It's a weak trial version of ''Amelie''. It subjects different people having dysfunctional relationship experiences and accordingly seeking for new keys to better lives.

Warning: Spoilers
It's a weak trial version of ''Amelie''. It subjects different people having dysfunctional relationship experiences and accordingly seeking for new keys to better lives. The narrative is also the same as Amelie. The outer voice gives some details about people's jobs, ages, habits etc. There is also a similar example to Jeunet's piece: ''Tonight in Brno 150000 people will have sex'' which takes place ''15 people are having orgasm right now'' in Amelie. Although I like Chech movies in general that it picked lots of awards in the Republic actually surprised me. But if you're fond of European films you should see it though.

Certainly the best czech movie and overall one of the best movies ever made!!!

As I visited Slovakia this winter and read a survey about that film I really had high expectations!

After walking into the theater the film was written and told in a bit different way as I thought before, because I thought it would be focused basically on the specific main characters, but it was split in many different characters, but it was even far beyond any expectations of mine I had before.

This movie was told so lovely and so naturally with a mix of a special taste of humor combined with a very sweet, overwhelming and romantic love-story which was so powerful you rarely find in any other Hollywood movie nowadays.

I recommend everyone to see it and I'm sure that many people will get dragged to watch it again and again and again.

It has everything, really everything a really good movie needs!

Superb acting, even in the supporting roles, an excellent script, a very special and pacing atmosphere, a special tension of romantic and erotic, a wonderful music and many really captivating songs. The music plays an important and inevitable part in the movie and of course the leading included love story between two mentally ill people is dramatic, funny and captivating at the same time.

Of course it's best to see it in the original czech version! possibly with titles otherwise the main atmosphere and special taste could get lost.

I highly recommend it to everyone! You won't be disappointed.

That's one of the very very few movies I will rate 10/10(if possible it would get 12/10 for the fascinating and really clever placing of the several relationship between people)

A true masterpiece that should never be missed!

That's not only a movie by itself, it's a present for mankind.

Great real cinema

I think that film is right about it... Not only about hollywood-class movies - don't anything against Hollywood. Boredom in Brno is about art, is about "silver cinema", it's about feelings, it's about picturesque camera... no more words, just watch it!

Bored in Brno
jgziegler23 March 2006
I would say that the title fits the film but since most of the film wasn't even shot in Brno (Hradec Kralove I believe) it doesn't live up to the second half of its name. The first half does. The theme of interconnected stories is common in Czech films, and not a bad one since this is a rather small country and what might be 6 degrees of separation in the US is more like 2 here, but the story is simply boring. The lack of colour in the film, expresses boredom. The funniest scenes are in the beginning, but once they get to Brno, boring. In that sense, the film lives up to its title. By the end of the film, I didn't really care about the characters. Life in Brno might be slow, but not as slow as this film (which was shot in Hradec Kralove)

Bored everywhere

I do not understand why this movie is considered best czech movie ever... I like czech movies very much but this one doesn't carry any idea - maybe I just haven't found any :( Movie is too slow, black and white, not funny at all and what is worst it is boring, boring, boring... If you want to see a good modern czech movie try Knoflikari, Samotari, Pelisky, Pupendo etc. I've rated movie with 5 because I think that you should see it to make up your own mind. Please let us know what you have found interesting and worth about this picture. Next thing I do not understand is how could a movie like this earn five golden lions ( czech movie award ) So once again - I didn't get the point of that movie but if you will - my congratulations ;)
