Sanju's Bad Days
superindrajit12 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
After Dutt was arrested for giving shelter to terrorists and smuggling arms, he was in his worst days ever. During the period after his last blockbuster Khalnayak from 1993-1997, he was in prison. Though, he was released in 1995 to complete some of his films and re arrested and re released in 1997. Luckily, he completed his unfinished films in time but failed to complete his dubbing. To make matters worse, all of Sanju's films releasing after 1993 post Khalnayak till Dushman 1998, were either flops or washouts at the market. Namak was released in 1996 and this was too in the time period of when he was in prison. Namak wasn't a flop nor a disaster. It was a complete washout earning a few lakhs and maybe a few crores in its lifetime earnings, this film was the mother of disasters at its time of release. The audience found this film to be another typical family drama which turns into a mindless action film and it is poorly handled. Kawal Sharma the director was an assistant director to main super hit film making directors. But sadly, he couldn't create the magic his seniors could. The film has a age old story dealing with enemities in the big family and how the servant Dutt will become the leader after lots of family arguments and finish of the betraying elder cousins. Dutt gives another trash performance after his previous films like Zamana Se Kya Dara although Andolan was a decent film and so was Aatish. His voice is again dubbed by Chetan Shasital which doesn't suit him at all. He sleepwalks through his role and provides no effort just like he did in 5 flops last year though his 6th flop Andolan was a good movie and Aaatish was a hit. On the whole, Namak doesn't work even with the good concept of changing a family drama into an action film which doesn't work even in the 90s. A must avoid for even Sanju fans who will be disappointed mostly at Dutt's dubbing by Chetan Shashital.

A poor photocopy of a Pakistani original!
nitejoker62 September 2020
This is a poorly acted photocopy of Namak (1979) from Pakistan. The story dialogues, music and song are all word to word copy to the extent that Indian writers didnt even bother to translate to common hindi from pure Urdu. The soundtrack, Mera Pyaar, lifted and destroyed. The original was sung by the great Mehdi Hassan, after all.

Despite of Stellar Star cast no reason to watch this crap!!
sauravjoshi851 October 2022
Namak is an action film directed by Kawal Sharma. The film stars Late Nirupa Roy, Late Shammi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Farah, Siddhant Salaria, Gulshan Grover, Shakti Kapoor, Raza Murad and Prem Chopra.

A servant, is announced as the heir to his employer's estate as their lone son is missing for a long time, the siblings of his master's family plot against him.

One of the most terrible film I've ever seen with such a stellar star cast. The film which is a copy of a Pakistani film of the same name doesn't excites little bit.

The execution of the film is terrible and apart from being some of the finest actors of Indian film industry wasn't able to save this ship from sinking. Songs are bad and forgettable and acting is average with Siddhant Salaria is very bad, dubbing is also very poor and terrible. Please avoid this crap.

Another Sanju Baba dubbed film
silvan-desouza12 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Sanjay Dutt during jail period had several films left incomplete which he didn't dub for, NAMAK is among them(perhaps last one). The film however also has Shammi kapoor, Dinesh Hingoo, Jagdeep alongwith Sanjay with dubbed voices. The film has a plot resembling an 80s film, a horrible film which is boring, Also some scenes leave you baffled due to no continuity, Like A bearded Sanju reaching home clean shaven, many more scenes too leave you confused.

Direction is bad Music is okay

Sanjay Dutt with a dubbed voice is okay, but however did his dubbing sounds stupid, Farha is okay, Shakti Kapoor, Raza Murad, Gulshan Grover, Prem Chopra are as usual, Shammi Kapoor is okay but why his voice is dubbed? Nirupa Roy is okay rest are okay
