We All Love Alice
Neuro9921 March 2004
Alla älskar Alice was a true surprise. I was a little bit eager to see this movie for a while mostly because I like those social relations movies with problems in the family. The last few years I have changed my taste in movies a little bit. Earlier I mostly liked those big action movies with little or no plot, but now I really appreciate movies about real life more and more. A few examples are "Life as a House", "Parenthood", "For Richer, for Poorer" and "Regarding Henry".

This is truly the best Swedish movie of the new Millennium so far beating "Familjehemligheter". Maybe it is because I knew all the feelings Alice had. She loved her father but was angry with him for him leaving the family. But still she understood that mom and dad couldn't live together. It was impossible. I liked the way Alice found out that Anna was a kind and warm person too. And that bad things always brings some good with them. This is a beautiful movie. All the filming locations in Norway and Johans new home at the lake are beautiful places. I don't know but I think I wish that I could have a daughter like Alice in the future when it is time for me to raise a family. A such a wonderful and carrying daughter would truly melt my heart.

My rating: 7/10

Ok, but not very exiting

Warning: Spoilers
Alla Älskar Alice is a drama light about a divorce, spiced with some humor. However, I found it a bit .. cliché-loaded?

*SPOILERS*

It's about teenage Alice, whos father falls in love with a woman that is not his wife - ouch! He and his wife divorce, and Alice starts out hating her new pseudo mum, for ruining her family. And Alice's mum doesnt really love her either. Pseudo-mum's son and Alice find a common goal, namely to break up the relationship and go back to what everything used to be. However, Alice's mum saves pseudo-mum's son from drowning, and there is slight reconciliation between the mums. Movie ends with big smile from otherwise grumpy Alice :-)

I gave it 7/10 but that's just because I am so kind!

A moving, yet ironic comment on a social malaise
epetrov10 February 2003
The effect of divorce on children is such a well-tilled field that one approaches Richard Holbert's film with some trepidation. The acoustic guitar soundtrack at the opening, and the Raggedy Ann - faced protagonist seem to warn of yet another sentimental cinema cliche; but Everyone Loves Alice neatly sidesteps the predictable and develops into a moving, yet ironic comment on a social malaise. Told entirely from the twelve-year old's perspective, we see Alice's world as one inhabited by loving, self-absorbed, unreliable adults. No one is all good or all bad. In fact, the entire society seems riddled with instability produced by the epidemic of failed marriages. Even the hopefulness of Alice's budding adolescent romance is undercut when juxtaposed with her parent's chaotic emotional warfare. Director Holbert maintains tight control of his material. The competent editing and camera work, coupled with the remarkably strong performances, make viewing Everyone Loves Alice a fresh, evocative experience

I really like this movie

It's a good story about simple things. Alice is Johan and Lotta's teenage daughter, she is angry with his father for leave the house and hates Anna (Johan's lover) but in the process she understand that not all in life is black or white and learns to accept other ways of life.

The Characters are simple and that's why you can understand what are they feeling, specially Alice is a great character. It's true, this movie has no action scenes and no efx but the story doesn't need them because the story is so good.

The beauty of this movie is that it involves the audience until you can feel the way the characters feel and understand them. (9/10)

Surprising good

Warning: Spoilers
I started this movie having no expectations and I really loved it. It's simple but so interesting at the same time.it doesn't have any huge action scenes or anything like that but I wasn't bored at all. I really wanted to see more about the characters. While watching the movie you can sympathise with all the main characters. Especially the character of Anna.

Note. I just didn't like how the couple was so noisy while making love, because they know that their kids were sleeping in the living room.

Also, in the beginning of the movie Alice could see her parents trying to have sex like it was something normal for a young teen to see.
