Trivia for
House of the Dead (2003)

advertisement
  • The movie is set before the events of the first House of the Dead video game.

  • There are 32 video clips from the original game inserted in several parts of the movie. From which 26 are inserted during the 10-minute-long battle in front of the house. The remaining 6 are used as transitions to change scenes prior to the battle.

  • At the end of the film the survivors are rescued by a helicopter. As it is landing two men dressed in trench coats get of the helicopter. This is a reference to the original House of the Dead video game in which the protagonists are two special agents in over coats.

  • The fisherman with the hook (gaff) at the beginning of the movie is a reference to the killer in I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997).

  • At the beginning of the movie, Greg says, "Who's the U-boat captain?" when he sees Capt. Viktor Kirk (Jürgen Prochnow). Prochnow was the captain in Boot, Das (1981)

  • During the rave, the Sega logo is displayed in the background. Sega is the company that produced the game this movie is based on.

  • On the second day of shooting, Jonathan Cherry burned 30% of his hand. This is the reason he has a bandage on it. They shot the scene on the bridge later where he hurts his hand.

  • Received such bad reviews that no Danish cinemas bought the movie.

  • House of the Dead is the last film that uses the turn-table technique for 360° shots. It became clear the danger of actors getting killed or seriously injured by the fast-moving camera is too high.
