• Prof. Amarnath Vidyalankar : It is essential to rebel. But there's a method to it.

  Bhagat Singh : Non-violence?

  Prof. Amarnath Vidyalankar : Gandhi isn't the only alternative. The masses have enough power to uproot the mightiest regime. Organize them like the Bolsheviks did in Russia. It can be done here too, definitely it can be.

• Bhagat Singh : The enemy can kill people, not their ideals. And as long as our ideals live, the party lives. We shall nourish these ideas with our blood. Our goal is revolution. Let us take the revolution to the masses, whatever the price.

• Bhagat Singh : [singing]  It is time to test the power of the enemy's blade.

• Bhagat Singh : I am saying the choice is yours, sir. Leave my land or get thrown out.

• Bhagat Singh : We cherish human life. We'd sooner die than kill an innocent man. But this policeman is not innocent. His actions reflect the cruelty and inhumanity of the power behind him. By hitting him, we attack that power.

The aim is to build a nation. A nation which guarantees equal rights to all in society. A society that doesn't discriminate on grounds of religion. A nation that does not tolerate the exploitation of man by man.

• Bhagat Singh : Violence is when you use force to exploit people, to oppress them. The fight for one's life, for dignity, for rights is not violence. It is self-defense.

• Jailor : Your hunger strike makes no difference. Why are you doing this?

  Bhagat Singh : Because I can't tolerate injustice.

  Jailor : And I can't tolerate disobedience.

  Bhagat Singh : Very well, Jailer. You be loyal to your job. I'll be loyal to my country.

  Bhagat Singh : Whenever I thought of my country, you were the one I saw. You were my inspiration, Mother. You are my strength.

• Bhagat Singh : Do you realize what you have done? You have gone and abjectly appealed for mercy to that very court, the very government that we reject! I know you don't agree with my methods. But you have no right to interfere with my fight! Forgive me, Babu-ji. But you have stabbed me in the back.

  Kishan Singh Sandhu : [crying]  Bhagat. No, son. I'm your father. You tell me, what could I do? What could a father do?

  Bhagat Singh : You can be an inspiration for other fathers... so that they do not hesitate to send their sons to die for freedom... This is a test for all of us, father. We will have to be strong.

• Bhagat Singh : Is this your law? Is this your justice? You are cowards, killers in the guise of judges! Never again shall we set foot in this dishonest and corrupt place!

• Justice Hilton : Mr. Singh, some hard decisions have to be taken to rule this poor and... illiterate country.

  Bhagat Singh : I strongly object, Your Honor. Neither my country is poor, nor is it illiterate. Before your ancestors had a language, our children were reading scriptures. The fame of our golden land dragged you all the way from England. Under the guise of trade, the English came here to plunder us.

• Bhagat Singh : No, Ma, don't cry. See, if you cry, so will I. Then what the world say? That Bhagat Singh cried because he feared death?

  Vidyavati Sandhu : No one will say that. Your Ma will not weep. And nor will Bhagat Singh. Go, son. Remember to say 'Long live revolution.'

• Bhagat Singh : [rejecting an offer to help him escape from prison]  No, Sinha. I haven't accomplished even a thousandth of what I want to. Tell Pundit-ji, the war continues. And I can't flee now.

  Bijoy Kumar Sinha : Do you realize where this is headed? To the gallows. What will you accomplish by dying?

  Bhagat Singh : Do you know what I really dream of? I dream of my death inspiring the youth of this country to plunge into the battle for freedom. They also jumped into the fight for freedom without fear. You know, if that happens, then our dream of a great nation, will surely come true. Of an equal society free from exploitation... a secular country. Blood won't be shed between communities. Where Hindus and Muslims don't kill each other over temples and mosques... Where every religion and sect happily co-exist... That dream of a genuinely secular society... will come true. Then India will be great.

• Bhagat Singh : Get out while you still can, fellows. If our 300 million Indians were to just shout in unison, you hundred thousand Britishers will be running away deaf.

• Bhagat Singh : [singing]  Like the fragrance of the grain, we will live in every crop our farmers raise.

• Bhagat Singh : To hell with your order and to hell with your law! You may announce your pre-determined sentence whenever you wish. Long live revolution!
