And then there were three. Monday’s edition of Jeopardy! Masters was the second (and final) round of the semifinals, whittling the remaining quartet of Masters down to the three who’ll compete for the big money on Wednesday’s Season 2 finale episode. Here’s a look at how it all shook out. Game Three This round saw Victoria Groce play her last game, going up against James Holzhauer and Amy Schneider. And, in what seems to be just her luck, she found the first round’s Daily Double right away, betting the $1,000 she could without any money in the bank yet. In the category “Short Kingdoms,” the clue was: “In 1814, this historic German state was made into a kingdom for a little while, largely through the influence of England.” While Groce guessed it was Prussia, host Ken Jennings kindly informed her it was actually Hanover, which meant in a surprising turn,...

Jeopardy! fan-favorites Sam Buttrey and Andrew He might not be participating in the current Masters tournament, but that hasn’t stopped them from getting in on the fun. Jeopardy!‘s official Instagram page shared a video on Sunday (May 19) promoting an upcoming Masters watch party. Ken Jennings was a Jeopardy! champion before he started hosting the show. This might explain why he is getting frustrated lately with some of the contestant’s guesses on the show. This was evident in a recent episode where one contestant went home with $0 and another lost in Final Jeopardy! by dropping below $1,000.
However, there was another episode where multiple triple stumpers caused him to show great disappointment.
Jeopardy! Contestants Struggling More Often Lately
Ken Jennings isn’t the only person to watch in shock as more contestants don’t know the answer to the board’s clues lately. Many viewers watch from home and don’t understand how the contestants are missing what is said to be “easy” clues.
Jeopardy! posted some triple stumpers to its Instagram page. This is a case where none of the contestants know the answer. What is amazing is that some of these are rather easy clues,...

On a recent episode of Jeopardy!, Grant DeYoung was looking for his third straight win. However, his two challengers left a little to be desired. In the final round, only one was left and his answer caused Ken Jennings to get short with him as DeYoung won again.
Here is the final Jeopardy! question and why Jennings was frustrated by this moment in the show.
Ken Jennings Short After Bad Jeopardy! Answers
By the time the Final Jeopardy! rolled around, only two competitors remained. The third, Rachel Shelton, had $0 heading into the finals, so she had to leave the game at that point. This means that Grant DeYoung was trying to win his third game in a row against Nick Coombs.
Jennings had already expressed disappointment when Rachel Shelton bet it all on the Daily Double. She went all-in with $7,000 and then missed the question. Ken seemed sad to see her fall,...

After defeating three-day Jeopardy! champion Will Stewart on Wednesday (May 15), grocery clerk Grant DeYoung returned to the Alex Trebek Stage on Thursday (May 16) and continued his winning ways with a dramatic comeback. DeYoung faced off against Elizabeth Brzozowski, a social studies teacher from Fishkill, New York, and Chen Yan, a surgeon from Happy Valley, Oregon. While his opponents put up a solid effort, DeYoung delivered an unbeatable performance. Even after crashing to $0 in the first round after a failed Daily Double, DeYoung remained unfazed and simply worked his way back up. By the end of the Jeopardy round, he’d answered 13 clues correctly for a total of $3,000, putting him only $600 behind Brzozowski. The Prescott, Arizona native stepped on the gas in Double Jeopardy, finding and nailing both Daily Doubles for a combined $11,000. While Chen put up a strong fight, DeYoung was unstoppable, amassing a runaway total of $20,800 heading into Final Jeopardy.

Although some fans are happy to see Jeopardy! diversifying and broadening their reach, others think the new pop culture spinoff is blasphemy. Undoubtedly, it is a turn from the traditional sixty-year-old game show, but it has plenty of nods to the original. Furthermore, it promises upbeat topics from movies, sports, TV shows, music, and glamorous Hollywood references. Political organizer Will Stewart entered Wednesday’s (May 15) Jeopardy! with a three-day total of $70,501 and plenty of confidence to continue his winning streak. However, Stewart ended up losing the episode in a closely fought battle with grocery clerk Grant DeYoung, and some fans think host Ken Jennings is to blame for the loss. Stewart picked up right where he left off in the opening round, answering 12 correct clues, including the first Daily Double, to give him the lead with $7,600. Meanwhile, DeYoung trailed with $3,400, and fellow contestant Kathy Olson stood at $1,800. The game heated up in Double Jeopardy! after DeYoung found both Daily Doubles, though he chose to split them rather than go all in. This made things super tight between Stewart and DeYoung as they raced to answer the final clues. But this is where the controversy happened. DeYoung selected the second-to-last clue, which came under the “In The Period Film” category.

The “Jeopardy!” brand is expanding again.
Prime Video announced earlier this week that it has ordered “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” from Sony Pictures Television. Coming into the sixth night of Jeopardy! Masters Season 2, there were a couple of foregone conclusions: Victoria Groce (with 13 match points) and Yogesh Raut (with 10) were already qualified to play in the semifinals; unless James Holzhauer (who had 6) got shut out again, he was likely to advance as well; it was bound to be a close contest between Amy Schneider and Mattea Roach (also 5) for that fourth spot; and Matt Amodio (with just 1 single match point) had zero chance of playing past Wednesday night’s games. So how did the sextet of champions fare in the final night of Masters games? Here’s a look at the highlights. Game Eleven Raut, Holzhauer, and Amodio were matched up for their final “regular” game of this season, but, as mentioned above, the latter was necessarily going to come in sixth (still taking home a healthy $50k prize for his troubles), and Holzhauer...

Returning champ Will Stewart played a game of high-risk, high-reward in Jeopardy‘s May 14 episode. Fans are praising by his risky bet on a Daily Double, with some saying that it would have been a thrilling bet whether he answered the prompt correctly or not. It’s a good thing he did, because that bet cleared the path for Stewart’s runaway victory. Stewart is a a political organizer originally from Nashville, Tennessee. Playing against him in the episode was Omar Ahmed, an analytics manager from Old Hickory, Tennessee; and Ashley Atkin, a stay-at-home mom & part-time graduate student from Jerome, Idaho. A runaway game in Jeopardy! is when one player’s score is so high, it’s more than double the score of their competitors. It would take a substantial loss in Final Jeopardy for the player in first place to lose in this scenario, but it is does happen semi-regularly on the game show.

Fortunately for them, there will be a new variation of the hit game show solely focused on this genre.
Jeopardy! Lands ‘Pop Culture’ Streaming Spinoff

We’ll spare you the Thin Lizzy jokes — you likely already know The Boys are back in town as of June 13 for a fourth season of superpowered satire. But it looks like they’re going to be sticking around past the summer, as Amazon has just announced a Season 5 renewal for Eric Kripke’s adaptation of the eponymous comic-book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
The news comes as part of Prime Video’s (and Amazon’s) first-ever upfront presentation, which kicked off with the news of Noir, a live-action Spider-Man series starring Nicolas Cage, and the streaming platform’s very own Jeopardy! show, Pop Culture Jeopardy!, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

This is the first “Jeopardy!” spin-off series to be created for a major streaming service.
“What is Prime Video’s upcoming game show ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’?”
That is correct! And notice we said “major streaming service,” since “Sports Jeopardy!” ran on Crackle (back when that ad-supported on-demand platform was owned by Sony) from 2014 to 2016.
But hey, you get the points — and so does Prime Video, which was set to announce “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” on Tuesday during Amazon’s inaugural upfront presentation in New York. The series, which comes from Sony Pictures Television (and its game show division), reps the latest extension of the “Jeopardy!” franchise.
Set up like the “Jeopardy!” gameplay, the show’s “answer-and-question” format will focus on music, film, TV, stage, sports and more. Episodes will premiere on Prime Video across the globe.

A Jeopardy! spinoff is heading to streaming.
Amazon’s Prime Video has ordered Pop Culture Jeopardy!, a spinoff of the long-running gameshow.
The series, which comes from Sony Pictures Television’s Game Show Division, marks the first time that a Jeopardy! series has been created for a streaming service.
The show will launch in more than 240 countries and territories. It’s a new twist on the classic gameshow and will focus on categories from alternative rock to The Avengers, from Broadway to Mma and Gen Z to Zendaya.
Contestants, playing in teams of three, will compete in a tournament-style event for the grand prize and ultimate bragging rights.

May 14 is a day of firsts: the first upfront presentation for Amazon, which has just ordered the first Jeopardy! show to be created exclusively for streaming.
Pop Culture Jeopardy! will “[combine] the academic rigor of Jeopardy! with the excitement and unpredictability of pop culture,” according to the press release. Instead of offering up one or two categories a round to give those not-so-well-versed in physics and plant species a fighting chance, this new Jeopardy! series — which marks the first time that Sony Pictures Television Game Show Division will expand the Jeopardy! franchise into streaming — will require contestants to know their Avengers from their Boys, their Mamma Mia! films from their original West End productions, and their Zendayas from… well, there’s no one quite like Zendaya, so, trick question!

After conquering broadcast syndication and establishing a solid foothold in network primetime TV, Jeopardy! is moving into the streaming realm.
Amazon’s Prime Video has ordered a version of the beloved game show called Pop Culture Jeopardy!, which will be the first iteration of the franchise to debut on a streaming service. Sony Pictures Television, which is behind all versions of Jeopardy!, is producing.
Pop Culture Jeopardy! will differ somewhat from the classic game in that three-person teams will compete against one another rather than individual players. The show will keep the classic answer-and-question format, however, and its categories will cover music, movies, sports and all elements of popular culture. Michael Davies will serve as executive producer, as he does for the syndicated show and ABC’s Celebrity Jeopardy! and Jeopardy! Masters.

Game Nine Groce added to her tournament lead in the first game of the evening as she faced off against Jeopardy! super-champ Matt Amodio and reigning Masters champion James Holzhauer. By virtually any metric, Matt Amodio is one of the most successful quiz show contestants of all time.
The Medina, Ohio native, who now works as a quantitative researcher in New York, burst onto the trivia scene in 2021 with a commanding performance on American game show institution Jeopardy! Amodio would go on to dot his name all over the hallowed Jeopardy! record books, winning 38 consecutive games (third most all time), taking in $1,518,601 in prize-winnings (also third most all time), and finishing third in the inaugural Jeopardy! Masters tournament in 2023.
Now Amodio has returned for the second installment of Jeopardy! Masters alongside familiar competitors James Holzhauer, Amy Schneider, and Mattea Roach; and fresh faces Victoria Groce and Yogesh Raut. This time around, however, the ultra-champ hasn’t done too well. Jeopardy! fans nearly lost their minds over a recent Final Jeopardy! clue that almost had the entire board stumped. What was considered an easy clue almost went unanswered. It was a throwback to the 1980s and viewers couldn’t believe that it seemed so difficult for the contestants. Continue reading to find out what the clue was and why fans were so baffled.
’80s Fad Clue Stumps Jeopardy! Contestants
Returning Jeopardy! champ Allison Gross was in the lead with $19,600. She was up against Isabella Dawis and Jennifer Trofa, who had each accrued $4,200 and $200, respectively.
The Final Jeopardy! category dealt with fads from the 1980s. Ken Jennings read the clue, “A November 29, 1983 N.Y. Times article about these used ‘near-riot’, ‘adoptable’, ‘waiting for 8 hours’ & ‘my life (is) in danger.”

Seth Meyers has been an annual tradition at NBCUniversal’s Upfronts. Much like Jimmy Kimmel at the Disney event, Meyers loves to roast the television industry and his own employer.
This year was no different, taking shots at NBC, Peacock, Dick Wolf, Bravo star Tom Sandoval, and former ad chief Linda Yaccarino in a five-minute bit.
Check out the jokes below:
“Welcome to the NBCU Upfront. If you’re looking for the Fox News upfront, that’s happening outside a lower Manhattan courtroom.”
“What a joy to be back in Radio City; I asked an NBC executive ‘Why do you hole up here every year?’ and they said ‘I like looking at the marquee and thinking, sure, it’s a tricky time for TV, but it could be worse, we could be in radio’.”

At the NBCUniversal upfronts, they saved the best for almost last: “Late Night With Seth Meyers” host Seth Meyers hit the Radio City Music Hall stage to throw out a few quips before introducing NBCUniversal ad sales chief Mark Marshall.
Meyers came out swinging: “Hello and welcome to the NBC upfronts. If you’re looking for the Fox News upfronts, that’s happening outside a lower Manhattan courtroom,” he said to chuckles.
He then took aim at the broadcast industry: “What a joy to be back in Radio City Music Hall. I asked an NBC executive why do you hold upfronts here every year and they said, ‘I like looking at the marquee and thinking, “Sure. It’s a tricky time for TV but it couldn’t be worse. The uncertain fate of Paramount Global was ripe for comment: “Also, not to brag — a very good day for me.

James Holzhauer came into the second season of Jeopardy! Masters as the “Final Boss of Jeopardy,” but by the third episode, the nickname had disappeared. Now, shocked fans are wondering if this is because of his less-than-stellar performance in the tournament so far. A viewer brought up the topic on the Jeopardy! For comparison, in Season 1, the intros were still included all the way up until the semi-finals. “I can’t help but wonder if this has to do with with James being the self-described “Final Boss” but (so far) turning in a less-than-dominant performance,” the Reddit user wrote. “That line doesn’t seem so funny under these circumstances and could even be interpreted as a little embarrassing.” Holzhauer has used nicknames for his “occupation” intro before, including last year, when he went by the...
