true story or bath-house urban legend?
jvframe8 December 2006
This short film was made on location at Brisbane, Australia's "Wet (gay men's) Spa and Sauna". It is well paced and very nicely directed, edited and acted - with a cast of notable and talented local thespians. Filmed in subdued tones - reflecting the inherent low-lit ambiance of a venue which is meant to enable the illusion (and perhaps security) of anonymity in casual sexual encounters, we discover that this illusion presents a tenuous level of moral security.

This exact scenario is lampooned in the 2006 USA comedy "Another Gay Movie" - and while "Family Outing" was almost certainly made with "tongue in cheek", it was very nearly a lot more than that.

The first experience of a boy in sauna. The music, like the cinematography are the fair tools for reflect the tension, emotions and fear of young visitor in an unknown location , seductive and menacing in same measure.

But the curiosity makes the things little spectacular to kinky.

The final revelation is nice way for define the apparences game in a family.

In short, a very interesting film, inspired by real case, about curiosity of youth and the steps defining first experience in not ordinary place and the secrets supporting the respectability of family head , in a profound embarassing context. Sure, the end seems little unrealistic to forced one. But exactly this aspect can make it realistic.
