Great DVD
NosTron250015 September 2006
I'm not as big of a wrestling fan now as I was when I was younger. Even then, I was never a huge Bret Hart fan. But this is one of my favorite DVD's to watch. The story was great, it tells everything from growing up in the Hart household right up to his stroke. I can't wait for his autobiography to come out.

When I saw the picture of Vince McMahon shaking hands with Bret Hart, immediately, I thought "Hell froze over." It was something I never expected to see in my life. Bret Hart was never my favorite wrestler growing up, I was into wrestlers such as the Undertaker and the Rock. But I must say, I am a Bret Hart fan now, as well as a Kurt Angle fan. I have so much respect for the technical wrestlers.

What made Bret so great was that he didn't need a gimmick. He was OK with being himself, and not a cowboy (Watch the DVD for more on that). It's sad because wrestling isn't what it use to be. When I watched it when I was younger, back in the late 90's, it was still cool. But now, there aren't any original ideas. You know that when they bring back D-X, you got trouble. And why is Ric Flair still wrestling? It seems that wrestling is on the decline. It's hard for me to watch wrestling, because it's the same thing week after week. It needs something different. Maybe Bret as commissioner? I'll say this though, if Bret ever does come back, for good, I will watch. When his autobiography comes out, I'll buy it.

Great Treatment for Greatest of All Time
SevenCostanza716 November 2005
Bret The Hit-man Hart is the greatest WWF (WWE) champion of all time and it is nice to see him get the treatment he deserves on this DVD. For those of us who idolized Bret throughout his career and struggled through the latter difficulties, this is a wonderful celebration of a truly legendary wrestler.

The DVD focuses greatly upon Bret's earlier experience before the WWF and with the Hart Foundation. It is a pleasure to watch him develop in these early matches and see their influence on his prime years, which are well documented here as well.

Some of the highlights of this DVD include Bret and Dynamite Kid going at it in Stampede Wrestling, Bret v. Ricky Steamboat, Bret v. Mr. Perfect for the IC title, Bret v. the British Bulldog at Wembley Stadium, and Bret v. Stone Cold at Wrestlemania 13.

As is expected, not everything is here including the Iron Man Match with Shawn Michaels from Wrestlemania 12, the classic cage match with Owen, and Bret's first title win against Flair. Such absences will disappoint some. However, the matches chosen will surely satisfy even the most critical Hit-man fan.

The greatest highlight of the DVD is the comments Hart makes throughout. It is a pleasure to hear his opinions on matches and stories from his life in wrestling, especially those about Owen.

Throughout his career, the Hit-man character excelled with pristine in-ring technique and a quiet, humble confidence that reached the everyman in all of us. He didn't have to yell or dance, he was simply that cool.

This DVD is a true representation of the heroism we used to be fortunate enough to enjoy on a weekly basis. Thus, it is a must for anyone who wants to see wrestling at the best it is, was, or ever will be.

Truly The Best There Is, The Best There Was, and The Best There Ever Will Be
bramblett2k58 December 2005
I personally found The Bret Hart Story the best piece of work ever produced by World Wrestling Entertainment. The documentary shows Hart from his early days of learning about professional wrestling his father's " Dungeon " to his reigns a WWF World Heavyweight Champion to the dramatic downfall at Survivor Series 1997. Hart also tells the emotional story of his brother Owen's tragic death. The extras on the DVD really help make the documentary with some of The Hit-man's greatest matches with Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart, and Mr. Perfect along with a tribute match to his brother on WCW Monday Nitro. The documentary is truly exciting, emotional, and entertaining.

The Best DVD ever produced by the WWE
ralphhitman3 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great DVD that any wrestling fan would enjoy. It goes through Bret's life from his time in Stampede wrestling to the WWF, Survivor Series 1997, WCW, Death of his brother and his career ending injury. What's great about this DVD is that we don't get any jealous/bitter comments from the usual pricks like HBK, Jerry Lawler, HHH, Ric Flair and Hogan. It seems nowadays that the wrestlers I just mentioned above take it upon themselves to criticize other wrestlers just because they're jealous or because it makes them feel better.

I advise any wrestling fan to purchase this DVD cause it's worth every single penny.

Fascinating tribute to a wrestling genius
bh_tafe310 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Bret Hart is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. There are no ifs, buts or maybes. Some may go with Flair, or Lou Thesz, or Shawn Micheals, but I am unapologetically as biased as they come, and go with Hart all the way.

Growing up in a wrestling family in Canada, the son of wrestling promoter Stu Hart, Hart saw wrestling as an art form, and along with contemporaries Curt Hennig and Shawn Micheals took it to a level rarely seen in North America.

THe documentary section is almost all Hart talking about his childhood and wrestling experiences. He pays tribute to his long time tag partner Jim Neidhart and Curt Hennig for the part they played in his career advancement.

He talks candidly about becoming WWE Champion and feeling that he was the only man who should have the title. He talks about his legendary feuds with his brother Owen and Steve Austin, but steers clear of talking about Shawn Micheals where possible. He does talk about Survivor Series 1997, but not in depth, simply saying he felt he was in the right and still does. It's a shame that incident will tarnish Hart and Micheals' legacy to such a degree, but that's what happens when you allow egos and professional jealousy to control your actions.

He talks about his failed run in WCW and the death of his brother and then finally a life outside of wrestling.

Hart comes across as being humble in some parts, arrogant and self absorbed in others. As such, this is the most interesting biography DVD the WWE have produced. But this is a great look at Hart the wrestler and Hart, the man.

Bret gives a tribute to his dead brother Dean and also some of the wrestling colleagues who have passed away.

There are two matches included on the first disc with the hart Foundation taking on the British Bulldogs in 1985 and then the Killer Bees in 1986.

There are two more Hart Foundation matches on disc two as they take Shawn Micheals and Marty Janetty as the Rockers in 1990 and then the Nasty Boys at Wrestlemania VII. The disc also includes Hart matches with Ricky Steamboat from 1986, a good match happily free of commentary with Ted DiBIase from 1989, and a fun match with Spanish Commentary against Bam Bam Bigelow from 1993.

It also includes four of the bets matches in WWE History. Bret Hart' superb Intercontinental Title victory over Mr Perfect at Summerslam 1991 and a later match with Perfect at the 1993 King of the Ring which is almost as good. The incredible Main Event from Slummerslam 1992 where Hart lost the IC Title to his brother in law the British Bulldog. And lastly his match with Owen Hart from Wrestlemania X which is widely considered the best technical wrestling match in WWE history and one of my favourite matches ever.

Disc Three picks up right where Disc Two left off with another good match between Bret and Owen, followed by a fun match with Hakushi from 1995.

Bret Hart's WWE title win over Deisel in 1995 is a great match , and the next match, where Hart defeats the British Bulldog to retain that title is even better.

Hart's match against the Undertaker from London in 1997 is a classic and his match with Chris Benoit from Nitro in 1999, Hart's tribute to his late brother Owen is another exceptional match.

But everything else on the disc is trumped by Hart's sensational victory over Austin in submission match at Wrestlemania 13. Hart turns heel in the actual match, turning his back on the fans in memorable fashion. This match is a staggering achievement in storytelling and in my opinion the best match ever to happen in the WWE.

So, Bret Hart is the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be, and he knows it. After watching this DVD and some of the great matches on it, you'll know it too. Brilliant.

Simply The Best
cabby3164 January 2006
The moment I saw this I was totally amazed and I was brought back in time. Seeing the old footage of Stampede days was awesome. I remember watching those and seeing then again brought back some good times. That's probably the best video that WWE has put out. The way that the whole thing was put together was nice and like other stars who do there videos, this one just didn't seem to revolve around Bret, but the Hart family and the wrestling industry as a whole. I didn't know what to expect when I watched it but I'm glad I bought it. This is a must have for any wrestling fan who has seen, heard about or anything regarding Bret Hart. This is the best.

A good tribute to wrestling's best.
vadnj011 January 2007
This three disc set is a Bret Hart fan's dream. It captures the best matches of Bret's career and shows Bret's meteoric rise to the top. Bret starts out with being one-half of the Hart Foundation(along with Jim Neidhart) and eventually becomes a single competition wrestler. The discs contains some great interviews and a tribute to fallen comrades where Bret shows how emotional he can get. The matches included(about 16) are all complete and this set would be worth your time and money to purchase. All of his interviews show his honesty and integrity. This DVD set will show anyone(fan or not) why Bret Hart truly is the best there is, the best there was, and the best that there ever will be.

He is The Best There IS, WAS, and EVER WILL BE
ac68626 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
As with all things this man has done, this is one of the Best documentaries and by far the Best Wrestling documentary ever made.

This video shows his beginning, his claim to his 30 combined titles in 3 major wrestling industries, his family tragedies, and the destruction of his career by Vince Mcmahon.

The documentary takes you through Bret "The Hit-man" Hart's unforgettable memories throughout his life and career.

The video goes over his many unforgettable matches in his younger days in his dad's wrestling industry, his overlooking in the early years in the WWF, until he set the new standards of wrestling with matches between The British Bulldog, Mr. Perfect(Curt Henning), and The Undertaker, and concludes with his continuing feuds with Shawn Michaels and Vince Mcmahon down the stretch of his career with the (WWF at the time)WWE now. Which lead to his leaping to the WCW where his career eventually ended.
