I saw High Voltage (2002) with about half a dozen friends, including my girlfriend. I have to say, I thought that it was going to have a much more feasible plot than it actually did. I am one of those people who always has to pick apart the plots of movies and find all the plot holes and this movie just completely fell apart. I'm 20 and all of the other viewers of this movie were in the age group of 18-20, consisting of both males and females. The movie does maintain a sense of suspense in the viewer, but the violence is senseless and infeasible. None of the male viewers present, myself included, found this movie to be scary. My girlfriend and the other female viewers thought that its violence was scary, but admitted during and afterward that it was unrealistic and could have been better written. My girlfriend is one of those girls who gets really into movies and, therefore, gets scared by them easily. She seemed more shocked than truly terrified.

Also, the writer and director did not do a good job of masking the plot such that the viewers cannot figure it out. That is, it was rather predictable. Frankly, when the plot is completely revealed to the viewer, it's disappointing that the writer wasn't more creative. We actually made fun of the movie afterward.

If you are considering renting or purchasing this movie, I urge you not to waste your money. I would, instead, spend it on Se7en (1999), Memento (2000), When A Stranger Calls (2006), Silence of the Lambs (1991), or Scream (1996).

High Voltage (2002) wasn't the worst movie that I've seen, but I certainly wouldn't waste my time or money to see it again.
