Sex & Nudity

  • Eloise says that giving underwear is too personal.
  • Rachel's wedding dress is often skin-tight, and in one scene, features a bare shoulder design with low cleavage, though nothing explicit is ever shown.
  • Two men kiss a woman a few short times throughout, and one gives a lengthy passionate kiss at the end.
  • Nanny looks through a catalog and stops to look at men in long underwear, and blushes.
  • Eloise mentions that her chef friend, Patrice, knows who has eloped with the milkman.
  • "Knickers" is said once.

Violence & Gore

  • Eloise and Bill act out a sword fight; Bill is stabbed and pretends to die (meant to be comedic; their "swords" are a giant toy candy cane and a wooden spoon).
  • In a few scenes, Eloise slams the door to her suite, causing the Christmas lights to fall and/or break. One was where the Christmas lights explode all over the room. This was played for laughs.
  • Eloise kicks the barber in the shins after he insists she gets her hair done in a bob, rather than just a trim.
  • A girl faints upon seeing an old woman.
  • An old woman mentions that her poodle was attacked by Eloise's pet turtle.

Profanity

  • 1 use of hellion, for lord sakes and good heavens
  • Uses of religious terms ( "Good Heavens", "My God", "For Lord's Sake", "In God's Name".
  • Name-calling most done by Prunella (Hellion, Idiot, wedding wrecker, demonic child, etc.)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Nanny accidentally spills alcoholic cider down her shirt in one scene.
  • Brooks drinks booze and gambles at a hotel pub.
  • At the end of the film, Maggie is seen in her horse carriage outside the Plaza, drinking from a prominent wine bottle.
  • A few scenes of various types of alchol drank at parties, events, and in general.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Prunella can be a scary character for some young children, as she constantly makes rude remarks (many disrespectful), disturbing faces, and speaks in an aggressive tone.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There's an emotional scene where Eloise is under the impression Mrs. Thorton has died, and later believes she see's her ghost. (It's a missunderstanding)
  • Brooks locks Eloise in a storage locker, leaving her crying and alone.
  • Mrs. Thorton is in danger of being evicted from the plaza, which could be a touchy subject at this time (2008) due to the foreclosure crisis in the US. At the end of the film she is allowed to stay for the rest of her life however.
