The series about the lives of high school students ran for exactly ten years – from 1990 to 2000. The most successful seasons of Beverly Hills, 90210 were watched by 14.5 million viewers in the US alone, and by the same number of fans around the world.
During this time, the main characters evolved from shallow high school students to complex personalities, dealing not only with common teenage problems, but also with more serious issues such as alcoholism and domestic violence.
Despite the fact that the main characters became world famous, Beverly Hills, 90210 was the first and last major project for most of the cast.

The Man Stood in the shadow of the trees facing the small tan house. He was tall and had the close-cropped military haircut of the Marine he’d been until deserting his post a few weeks earlier. A black mask covered his face, he wore a one-piece camouflage suit, and carried a .300-caliber blackout rifle and a .22-caliber handgun.

I’ve been sick as a dog this past week after bringing home a bug from my horror adventures at PanicFest. In my semi-delirious haze of sneezing out my eyeballs, bottomless teas, and naps on demand – there’s one guilty pleasure I always seem to gravitate to. Reality TV. But once you dig through the ditches and burn through the witches, there are plenty of real-life frights to be found…
Reality TV has provided us with many horror-themed shows that will have you screaming at your screen. From prank shows to survival challenges, these shows take horror to a whole new level. So, put on your brave face and get ready for a guide to the best horror reality TV series of all time.

It was while I was researching The Book of Horror, an illustrated guide to the scariest movies ever made, that I first started seeing things.
Not the full Haley Joel Osment, you understand, but what we’ll call a seventh sense. I’d catch glimpses of something out of the corner of my eye, and my mind would fill in the blanks with spooky imagery because I was consuming so much of it.
It didn’t help that my son had just been born. Lack of sleep combined with horror movie overload is a condition I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Night becomes dawn becomes day – the full George A Romero – and reality becomes harder and harder to rely upon.
Driving past the local garage one evening, I saw a Creepshow skeleton caked with remnants of clinging skin staring out at me from the front seat of a car. Watching The Great British Bake Off,...

Like every other studio and production company in the business of making movies and TV shows, Blumhouse Productions has watched its content pipeline come to a nearly complete stop for much of 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic swept around the globe.
Active work — including pre-production, live filming and post-production — initially ground to a halt for the better part of the past seven months, with production initially starting up again overseas only toward the end of summer as places like the U.K. and other European locales seemed to get a lid on the virus.
Meanwhile, the business of creating new movies and TV series has slowly begun to awaken again here in North America, although the U.S. in particular and its failed leadership have showed no real signs of containing Covid-19 in a meaningful way. But some companies are back at work, with limited personnel and strict safety protocols in place,...

“Scare Tactics” co-creator Scott Hallock has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit over the Netflix show “Prank Encounters,” saying his former partner had no right to create a show similar to their original.
Hallock filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against Kevin Healey and Propagate Content, the producers of “Prank Encounters,” which premiered last year and was hosted by “Stranger Things” star Gaten Matarazzo. (Netflix is not a named defendant in the lawsuit).
In the lawsuit, Hallock says when he and Healey parted ways in 2016, Healey signed over all his rights to “Scare Tactics” — a scripted comedy/horror hidden camera television show that began production in 2002 and ran for five seasons on Syfy.

Salacious behavior, twists that push the human psyche to the extreme, and pressure-cooker production schedules are just some situations for which reality-show contestants may be signing on. Add in the increasing role of social media and audience tendencies to see contestants as characters, and providing proper mental-health support becomes more important than ever.

The Evil Within – a strange, gory film pored over meticulously in his mansion by the oil dynasty scion Andrew Getty until his death – is finally getting a release
It arrived with little fanfare, practically in secret; a Z-list horror film with the unassuming title The Evil Within recently surfaced on Amazon’s video-streaming library, left to molder alongside such little-seen cannon fodder as Stake Land II and It Lives in the Attic. To the untrained eye, it would look like another helping of half-baked schlock, cranked out over a couple of weeks in pursuit of a quick paycheck. But upon further inspection, just beneath the outermost layer of synthetic goo and foam-rubber prosthetics, there lies a passion project built on a foundation of uncommon artistic commitment. Far from a fly-by-night cash-grab, The Evil Within represents 15 years’ worth of effort, standing today as a testament to its creator’s singular mad ambition.

So, you want to start reading Batman but are completely lost due to the character being around for over seventy-five years, and hundreds of issues and iterations on the character.
Where do you start? What If you only like some of the movie versions? Or maybe the video games?
What’s the New 52? What’s Rebirth?
It can be daunting if you are completely new to the world of comic books or maybe a returning fan that’s been away for a long time. While hardcore fans have probably stuck around for all the various Bat books, most maybe only keep up via Wiki or maybe random postings on sites like Cbr or IGN. Well, fear not, as I will be doing my best to give some insight on iconic Batman storylines essential to the character, along with a brief update on the current state of the character!

Presenting murderous moppets on screen is always a dicey proposition. For every The Bad Seed or The Omen, there is always The Good Son or Mikey skulking about. It’s all about the fear – making a five or ten year old believably frightening is hard to do. As audience members, we put our faith in filmmakers to produce tension, conflict, and danger in a palpable (but not necessarily plausible) way, and when it’s tested we end up wading through Children of the Corn. But when our faith is rewarded, we find ourselves in the Village of the Damned (1960), a seminal killer kid chiller.

While most of the industry is ramping up for awards season campaigns, casting director Carmen Aiello is starting his own campaign – against auditioning. The Chicago transplant is trying to bring back the human element to casting. Aiello has worked in TV (“CSI: Miami, “Scare Tactics”) and film (“Excision,” “The Employer”) casting, as well as spending time at an agency and as a junior manager, giving him an understanding of the casting process from all sides. “If you have a name you don’t have to audition, you just have to meet with them, but if you don’t have a name and you don’t have credits you have to audition in order to validate your career. In order to validate your talent.” Aiello says the process of bringing in hundreds of actors to “see if they can act in a cold room” with people staring at them was excruciating.

My query: Is it right to frighten an unknowing victim?
We have shows like “Scare Tactics,” where friends set up other friends to be put in horrifying situations, and of course, “Punk’d” episodes where friends are put in awkward situations.
The big difference is shows like the above are staged by friends for friends. And the victims’ friends are aware of their friends’ limits.
My reason for this discussion: there is a video circulating where a person(s) is set up in a fake elevator where the lights go out, and when the lights come back on, a little girl...

Monsters University managed a strangely subtle debut for a Pixar film, earning neither the high praise of most of their works, nor the backlash of Cars 2. Instead, the film was met with medium reviews, a lot of happy kids, and a very curious feeling of nostalgia for characters that aren’t actually all that old.

Chicago – In an incredibly weak time for feature animation (since the glory of 2010, it’s been pretty dark out there), Pixar’s “Monsters University” has enough personality and genuine humor to stand out from its generic competition. It also helps the film’s quest for another Pixar Oscar for Best Animated Film that the recently-released Blu-ray is a gem, loaded with special features and including a spectacula HD transfer. It falls between the amazing “Toy Story 3” and the awful “Cars 2” on the Pixar spectrum but it’s still a good time and will make a lovely holiday season gift.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
“Monsters University” cleverly plays with what parents will already know and love about the college movie genre. The underdogs who overcome all odds — it’s an animated “Revenge of the Nerds” in a lot of ways. Overall, the film has a remarkable momentum, never succumbing to pacing problems...

If the last week of October arrived without a healthy dose of Halloween-oriented programming ... well, it couldn't be the last week of October.
As people of all ages get ready to celebrate, with or without costumes, various television networks will be doing the same. Here's a sampling of some of the offerings intended to be treats more than tricks.
"The Good Witch's Destiny" (Sunday, Oct. 27, Hallmark Channel): Repeating from its premiere the previous week, the sixth of Catherine Bell's fantasy movies makes the birthday of her supposed-sorceress character Cassie quite memorable.
"Paranormal Activity" (Sunday, FX): Which forces are causing a young couple (Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat) great alarm in their home? They use video equipment to find out in this cost-effective 2007 horror hit.
"Hocus Pocus" (Sunday, ABC Family): The first of the last five of the channel's "13 Nights of Halloween" includes this seasonal movie favorite,...

Halloween is a scary time for sure. Ghost, goblins, life without 30 Rock. Ok, so that last one might just be specific to Tracy Morgan, who for the first time since 2006 doesn’t have Liz Lemon to befuddle. But the boisterous comedian has plenty going on to stave off any fearful boredom. There’s his new standup special, which he was in the process of editing when we talked, and a marathon of new episodes of Scare Tactics airing Monday on Syfy. The hidden-camera show, where people set up unsuspecting friends or family members for pranks meant to bring them to […]

Will you join Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) and her merry band of misfits for a Super Fun Night every Wednesday (at 9:30/8:30c)?
Super Fun Night follows Kimmie (Wilson) and her two best friends Marika (Lauren Ash, Scare Tactics) and Helen-Alice (Liza Lapira, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23) as they try to turn their weekly girls’ night in into a raucous girls’ night out. Most of the comedy comes from the gals’ overwhelming awkwardness and inability to fit in.

Rebel Wilson's dress bursts open, revealing a pink bra and panties, which naturally have light-up hearts strategically placed. Underneath, she wears Spanx.
The overall effect is silly and funny, and only someone wildly unself-conscious could pull it off.
Wilson, star and writer of ABC's "Super Fun Night," premiering Wednesday, Oct. 2, reflects on that scene.
"To me, it's not brave," she says to Zap2it. "I am just doing what the character would do. It was freezing that night. It was damp and beastly cold. I don't care what I look like if it is funny."
She draws from her life for this show, in which she plays Kimmie, an attorney just promoted within a large New York law firm. In 2009, Wilson graduated from law school. She worked briefly "giving free legal advice at a clinic," she says, "but I could not get a job at a law firm because...

Disney/Pixar’s well-reviewed Monsters University is a prequel of sorts of Monsters Inc.
Monsters Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal, Cars) and James P. Sullivan “Sulley” (John Goodman, Flight) are back in this animated movie, but they’re younger and in the elite Scare Program, learning the best ways to scare.
For Mike, it’s a dream come true. All the best scarers come from Mu. But when he meets natural-born scarer Sulley, Mike’s dream is derailed. Their competitive spirits get both young monsters kicked out of the program and the only way to make things right is to work together.
The voice cast also includes Steve Buscemi (TV’s Boardwalk Empire), Helen Mirren (Hitchcock), Alfred Molina (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), Sean P. Hayes (The Three Stooges...

In less than a month, the broadcast networks will be announcing which new series they're picking up for the 2013-14 season. Zap2it can't wait for that, though, so this week we're doing a series of pilot previews.
In addition to this gallery of 22 shows we hope the networks order to series, we're also going to take a closer look at pilot scripts from each of the networks. While a lot can change between now and a series premiere, and these are by no means full reviews, we hope to offer some insight at some of the projects the networks are considering this spring.
In Zap2it's 2012 pilot preview gallery, we flagged the comedy "Super Fun Night" as one of the shows we hoped CBS would order. That didn't happen, but ABC grabbed the rights to creator-star Rebel Wilson's show and revamped it, switching the format from multi-camera to...

"Batman: Detective Comics Volume 2: Scare Tactics" collects issues 8 through 12, 0, and the annual for the Dark Knight's flagship monthly title. Unlike most of the past collections, this one is comprised of several stories penciled by many different artists. We usually get two or three different story arcs, but this time there's a few one-shot stories and one tale that stretches across multiple issues.
"Scare Tactics" has Batman going after the wrong criminal. Someone is using the Scarecrow's toxin to further their own diabolical plan. Can the Dark Knight track down the real criminal looking to strike fear into the heart of Gotham?
"The Owls Take Arkham" drops Batman directly into the center of the most dangerous asylum in the DC Universe. He must find a way to rescue Jeremiah Arkham from being assassinated by the Talons under orders of the Court of Owls. In the process, he runs into a...
