Worse than a Trashy Soap
leekandham31 August 2002
This has to be one of the lowest points in Hong Kong cinema history with an emotionless story full of clichéd mixed metaphors, and a script worse than that found in adverts for home hygiene products.

The Saving Hands tells of Fei, a member of a triad gang and whose best friend was knee-capped after a gang fight. Things begin to turn nasty, as he is pursued by his enemy and rival, Dinosaur. As he learns of the betrayals by his boss and friends, he encounters Cathy and her family, a Christian family who then try and straighten his ways.

There is very little praise I can give to this film. Given the evangelical message this film is trying to pass on - the lead credits did noticeably mention a gospel consultant - it feels as though the very idea that they are trying to make a film was completely lost. What results is a film that just appears to be a trashy teen soap even below a par with Heartbreak High.

In summary, this is not a film l would recommend unless you are really looking for a boring movie. It really surprises me that someone would decide to spend any money on this film, because it was an absolutely dire script from the outset.
