Duffy Moon!
evatorres6727 October 2009
SO I AM NOT CRAZY AFTER ALL!! I like most of you always remembered the phrase "You can do it Duffy Moon". I am so excited! I am 42 years old and STILL remember this special! LOVE IT! Everyone would totally look at me like I was insane. Now I have proof! I just made sure to copy all the information and put it on my web page and email my brother who seems to be the only one who remembered the phrase with me. It seems like so long ago but I remember watching the special as if it were just yesterday. I remember the movie making me feel good. I wish there were movies this good for my children. I will try to find this on video and make sure my kids watch it.

Duffy Moon

I was so excited to find Duffy Moon! I have said "you can do it Duffy Moon:" to many people and everyone always looks at me like I am goofy. I knew it was something I saw when I was a kid and lived by that saying each day. I grew up thinking there was nothing I couldn't do! Now I can prove that Duffy Moon existed! Thank you!! and keep believing : )

I have an eleven year old daughter with ADHD and I have tried to install that she can do and be anything that she wants with a little effort! Instead of Duffy Moon, I say You can do it Kerry Jo! I use the same tone as I remember it. It was so uplifting as a kid, I only hope my child thinks fondly of it as she becomes an adult.

The story of the boy who could
cathy6417 September 2001
This is the story of a boy named Duffy Moon (Ike Eisenmann) who was small for his age and picked on by his class mates. So he orders a book to help him control the environment around him. with the help of his best friend Peter (Lance Kerwin) he starts an odd jobs company. His friend Peter has misgivings about Duffy's new venture but helps just the same and shows Duffy that the ability to do didn't come from a book but from inside himself. A good story to watch with the kids

Duffy Moon

OMG!!! I was so excited to see this movie really exist. I was starting to think that I dreamed it all. I thought remembered seeing it in grade school during the winter months during assembly with the entire school. I never forgot Mr. Duffy Moon. "You can do it Duffy Moon, you can do it!" -- the ever famous catch phrase that I never got out of my head. I often used this phrase as a tool to help me through elementary school. How fun and exciting to finally find it!! Everyone I've ever mentioned it to just gave me blank stares like I was making it all up. I'd started to believe them (that I made it up or dreamed it), until now. This is awesome. Now that I know the official name of the movie, I am hoping I can find it for purchase somewhere. Super Cool! Sincerely, Product of the 70's

Duffy Mooner's Unite!
kathy-l-parker16 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I always think of this catch-phrase and once I actually met someone who knew/remembered it, too! It's always cool to meet people who know Duffy Moon. I can still hear the song, too.

Duffy, Duffy Moon, can...Duffy, Duffy Moon, CAN!!! LMAO :) :) :) We need after-school specials again. NETFLIX??

OK, 10 lines. I have never written a TV Review before and I am really tired but I CAN DO IT, DUFFY MOON!! Because I am a child of the seventies. Yes, I am! I truly love this show and (spoiler)I remember that Duffy used to blow up his cheeks and turn red when he concentrated. So funny, and yet, adorable at the same time.

You too can have cosmic power
matthewwright-0973814 February 2023
As a child in the 70s, I heard about the TV show and though I had no TV and only learned about the show from second hand chat, I knew that secret powers could be mine. Whenever I faced trial in life: raising kids, gaining two degrees, a successful career in teaching and running my own handyman business I would repeat the phrase: "You can do it Duffy Moon!" I've taught it to my own kids and the powers have mysteriously been passed on. Even now when I'm about to do something I thought was impossible a message will pop up on my phone: "You can do it Duffy Moon!". I take a moment and just repeat the cosmic phrase and before long another challenge has been overcome!

I have a 12 year old son and just this morning trying to give him confidence in something i said that too him and he just turned to me and we laughed our butts off. My husband just looked at me like I am crazy. Now, how do i get a copy of that show so that he can see it????? oops got in trouble for not writing enough. so I cant wait to read more from the fans like me.

Great Special
kathy_kester14 March 2012
I was glad to read reviews of this movie. I remembered it as a kid and remembered the phrase ever since. I am now a teacher and wish that their were after school specials to help kids to cope with today's issues. I couldn't wait to get home to watch when the specials were airing. Character education is something that seems to get cut when budgets are cut. I think that shows like this would be helpful to kids who are going through tough times in their lives. I was a latchkey kid, meaning that my parents worked in a big city while I went to school in a small rural 30 miles away. These specials really helped me when I could have been getting into trouble being all alone.

A great after school special!
roserobb24 July 2004
This program must have made a real impression on me as a child. I still remember the phrase,"you can do it Duffy Moon!" after all these years. I find myself saying it over and over again especially with my kids. Although I can't recall every detail, I do remember that the plot was about confidence. It ran as an after school special that I watched with my Dad. He was staying at home while he was recovering from multiple injuries from his police squad car crash. I felt a bonding moment that had been frozen in time. The program itself was very cute and very seventies. It starred Lance Kerwin but then again, practically every show back then had him in their cast. I think the message of the show could work for today's young viewers and perhaps a remake could be in order!

Exceptional Seventies Story on Child's Self Confidence
richard.fuller14 April 2004
And where else can you catch seventies juvenile powerhouses Lance Kerwin and Ike Eisenmann, as well as Sparky Marcus, all in a program together.

Eisenmann's voice hadn't changed yet, he was that young. I do so recall his attempts at driving away threatening forces with his robotic talk and he would close his mouth and blow out his cheeks.

He thought he ran off a bully when in fact Kerwin was standing behind him with a hockey stick.

An injured pet crow turns the tide of the story, erasing denial and bringing about confrontations with Jim Backus. Was his book legit or was it all a con?

Brilliant childhood angst of the seventies on the same pristine level with Leave It To Beaver.

Eisenmann and Kerwin connected as well as Tony Dow and Jerry Mathers did on the fifties show, which doesn't say much, but they were truly effective.

catch phrase an inspiration!!
ursulakuhn9 December 2004
I don't remember seeing the movie, i was too young at the time it was screened, but my older siblings and myself have always used the phrase "you can do it duffy moon!" as inspiration to get things done. and still to this day we say it to each other on a regular basis. i don't think any of us really remember seeing the film but it obviously made a big impression on us that still affects us many years later. None of us could remember the title and thanks to IMDb we've solved that one. I just wish i could get the chance to see this film again to remind me why made such an impression... So Shelley, Simon and Paula, don't ever forget that you can do it Buffy Moon!!!

Are you tired of only wondering about this?.....
peterarne219 August 2006
.....then by all means let me know directly at the above e-mail address so that I may arrange for a copy for you. The quintessential ABC Afterschool special (or a reasonable facsimile thereof). But don't let that suggest it's all just kiddie stuff. Everything's right in this story of a youngster's quest for self-esteem through a series of misadventures for a good cause, make that a great cause, leaving the viewer convinced that anyone can triumph over adversity as long as they punctuate their resolve with a fixed stare upon the objective at hand with puffed cheeks to go, that is. You can do it, Duffy Moon! And so can anyone once they put their minds to it, is the moral of the story here.
