Childish storyline ripped off of a lame Hollywood movie, terrible acting, cheesy dialogue, and not quite "up-to-par" sex scenes. That's right another great softcore parody! I enjoyed this film greatly! Sure the acting is terrible, but that part of the fun! The storyline is ludicrous, but some things must be sacrificed when the story has to revolve around girl-on-girl sex scenes. And because it's only softcore (no penetration) the sex scenes were a little bland. But it's like the great god of softcore smut Russ Meyers said "who really cares what goes down beneath the waist." I don't know if I'd agree with Mr. Meyers on this one but what the hell... the flick entertained me for an hour and a half. I give it a C+, it would've been a solid B if they coulda cast more of the girls to look like Russ Meyers actresses. VaVoom! VaVoom!~

Funnier than expected
Stoli_Raz_N_727 March 2005
Sure, this film was retarded. But you expected that the moment you looked at the cover-box. It's a B movie, and on the T&A factor this movie delivered. Truthfully, it was funnier than expected. While it was by no means a work of comedic genius, like "The Party Animal" or "Orgazmo", as far as B movies go it was worth the watch, if you're into that sort of thing anyway.

Christians and morally-oriented parental groups, this is soft-core adult entertainment. If you don't want your children watching sexual content and nudity, then you should keep your children away from this film.

Not a good.
jgusw24 February 2004
This movie is bad. I saw the rated and the unrated versions. They are terrible!! Now, I know it's suppose to be a low budget, porn spoof of spiderman, but Spiderbabe is just not good at being bad-good. It's not funny! Not funny at all!! I wanted to laugh. I tried to laugh. But this movie let me down. At least the unrated version has lots of nudity to look forward to. And is it me, because Mundae is not a great looking woman. From the waist down she's okay, but on the way up leaves much to be desired. She does look good in that school girl outfit. Please, if you must watch this spiderbabe, rent it first. Rated or unrated, doesn't really make any difference, they're both bad to me!!

Better than Peter Parker
oxblood15 December 2004
This was a pleasant surprise. I caught it on cable one night and I figured it was what it turned out to be: soft-core porn. But it was much better than the usual "Red Shoe Diary" crap. It looked like a fun, sexy low-budget movie. Very Troma-like with flashes of comedy.

It followed the "Spiderman" story on the surface but Spidey never looked this hot! All the girls involved are sexy hot!! Misty Mundae and Julian Wells are phenomenal as well as Darian Caine. Lots of sex. But it's to the girls' advantage and not needlessly demeaning. My girlfriend and I have watched it several times and it seems to get sexier every time. I'm not ashamed to admit that I watch this kind of stuff. I've even heard other people at my office talking about it. I hope there's a sequel. NOT FOR KIDS!!!!!!

Spider Dud
duaneambroz19 December 2004
I'll preface my review by stating that I am not a fan of the independent 'straight to video' genre that owes a great debt to the grindhouse films of the 60's. I don't own any, I've never rented any, so I might lack the appreciation for these tongue-in-cheek, low-budget stinkers that many other people have.

I caught this movie on Cinemax late one Saturday evening with a lady friend. Please don't ask me why I was watching Cinemax late one Saturday evening with a lady friend. We were bored with World Championship Poker. Some atrociously bad acting courtesy of Misty Mundae (and I wish she wouldn't own up to being from Illinois, as we actually turn out some very bright thespians here) caught our attention. Now normally, the aim of some good soft-core porn would be to get you and your partner in the mood. Some good sex, tongue in cheek humor, and who know what could happen? After about 15 minutes, and a scene where the title character seduces a mugging victim, my lady friend said 'if you want to watch the rest of this fine, I am going to bed so I don't have to. Please turn the volume off.' Here is what I gather from the plot: Misty's character is a sexless nerd who gets bitten by a spider and turns into a super-sex kitten with super web slinging powers that don't come from her wrists. There is some sort of evil villainess involved, who didn't look particularly evil or sexy. Spiderbabe saves the day, has sex, M.J. (who is male in this film) constantly gets propositioned by stereotypically bad gay bikers, and somehow the evil villainess gets pushed off a building to her death.

What was good about this film? It ended.

What was bad about it? Acting to make a third grade pageant look like Oscar winners, a script turned out by people who I picture to be drunken, college-aged sex perverts who wouldn't know what sex is if they took a class taught by Dr. Ruth, special effects that were about as special as someone jumping off a trampoline, humor about as funny as… well, I have yet to encounter anything that is lamer. The sex scenes? If we were watching a video, the only thing those scenes would have turned on is the fast forward button. And the action scenes? Some of my old Atari VCS games had better choreography.

Now I know this type of film is supposed to be enjoyed for it's inherent badness. Companies like EI don't set out to make good movies: they have a niche and they target it. My experience as a marketer tells me they are right on the money in servicing their audience. But after my brief exposure to 'Spiderbabe', I for one can say I am not delving into that world again any time soon. Maybe the problem with the filmmakers in this type of genre is this: they spend so much attention to making the films bad, that if they made an effort to try and focus on those things they do very well, they would turn out some very enjoyable 'le bad' Cinema, a la Troma films in the 80's. Sorry folks; the spirit is there, but the effort isn't.

Though I have to admit that "Alice in Acidland" intrigues me

Waste of time
nuwildcatfan3 January 2011
The porn was terrible, the acting even worse. Don't waste your time on this crap.

Perhaps it was the editing, but the fight scenes were terribly done, and I wasn't even trying to take this seriously. Even the girl on girl stuff seemed to be going through the motions.

I watched for an hour hoping it would get better. It never did.

That said, Misty Mundae does have a pretty nice bod. So this movie at least has that going for it. Hopefully her other movies are a little less terrible, and are a little more tolerable.

Keep in mind, I didn't see the entire movie, so maybe it got better. I doubt it, though. Couldn't stomach watching any more of it.

Typical Seduction Cinema softcore lesbian parody.
b_kite25 June 2022
Typical Seduction Cinema softcore lesbian parody. Just a lot of non-stop boob rubbing and nipple licking. Young me used to totally go for this sort of thing and I'm sure this mostly just existed so pre teen kids in 2003 could stay up late and flip to Showtime just to see a titty or two. It probably helped a lot of them that lead star Misty Mundae (aka Erin Brown) looks like she's 15 years old.

A swing and a miss...
paul_haakonsen5 September 2023
Right, well I knew about this movie existing, but I never got around to watching it, not that I really actively were looking for the movie. But as luck would have it, I stumbled upon the movie here in 2023, and opted to sit down and watch it.

Turned out that I hadn't been missing out on anything great or grand with the 20 years of not having seen the movie since it was originally released. Yeah, the storyline in "SpiderBabe", as written by John Paul Fedele and Terry M. West, was amateurish and sort of ridiculous. Sure, there were some good enough ideas for a spoof here and there, but it was all ruined by the ridiculous softcore pornography.

Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with a single performer on the cast list, though I recognize the name and image of Darian Caine here on IMDb, though I have no idea whom I was watching on the screen. Not that it really mattered, though, because the acting performances "SpiderBabe" were amateurish, so at least they matched the script.

Visually then "SpiderBabe" is a low budget movie, no doubt about it. But I suppose that also has its charms, if you enjoy this kind of movie. The costumes in the movie were hilariously poor.

In fact, "SpiderBabe" looked and felt like it was shot on one of the cast or crew member's parents digital video and then handed in for a high school student to do the editing and cutting.

My rating of director Johnny Crash's 2003 movie "SpiderBabe" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

Spider farce
augustian14 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
There are R-rated and Unrated versions of this film and both are let down by poor writing, directing and editing. The plot follows the Spiderman films so that our heroine, Patricia Porker (Erin Brown/Misty Mundae) is bitten by a radio-active spider and becomes Spiderbabe, with the ability to shoot spider webs from a certain private part of her anatomy. She also becomes proficient at kick-boxing and here lies the problem - she hardly uses her webs to fight the criminals, so what is the point of her being Spiderbabe?

Both versions of the film have their plusses and minuses. The R-rated film has a really funny question and answer session between the students and Dr Dowell but this has been cut to almost nothing in the Unrated version. Similarly, an R-rated scene in which Patricia is packing up to leave home has a joke by Aunt Maybe about a friend called Michael Crotch (think about it) but is omitted entirely in the Unrated film so we do not know how Patricia ends up in another apartment. The (mainly lesbian) sex scenes are cut down in the R-rated film but go on for much longer (too long in my opinion) in the Unrated version.

The cast do their best with the material. Misty Mundae deserves better than this and is really pretty in a girl-next-door kind of way. She has a great Unrated scene with C J DiMarsico. Julian Wells hams it up as Femtilian. This is a typical sexy comedy Seduction Cinema production and should not be compared to mainstream films but even so, the crew should have remembered what being Spiderbabe was all about.

Another amusing Mundae flick
fdpugh25 January 2005
I'll have to admit that I am a big Misty Mundae fan... Lord of the G strings was the first flick I saw her in, and wasn't quite sure what to make of it at first.

Is the acting in her movies great? NO. Are the special effects mind blowing? NOPE. Does a porn/comedy really need plot or dialog anyway? Not at all!

Misty does not look like the typical $30k plastic-doll type of soft-core girl you are used too and that is refreshing, because she also has a personality. This shows through in Spiderbabe true to form. Lots of lesbian sex and nudity with out a lot of lame attempt at 'legit' film with useless plot and wasted time on back story. It lampoons Spiderman just enough so you know what it is based off of, but beyond that has great humor as well. Incidentally Spiderbabe went over the top with special effects this time... probably spent a few hundred bucks!

If you want "serious" acting and movie quality stay away from Misty Mundae movies...

Does Whatever a Spider Can?
juliankennedy2312 May 2005
Spiderbabe: 7/10: It is important to note I am comparing Spiderbabe to other films in the naked lesbian chicks that guys like to watch genre. I am not comparing it to other big budget superhero movies (though it is better than Daredevil or Catwoman) or movie parodies (nice to see one without Leslie Nielson though), nope strictly the soft-core lesbian porn for guys genre. In that category Spiderbabe is certainly well above average.

While not as good as say Lord of the G-strings or Embrace of the Vampire it marks a vast improvement over two recent Misty Mundae films, the equally atrocious Lust for Dracula and New York Wildcats. Unlike those two films you won't be fast-forwarding through the plot. Come to think of it unlike those two films you won't be fast-forwarding throughout the sex scenes either.

Spiderbabe doesn't suffer from the "good lord put your clothes back on honey" third tier actresses that often appear in these films. All the girls here are quite attractive. Yet strangely, since the lesbian sex scenes are not the most inventive ever created and there is no real erotic tension between the characters, it is the filler that stands out the most.

Spiderbabe is a surprisingly expansive point-to-point deconstruction of the first Spiderman movie. Everything from the tryout as a wrestler to the battle with the Green Goblin is given an erotic twist. And you'll never guess from where Spiderbabe shoots her web (hint it isn't her wrists).

While not as funny as G-Strings or erotic as Embrace, Spiderbabe deftly mixes lesbian sex scenes and spot on parody into an entertaining romp. If you like your lesbian porn with humor or for that matter your humor with attractive naked chicks Spiderbabe is for you. And lets all hope no one does an erotic remake of the Hulk shall we.

yes its soft-core porn, but its funny soft-core porn....
Animus2 August 2006
I admit I watched this movie because it was made by the people who did Lord of the G-Strings (another hysterical soft-core cable porn film) and had Misty Mundae (the original Misty not the new girl). The writer (West) seems to have a knack for send ups of big budget movies. The movie is a simple enough knock off of Spiderman but its the way it is pulled off that makes it worth watching, I suggest a 2 drink minimum for any guests who you intend to show it to though. Misty is a hoot as Patricia Porker and her aunt and uncle are twisted enough to make them funny. If you liked "Lord of the G-Strings" or "Playmate of the Apes" by the same people you'll like this one. By the way my comments are from the cable version, it's my understanding the DVD is unrated.

"Are we reeeeeally soooo different Spiderbabe?"
Dr. Gore2 January 2005
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT*

Holy cow. They actually spent some money on this one. Location shooting! Special effects! Lightning bolts! Spiderwebs! Massive explosions! Costumes! Misty Mundae actually looking hot! Wow. That was the best part.

I got to admit. Misty Mundae looked good in this one. Her Spiderbabe costume worked wonders for her. Speaking of hot costumes, Julian Wells rides the Bi-Polar express in a tour de force performance as Femtilian/Lucinda Knoxx. I like her much more when she loosens up. Most movies she's in she has got some serious pouting going on. In "Spiderbabe", her dastardly experiment turns her into a lizard babe and lets her have some fun. We all win when that happens.

So Spiderbabe runs around town and makes out with a lot of women. The citizens of New York are very grateful. I especially liked the Queen B wrestler scene. That was some good wrestling. The truly amazing thing about "Spiderbabe" is that it actually made me laugh! Misty Mundae made me chuckle with her various job fantasies, especially being the nurse. Overall, I was pleased with "Spiderbabe". It's worth a look.

Spider Yay
cymbal3g5 June 2005
"Spiderbabe" was simply amazing. The deep undertones of racial tension reverberated throughout the film. My southern heritage was called into question, and I was persuaded to leave the Daughters of the Confederacy. I am now an advocate for the dissolving of the Mason-Dixon line. Not only that, but now I know the true beauty of lesbian love.

The visual effects were so lifelike that at times my Acraphobia was agitated! My sexuality was aroused in an area that I never thought was possible: towards a woman. My roommate looks a little like Misty Mundae, and so I really became attracted to her. But, shhh, don't tell! The only thing that could have possibly made this Oscar-worthy film better was if they expanded on "Tender White: Grandma's Douche." I would give it a 69, but it only goes to 10.

Above par silly soft-core parody film
Groverdox22 September 2019
"SpiderBabe" is much better than I'd expected. You don't go to a soft-core b-movie expecting a serious and involving plot and top notch acting. You go for sex, nudity, and the occasional guffaw at the ridiculousness on screen. In a better than average b-flick, that guffaw may even be intentional.

"SpiderBabe" isn't really funny, but it does have some good sex in it, and Misty Mundae fits her role. Her success in the world of soft-core is not really surprising. The word that fits her more than any other is "natural". I believe audiences were getting tired of the surgically enhanced, bleach blonde and indiscernible starlets that grew on trees in the '90s when Mundae came along.

The film's tasteless humour and at times gratingly kitsch performances belie the fact that it is at times genuinely erotic. I say check it out.

lack of Effort, poor results
liudragon28 July 2004
Supposedly someone at EI came up with the great idea of aiming their cameras at Misty Mundae, think of s supposedly funny ripoff of a popular movie, take off Misty's clothes and you'll come up with a classic video. Time after time they are wrong, wrong, wrong. Misty's fun to look at but her acting has never improved enough to make her into a credible performer. This whole affair is amateurish and the poor camera-work and direction make this into another disappointing outing for EI and the unamusingly named director Johnny Crash. (Would that be funny to a 3rd grader?) A sexy farce of Spider-man is a good idea but let's let someone else with imagination and talent take a shot at it next time.

Spiderbabe, spiderbabe, does whatever that a Spiderbabe does...
danmax12 January 2008
This is a fantastic meditation on eroticism, pleasure and spiders... It had more spiders than Cronenberg's Spider, and more Babe than Pig in the City. The special effects are AWESOME, and it should be nominated for an Academy Award, when the time comes.

A young woman's inner struggle, between loving men and women, is beautifully portrayed with irony and humour. We have all been there. Ultra right conservatives will scream, but this might as well be the best feminist film of this era.

Funny, yet profound, entertaining, yet utterly important, this film is a wonderful portrait of a generation without a future and it is an allegory of the current situation, home and abroad.

Rent it. You won't regret it.

Very enjoyable Misty Mundae comedy vehicle
Woodyanders6 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Socially awkward nerdess Patricia Porker (the adorable Misty Mundae at her most sweet, fetching, and appealing) gets bitten by a radioactive spider and becomes Spiderbabe, a crime-fighting super-heroine who mixes it up with various baddies when she isn't making out with assorted lucky guys and gals. Director Johnny Crash, working from a witty script by Terry West and John Paul Fedele, relates the zany plot at a constant brisk pace, maintains an engaging tongue-in-cheek tone throughout, and pitches the uproarious off-the-wall humor at a hysterically broad level (gut-busting highlights include Patricia shooting webs from her crotch and a wild wrestling match that degenerates into a scorching hot lesbian free-for-all). Naturally, there's oodles of delicious bare female flesh and plenty of sizzling soft-core sex (mostly girl-girl stuff, although Misty does get it on with a man for once!). Moreover, it's acted with zest by an enthusiastic cast: Misty excels in one of her finest starring roles, Julian Wells has a field day as ruthless and unhinged schizophrenic villainess Lucinda Knox, who transforms into wicked supreme heavy Femtilian (and sports a gloriously ripe British accent), the luscious Darian Caine does well as Patricia's perky best gal pal Lisa Knoxx, plus there are nifty contributions from Adam Cox as likable hunk Mark Jeremy, Christine Domaniecki as the kooky and chipper Aunt Maybe, Peter Quarry as gross slob Uncle Flem, Michael R. Thomas as the bumbling Dr. Dowell, and Suzi Lorraine as Lucinda's enticing overpaid eye candy assistant Sally. Popping up in cool bits are Shelby Taylor as fierce wrestler Queen Bee and Ruby LaRocca as a young lady Spiderbabe saves from a gang of vicious clowns in a back alley. The clumsily staged fight set pieces and lovably hokey use of low-rent green screen further enhance this movie's considerable campy charm. M.A. Morales' sharp cinematography gives the picture a pleasing bright look. The sprightly score hits the spirited wacky spot. An absolute hoot.

There should be more lesbian superheros...
The_Void2 November 2008
Spiderbabe is something of a departure for Seduction Cinema; it's longer than their usual movies and the script actually feels like it took longer than about five minutes to put together. Of course that doesn't mean the film would qualify as Oscar material; but it does qualify as by far and away the best Seduction Cinema film that I've seen so far. As the title suggests, the film is a spoof of Spider-Man, only as you would expect from Seduction Cinema; there's plenty of lesbian sex thrown in too. The scenes ripped off from Spider-Man are rather well observed, however and the film is really funny; which is really what makes it better than the usual fare. The plot focuses on Patricia Porker; a shy young schoolgirl whose life is changed forever one day when she is bitten by a radioactive spider. She soon comes to terms with her new powers and after the death of her uncle, decides to use them unselfishly; only for the greater good, and to get laid. Spiderbabe then sets about protecting New York City from various villains, but faces objection from the local press and the mysterious Femtilian....

The film (along with the rest of Seduction Cinema's output) is clearly aimed at teenage boys; but really there's something for everyone to enjoy here. The lesbian sex is what will draw most people to the film; and there's certainly plenty of it. Naturally its only softcore, but its actually not badly done and often feels like its actually furthering the plot rather than just being thrown in as filler (although some of it definitely is filler). Where this film really works, however, is the humour; as it very funny, both for the jokes and for the in-your-face stupidity of it all. The film is a lot better in the special effects department than some other Seduction Cinema films; but it's still rather silly. For example, Spiderbabe's costume looks like it was the first thing picked off the shelf at a sex shop. As ever, we get a nice performance from the lovely Misty Mundae; and the supporting cast includes the likes of Julian Wells and Darian Caine. The film will clearly not appeal to everyone (anyone with taste need not apply!) but it's a lot of fun for anyone that enjoys this rubbish. And best of all...the ending leaves things wide open for a sequel, although sadly it doesn't look like one is coming; which is rather unfortunate if you ask me!

Spiderbabe
TGPinto5 December 2006
I saw this film one night at my friend's sleepover. I thought it wold be terrible, but it was great. The plot outline follows Spider-Man but the sex is much better than Peter and Mary Jane. There are numerous sex scenes, that go all out and break all the rules. There are probably about ten sex scenes in all, mostly girl on girl. It's pretty tacky, but pretty hot too. I saw this on TCM at 1:00 in the morning. It kept me and my friends up all night. The Lesbian scenes are great as Misty Mundane has hot sexual fantasies from the get go. It's corny and cheesy but who cares. It's a porn movie. It's not out to win an Oscar, just to make people watch it and say " Damn I wish that was me." Watch out for the Queen bee, she'll sting you. 8/10

A unique epiphany of the ultra-modernized adult imbroglio
GodfatherofMovies6 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
First i would like to mention the unbelievable computer technology. I loved the pictures that just slid across the screen in power point fashion. The cast was amazing starting with the obese drug abuser who insulted the Spiderbabe. They tried to keep close to the plot, but whenever there was a plot break, a random make-out scene would follow suit. It pleasured me to see such riveting making out. This movie was definitely not meant as a pornography, it was a comedy, and a rather bad one at that. It was still funny and contained graphic images that were quite aesthetically pleasing. Excuse my opinion, but if you watch this for "pleasuring" yourself, don't. it's not worth it.

This ain't no kiddy cartoon
barnettj15 August 2005
If you are a fan of spoof films and soft core porn, then this film belongs on your Must-See list. Need I mention that any fan of Misty Mundae will also be pleased to watch this film that has enough of a plot to be entertaining and enough of Misty to be titillating (pun intended). Although this film was not intended to be a blockbuster, I do think it would have benefited with more directorial experience, but at least this guy is aware of Misty's acting style, which I find refreshing in its lack of ham.....sometimes you just want to leer at some body. Spiderman has always been my favorite superhero, but I am not a fan of Sony's recent efforts. In fact, my dissatisfaction with the sequel is what led me to seek out Spiderbabe. I am glad I did, and I have now placed this film on my wish list of DVD's (ok, it's not at the top of the list, but also nowhere near the bottom), and you can bet that I am holding out for the Unrated 2-disc set....I can't wait to see the bloopers and outtakes.

I will only use these powers for good - and to get laid.
lastliberal29 October 2008
Oh yes, this is the Spider-man that should have been shown in the theaters. It was obviously blocked by those sexist moguls who think that special effects should rules the day.

There were special effects in this film. Spiderbabe could shoot a web just like Spider-Man, but she was way more creative shooting her web from between her legs.

And, how about that supporting cast - Julian Wells, Darian Caine, Shelby Taylor, and Suzi Lorraine? Boy, did they provide action that was missing from the Spider-Man franchise.

This film didn't need a writer. It followed the Spider-Man script almost word for word. The difference was the pauses in the action for girl on girl canoodling. and the upside-down kiss we are all familiar with being extended as Spiderbabe lowered herself afterwards for more.

As parodies go that was a lot of fun to watch. No, it's not Oscar material, but you won't fast forward through it either.

Sucky sense is tingeling
movieman_kev10 November 2003
A soft-core parody of Spiderman. Misty Mundae is Patricia Porker, a nerd, who gets bitten by a spider and becomes spiderbabe. And yes her web shooting abilities ARE organic, but they don't come from he wrists...I wanted to like this movie, I really did. I started the dvd with high hopes. Alas this film has 3 strikes against it. The comedy just isn't funny. Strike one. It seems too long. strike TWO. And the sex scenes...well they're not sexy. STRIKE THREE!! I'm sorry to all who were involved in this film, but in this outing you've just been struck out.

My Grade: D

DVD Extras: Both the R and unrated versions; Misty Mundae and Julian Wells Interview;Music Video and the "Making of";Outtakes & Bloopers ;"OutThere TV" Clip featuring Emily Booth;3 deleted Scenes; Behind-The-Scenes; Making the Costume; Trailers for "Screaming Dead", "Lord of the G-strings", "Play-mate of the Apes", "Lustful Addiction", "Dr. Jekyll & Mistress Hyde", "satan's School for Lust", "Erotic Vampire in Paris", "Roxanna", & "Misty Mundae: Mummy Raider"
