Rutger Hauer (Hobo with a Shotgun, Blade Runner) is set to join the cast of HBO's True Blood for its upcoming sixth season. TV Line reports that, "Hauer will play Macklyn, a mysterious and sinister figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason."
This is not the first blood sucking experience that Hauer has had. The Dutch actor starred in Salem's Lot, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, played Dracula in Dracula III: Legacy and Van Helsing in Dario Argento's upcoming Dracula 3D.
HBO premieres the sixth season on June of 2013. Having seen the last season, I know who Hauer will be playing and it should be pretty cool. Do you still watch True Blood?

We have an edgy new clip from the upcoming Nicolas Cage actioner, Drive Angry 3D, where he plays an escapee from Hell determined to find the cult that killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby.
He teams with a waitress that just happens to own a ’69 Charger and is looking for her own redemption. They have three days to avenge the daughter and save the baby before Cage’s character has to go back to Hell. The plot sounds like grindhouse fun but the addition of the 3D detracts from a gritty fun feel that the film could have had. Along with Cage the film also stars Amber Heard, Billy Burke, and William Fichner.
Drive Angry comes to us courtesy of director Patrick Lussier, the man responsible for White Noise 2: The Light and Dracula III: Legacy, so not only do we have to be concerned about Nicolas Cage's...

Syfy's gearing up for its annual "31 Days of Halloween" by letting the wolf out of the bag, so to speak, with a clip from the October 9th premiere of Monster Wolf. As you may have deduced from just looking at the title, yes, it is indeed about a monster wolf.
A creature of ancient legend manifests, bound to protect the ecological balance of the land and killing anyone that threatens it. This elusive guardian is initially both feared and celebrated by the locals, but when a deadly curse affects them all, they must unite and recapture the monster wolf’s spirit or face their ultimate doom.
The creature is a monster wolf that kills to protect the planet from the scourge of filthy humans that desecrate and pollute it? If only that crazy anti-mankind environmentalist that took the Discovery Channel hostage a week ago could have lived to see this Syfy original!

Ever since the third installment in the rebooted horror franchise centering around the silent murderer Michael Myers (that of course being Halloween) was announced [1], there have been rumors [2] about who would direct the movie seeing as Rob Zombie wouldn't return for a third round. So who will fill the hairy shock rockers shoes? Another hack, of course! Zombie's replacement will be frequent Wes Craven editor and My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier, who aside from directing that horrible remake also has directed the equally bad Dracula 2000 plus its two DVD sequels, Dracula II: Ascension and Dracula III: Legacy. So with Lussier behind the wheel on this accident waiting to happen, what little faith I had in this project after hearing that Zombie was not going to go near it, has now vanished. But heck, who am I kidding, come next summer I'll probably end up watching this anyways hoping for a good laugh,...

A fun little "what if" hit the web courtesy of the good folks at Moviehole.net who chatted with director Patrick Lussier about a planned fourth Dracula film that never came to be. Before directing My Bloody Valentine 3D, Lussier got behind the camera for Dimension Films' Dracula 2000, Dracula II: Ascension and Dracula III: Legacy. Read on for the short blurb. "Joel Soisson and I originally wanted to continue the adventures of Uffizi... and before that, had even discussed a theatrical sequel to D2K but none of those came to pass, I'm afraid," he tells Moviehole.net. But if you want to know what happened next... The Cardinal picks up Luke, forces him back into Transylvania to find Uffizi... only they find Julia, now mistress of the vampire horde. Uffizi's bugged out on his own quest. Mayhem, of course, would've ensued.

Seven or eight of you probably fell in love with Zach Galifiniakis during his break out role in the hilarious, over-the-top, drunken snowboarding comedy Out Cold which may or may not have been the last time Jason London was in a movie. Unless you count Dracula III: Legacy. Which I don't. Or if you mistake him for Jeremy London who really hasn't worked since then. Which I do. The rest of you fell in love with him through his stand up work for The Comedians of Comedy or his solo DVD Live at the Purple Onion. I make no secret of my love of Galifiniakis's comedy. He's a modern-day Andy Kaufman, creating uncomfortable scenarios and making us laugh at things that we probably never thought we'd respond to. A comedian who is not afraid to mix high brow with fart jokes or to dress up like Annie, flaunting his polkadot dress all over the stage. I...

The Final Chapter (read Part 2 here)! We have Howard the Duck, Freejack and Shyamalan flicks on the list; these are never good signs. Nonetheless we are bringing it all to you in full-color and in 3-D. (Ed. Note: Due to the economy, 3-D has been dropped and will be replaced by Smell-o-vision — check for your scratch and sniff cards in about 4-6 weeks.) Best Sound went to rage-zombie veterans Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke, leaving Mark Weingarten who worked on Rejuvenatrix in the dust. The Sound Editing section contains one too many references to Ron Silver, and at least two references to a Roger Corman film.
The visual effects category pulled on our heartstrings this year due to the loss of Stan Winston, who was noted en memoriam along with other heroes, Vampira, Leonard Rosenman and Charles H. Schneer...

Hauer gathers forces of evil for 'Smallville'
Teen Superman's powers will be put to the test by a serious dark force. Rutger Hauer, known for the gallery of formidable villains he has played on the big screen, has been tapped to do a two-episode arc on the WB Network's drama Smallville. He will play an underworld kingpin on the show from Tollin/Robbins Prods. and Warner Bros. Television. Hauer, who has turned in memorable performances in such movies as Blade Runner and The Hitcher, was most recently seen in George Clooney's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. He also did a guest appearance on the ABC spy drama Alias this past season. Hauer recently wrapped Dracula Legacy for Dimension Films, in which he plays the title role, and TNT's adaptation of Stephen King's novel Salem's Lot. The actor, who won a Golden Globe for his role in the 1987 CBS telefilm Escape From Sobibor, is repped by Innovative Artists and Hyler Management.
