Sex & Nudity

  • Tribal women dance in the beginning, showing quick flashes of their buttocks, not focusing too long.
  • In the beginning there are heavy make-out scenes between the husband and wife, with him on top of her, and at one point he begins making out with her while an African woman presses up against her from behind. The husband in the story has very weird sexual taste and at one point ties his wife's limbs to her bed, opens her nightgown and pours ice on her stomach. In another scene she seduces him and he begins making love to her while she's sitting on top of her dresser.

Violence & Gore

  • A man hangs himself in a study.
  • A man gets shot in a brawl in the beginning and all the blood is shown afterwards.
  • There's a horrible quick scene of a ghost hanging in the butchery with her wrists in meat manacles.

Profanity

  • Brief mild language. There's a lot of adult content regarding sex: the husband voices his strange sexual tastes more than once, at one point offering to sleep with his wife and her servant at the same time. It's also revealed that a friend of the family is gay and was caught with some other men in the workplace.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A lot of smoking and some drinking, as was common at the time of the story. The main character is also shown drinking a substance at the beginning of the film that clearly altered her judgement and seemed to knock her out, leading her to wake in bed later with her husband and another woman.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Several creepy ghosts are seen with hollowed-out eyes and sometimes miserable grimaces. There are also scenes where a child disappears, a seance is conducted, the house hisses several times in a hostile voice, and later the husband in the family sees an image of his child smile, then transform into a razor-toothed ghoul snarling at him.
