Despite passing away six years ago, Dennis Hopper will soon be seen on the big screen one more time. Monterey Media has acquired distribution rights to Linda Yellen’s “The Last Film Festival,” which stars Hopper alongside Jacqueline Bisset, CHris Kattan, JoBeth Williams and Leelee Sobieski.

Chicago – Being a child of the ’80s, I can vividly remember when David Lynch’s “Blue Velvet” took the world by storm. I was too young to see it in theaters but I would be an early teen when the decade ended and the film made a stunning number of lists of the best films of the previous ten years. I could finally see what the fuss was all about on VHS. I would never be the same. There are a few movies I can point to and say, “That shaped the way I look at film.” “Blue Velvet,” recently released on Blu-ray to celebrate its 25th anniversary and complete with 50 minutes of never-before-seen deleted scenes, is one of those movies.

Undertones: Volume 5 Removing the veneer of squeaky-clean suburban American life to reveal its seamy underbelly, David Lynch’s 1986 film, Blue Velvet, is a modern masterpiece and perhaps the most crystallized example of Lynch’s filmic vision. Concerned with the misadventure of a clean-cut teen called Jeffrey (Kyle MacLachlan) who upon discovering and subsequently investigating a severed ear becomes caught up in a creepy criminal underworld headed by the disturbed Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper), Blue Velvet is also significant for being Lynch’s first collaboration with composer Angelo Badalamenti.
