I do enjoy Burbank Animation Studios' output, and while Hansel and Gretel and Goldilocks and the Three Bears were what introduced me to the studio, it was always The Count of Monte-Cristo that struck me as one of their best. Based on the timeless story it is always thrilling and exciting, with one of the most fluid animation of any of their output, witty dialogue and suitably rousing music. The characters are not as complex or quite as intriguing as in the book, then again seeing as the animation is 50 minutes and would need to condense that is understandable as the characters still have their likability. The voice acting is good enough, better than the voice work for Puss in Boots anyway(which was a mixed bag overall).
All in all, one of the studio's best re-visiting Burbank's output on VHS. 9/10 Bethany Cox
