Decent follow up to the Snow Queen
TheLittleSongbird7 March 2010
I found myself enjoying the 1995 film The Snow Queen, and when I heard there was a follow up, The Snow Queen's Revenge, I told myself I I must see it. My thoughts after I saw the film? Decent, but not as good as the Snow Queen. The animation wasn't too bad, some of the backgrounds and colours are really pretty. The music isn't as memorable here, but it was pleasant enough. The voice acting from Hugh Laurie, Alison Steadman, Elizabeth Spriggs and Imelda Staunton to name a few was also top notch, and The Snow Queen is once again a great villainess looking as chilling as she sounds. However, The Snow Queen's Revenge isn't without its deficiencies. The plot here is a little lacklustre, the Snow Queen was based on the timeless story that still enthralls me at 17. Here, the plot takes a while to get going and does drag in spots. Also the film is too short at a mere 64 minutes approximately, and the scripting isn't always that great. Overall, decent but great? Not really, but I would watch it again if given the choice. 6/10 Bethany Cox

same as the first

Following the first story, Dimly the reindeer carry Ellie and her brother Tom with Peeps back to the village. The Snow Queen is frozen. Dimly takes Freda back leaving the trolls at the frozen palace. The bats gives the Snow Queen back her staff freeing her. The trolls switch sides, Dimly is captured, and the Snow Queen seeks revenge on Ellie. This time she goes to the South Pole. Ellie and Peeps go to rescue Dimly with the help of Brenda the bird.

This is a direct sequel to the first movie and pretty much the same thing. If you like the first, you'll probably like this sequel. I don't think one should watch this without the first one. I don't know why Tom doesn't go on the adventure with Ellie. The talky sing songs are not that good which is the same as the first.

Great Movie, for the most part.

Warning: Spoilers
I find out about the first "The Snow Queen" around 2005. Getting it for my birthday was a definite excitement! Being a kid I loved fairy tales, and of course darker fairy tales like this. Anyway, the first movie was phenomenal and I will always keep it and watch it over and over again. Now for "The Snow Queen's Revenge". In my opinion it was just as good as the first one, but lacked the sense of adventure and wonder that a child looks for in a movie about fairy tales. The voice acting was amazing however. I only wish that Tom, Ellie's brother, was in this one. This one however contained more, dark-ish characters. For example: When Ellie and Peeps fell off of Brenda, they were rescued by a treasure seeking husband and wife team. After learning that they where wanted by the snow queen they decided to lock them up and turn them in for money. Other then that it was a great movie and I would definitely see it again and again. But the last thing is that there is no THIRD MOVIE! After all, at the end the Snow Queens eyes glow ominously, even after she was in-cased in lava, thus saying she is alive. Why didn't they make another to not leave the audience hanging... AGAIN! Well, that's my review hope you enjoyed!
