Sunsoft designed a game that's pretty fun. Unlike games such as Road Runner's Death Valley Ralley and Duck Dodgers, this's much easier and actually fun to play. It may not be perfect but it's enjoyable with its level design, items you can collect and various Looney Tunes cameos you'll often see.

As the name suggest, the plot of the Game Center's around bugs traveling through different levels created by a spiteful animator(later revealed to be Daffy Duck) that bugs to confront. Along the way he deals with his typical foes such as Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, the martians. Not one to give up easily, bugs has more than a few tricks up his sleeves.

Gameplay wise, it's pretty straight-forward. The d-pad moves bugs in any direction, the "b" button makes him jump and the "a" button makes him kick. Bugs can also high jump, spin attack that drains his health, or use an item he collected in the course of the level. Pressing up and down on the d-pad can make bugs thrown an item higher or lower if the situation calls for it.

Bugs can also jump on enemies too. While having so many foes to kill you is tough, bugs can replenish his health but carrots he finds as well as completing a level. The levels vary from getting from point "a" to point "b", to making your way down a factory or mars. Some of them just require you to defeat a boss in order to progress. To varying degrees of difficulty.

Depending on how well you do, you'll get a rating at the end of each level ranging from "Superrabbit" to "Southern Fried Rabbit". Doing well will earn you an extra life so it's best to get through seamlessly as possible in each stage. Luckily, it's easy to avoid dying in this game. Be sure to look before you leap.

Now that the pros are out of the way, what are the cons? First off, you can't save. You have to beat this in one setting. While it's not long, you should still have the option to save should something arise and you have to leave for god knows how long. Sunsoft has a habit of not implementing that in their games.

The second issue is the difficulty. While it's mostly easy, the hit detection and controls are a bit delayed. In the second level, you have the option to hop over sandbags to get an extra life. While it's easy, sometimes the reaction is delayed and you can fall in a pit afterwards. Some of the boss battles are tough. Going back to the second level, you face off against Nasty Canasta at the end. In order to win, you have to stand behind him in order to avoid his bullets.

The problem is even if you do that, the bullets can still hurt you. I've only managed to beat him once without losing a life. The more you him the more bullets he fires and after a while it becomes difficult to avoid them all. Especially when some of them fly diagonally. Another boss level has you fight Taz. Trying to trick Taz into hitting the trees without hurting yourself is so difficult. You have to time it right or else he'll hit you.

Even with those problems, it doesn't make the game impossible just annoying at times. Bugs Bunny: Rabbit Rampage is a great, underrated side-scroller that I highly recommend whether you're a looney tunes fan or not. Hop on in for some wacky fun.
