pants from laughing so hard
Lando_Hass29 March 2004
My friend kept telling me how hilarious Dane Cook was. I never really believed him because almost all the comics I've seen on Comedy Central Presents were completely unfunny. I caught the Comedy Central Presents: Dane Cook on TV once by accident. It was hilarious. Then, I listened to the audio CD, which consists of Cook's one hour standup routine, uncut, and unedited. It is beyond hilarious. Probably one of the funniest things I've ever listened to in my life. Cook's jokes are hilarious, and his impressions are unforgettable.

If you want to laugh your ass off nonstop, buy the audio CD. You won't regret doing it. Dane Cook is probably the funniest standup comedian I've ever seen.

Score: 10 out of 10.

Hilarious, Off-the-Wall Special
travisimo29 March 2004
It's probably not very fair for me to write this review about Dane Cook's Comedy Central special since I've seen it about five times. It's a popular one for Comedy Central to show and is always at the top of the list whenever they have viewers choose countdowns for the best "Comedy Central Presents" specials. Even though I'm very familiar with the jokes, they still are pretty funny. I especially like the bits about the "finger" and how guys and girls view dance clubs. As Dane notes, "You'll never hear a guy go, 'Screw chicks tonight, bro! I gotta dance!!'"

Two of the bits that I personally didn't find too hilarious were the "Christ Chex" joke and going in a time machine to slap his dad when Dane was conceived. "I'm your son from the future! Hahahahaha!!!" The latter bit reminds me of something Bam Margera would do on the MTV show, "Jackass." I liked some parts of that show, but the stuff Bam did to his parents was pretty cruel and annoying. As for the "Christ Chex" bit, I'm just not too much of a religious person to really get involved in that joke. Just a difference of opinion.

All that aside though, this is one hilarious special! Nearly all his jokes and mannerisms had the audience and I laughing our heads off. Dane also makes the most use of the cameras and the audience that I've ever seen in any "Comedy Central Presents" special. He is hilarious to watch and is a one-of-a-kind comedian. Hopefully, some big things will happen in his career, and we'll hear much more from him.

My IMDb Rating: 9/10

The Alien

I have the new Dane Cook CD/DVD "Hard to Swallow." I highly recommend it to anyone who like to laugh. It has a 1hr audio stand-up routine of new and old material. The DVD has the aired Comedy Central Presents... show, the 1 hr unedited version, the Comics Come home skit, and the Premium Blend skit. VERY FUNNY and worth the money!!!

I loved this comedian
brookeisdabom30 December 2004
I totally recommend this comedian to everyone that loves to laugh! He kept me rolling around on the floor all night laughing. Every single joke made sense and involved humor. His religious jokes were definitely the best I've ever heard! "Christ Chex," had me in tears! When he talked about him wanting to be a snake; that made me laugh extremely hard! And they way he used the side cameras for the viewers at home, was definitely hilarious! All in all this comedian is the funniest I've ever seen. I recommend everyone to see this guys performance on comedy central. And if you like him, I also recommend Brad Stine. Eddy Izzard's "Dress to Kill" is also a must see. Watch these guys!!

Mohegan sun Dane Cook
shonnafalcone1 May 2023
We just saw Dane Cook at Mohegan sun last night.

This is the first time I seen him outside a movie screen but needless to say I was disappointed. His comedy consists of long drawn out stories. Did he have some funny parts, yes. It took to long to get to a funny point. A lot of people left mid show because they didn't like the show. Only reason we didnt leave was because we did pay like$80.00 for the tickets and i was hoping it would get better. His whole skit was pretty much about his career until this point. I won't return to see him again and wouldnt even go if the tickets were free. I'm very sorry we paid as much for the tickets that we did.

Dane Cook
shanmf-120 January 2005
I totally agree. I sat there once and watched Dave Chapelle because my cousin said he was funny, for an hour, and it was so stupid. Most of their comics aren't funny.

I just like him and Wanda Sykes. I bought the CD/DVD of his comedy sketches and I laugh hysterically every time I see it. I show it to everyone. It will get you rolling on the floor. I castaways he as on comedy central more often. I never catch him on it.

Plus he's good-looking so I enjoy it. I'm hoping to get to go to one of his shows but he is in Michigan for awhile, but if he comes to NYC or Philly I'm going! Advice: Go get his DVD, Harmful if Swallowed, it's great.

Tries To Hard
General_G30 August 2005
Dane tries to hard and is to extreme with all of his yelling and going crazy, spilling water on himself and rolling on the floor. To much. Calm down, get yourself together and make us laugh. I didn't quite understand his comparison toward comics and rock stars. Just because there both up on stage or something? He said that every comedian wants to be a rock star. I'm sure Rodney Dangerfield was really into that when he was alive. He had a few good jokes like the Burger King joke where people yell at the drive thru. I also liked the Reese's Pieces joke. If Dane just didn't act so mental he might be funnier and I might have given this a higher rating, as high as maybe an eight.

shut up

Warning: Spoilers
OK whoever this dude or chick is u obviously have no knowledge whatsoever about Dane Cook because any1 that has the least bit clue about him would know that emphasizing things is his style of comedy and his jumping around n yelling is what makes the jokes funny n more exciting to watch unless u would like for him to just sit on the stool n tell jokes with no feeling at all, which would ruin the whole point of comedians all together. and if u couldn't comprehend the comparison of comedians n rock stars then you're just stupid. so do everyone a favor n stop watching Dane Dook n don't criticize him cause we all know that u couldn't do any better.....ANYWAYS i thought that it was really fun to watch since i usually have to imagine what the jokes would look like n i loved this movie Dane's voices added a lot of emphasis n were hilarious

One of the absolute most hilarious things I have ever seen!
deathscythe_4215 April 2006
Dane cook is, in my opinion, the funniest man on earth. I saw the unedited full hour version of stand up special and nearly wet my pants laughing! He started out almost fairly slow. the jokes in the beginning are definitely funny just cuz they're dane cook, but they're not necesarilly amazing. but then suddenly like 10 or 20 minutes in I suddenly started laughing so hard practically non-stop that it was starting to hurt! Dane Cook is an absolute comic genius. He knows exactly what's funny and what's not. In this special he often plays off things that make you go "that is so true" which is another reason he's great, you can easily relate to his comedy.

Anybody who enjoys laughter at all, pick up Harmful if Swallowed, and watch this comedy central special and listen to the cd. both are just absolutely hilarious.
