I happened upon this movie looking for shorts to view and a web site recommended it. It's an entertaining short with good direction. I thought the acting was good but I wasn't satisfied with the ending. Overall, though, I give it 7/10.

Not bad for an early effort

Warning: Spoilers
LAND OF MANY USES is a short film about a woman who hitches a ride--only to pull a gun and try to hijack the car. However, there are a few plot twists and turns here and there that keep you guessing.
This is a decent short film considering it's one of the first films made by director Stokes. As for the acting, I'd pretty much say the same--for struggling young actors, it wasn't bad--just don't expect the same polish from this film as you'd find from many of the higher budget short films. Now all this may sound rather critical, but it isn't. I understand that short films are often the training grounds for young professionals in order to hone their craft--and LAND OF MANY USES is such a film. There are some interesting elements and with a bit more polish (which will come with time and experience), the team making this will undoubtedly go on to greater projects.
