Blind for who?
lost-in-limbo28 September 2009
A cheaply done made-for-TV feature I started off thinking why should I bother continuing, but eventually it started to pull me in even though it ends on a predictable flutter of hysteria with its clunky revelation.

Environmental designer Susan Brice lives a lonely life, where the death of her husband two year earlier still haunts her mind. But she overcomes that when she meets Kevin, a financial adviser and the two seem to hit it off. The romance hits sky high as they elope when in Las Vegas, but suddenly from nowhere she becomes a target of a stalker (dressed in a black wide brim hat and trench coat) that really has it in for her. Leaving unpleasant phone messages, spying on her, petty vandalism but then it gets even more dangerous as there are attempts on her life. Kevin suddenly reveals to the police and finally Susan that it might an unstable ex-girlfriend seeking revenge.

Small-scale, textbook stuff ensured. The red herrings spring up to only be cancelled out with non-effective attempts of drummed out suspense and simmering in the background an oozing, silk laid jazz score. The material is kind of all over the place in what it truly wants to be, but still manages to be quite captivating and the static direction while technically efficient limps along until its noisy, but emotionally starved climax. However the camera-work has some elasticity to it. The fetching Nastassja Kinski gives an earnest performance in the lead. Maxim Roy is wholesomely good in her role as Susan's beaten sister Justine and Gordon Pinsent eases in with his role of a classical music loving private detective.

A slow, but mildly tolerable and engaging made-for-TV mystery thriller.

better than expected

Surprisingly...this is not bad at all. Yes, it's strictly a straight-to-video/made-for-tv-movie kind of thing, but it's paced well, coherent, reasonably suspenseful, and Nastassja looks great. I say 'reasonably suspenseful' because most people will figure out the mystery 3/4 of the way into the film.

Someone's Watching

Warning: Spoilers
****SPOILERS**** Trying to put her late husband Alan's, Frank Schopion, tragic death in a hit and run accident behind her Chicago environmental designer Susan Brace, Nastassja Kinski, meets financial whiz Kevin Markson, Stewart Bick, who's the new head of her companies finance department and it's love at first sight. Smart handsome and on the ball Kevin is everything that Susan was looking for, in the last two years, in a man since the death of her hubby Alan. What Susan was soon to realize is that with Kevin came along his old flame Leslie Seeward, ???, who been obsessed with the guy since he stood her up and Left her out in the cold a few months ago!

At first using the mail to pester and harass the couple and even going so far as breaking into their apartment and scrawling threatening messages on the mirrors and windows Leslie later starts to use strong arm tactics in actually physically attacking the pair especially her rival for Kevin's affection Susan Brace! At one point hitting her from behind with a shovel at the local cemetery where Susan went to pay her respects to her late mother and then stabbing Susan in the sauna at a local Chicago gym that she's a member of! Things get so out of hand that Susan hires without Kevin's knowledge a private detective Martin Howell, Gordon Pinsent, to find out who's causing all this trouble for her and Kevin.

Whoever this Leslie Seeward is she goes a step farther in murdering Susan's boss Peggy, Victoria Show, whom she mistook her for Susan when Peggy was checking out her work in the office after closing hours. It's later that PI Howell finds out the truth about Leslie Seeward in that she's an escapee from a mental institution who's also wanted for murdering a motorist who picked her up hitch hiking on the West Coast! That little bit of information ended up costing Howell his life with an outraged and crazed Leslie being the cause of it!

***MAJOR SPOILERS*** Unknow to Susan and us in the audience the killer had set her up and placed her just where he or she wanted to. Where he or she can both end up murdering Susan and at the same time faking in being a victim in the crime as well. It was Susan's kid sister Justin, Maxim Roy, who just broke up with her abusive husband Jack, Edward Yankie, who unexpectedly fouled up the killer's plans. That's by her showing up in the right place, the Markson's apartment, at the right time and it almost cost Justin her life in doing it! Great surprise ending where the killer comes out of the shadows and goes into action in attacking and trying to murder a shocked and at the same time feisty Susan. What turned out to be a far bigger surprise is that the killer, after being dispatched from the scene, turned out to be as close to Susan as her husband Kevin was without her ever realizing it! That's until it was almost too late for her!

Pretty good for a TV-movie mystery
vchimpanzee25 August 2005
Two years after her husband Alan died, environmental designer Susan won't admit she is lonely, but her business partner Peggy sets her up with Kevin, a financial adviser. The relationship is supposed to be professional but later develops into something more.

Susan's sister Justine gets money from a trust fund (so their parents were rich), but not too much at one time because her husband Jack, who is abusive, might spend it all.

Susan starts getting mysterious messages and phone calls after a female neighbor says Susan shouldn't close her blinds because she 'likes to watch'. And then the situation escalates into something truly frightening.

Nastassja Kinski did a good job except for the accent. If her character had been adopted, it would have been understandable. But her sister had no accent. I think Kinski was trying to talk like a 'regular American' but wasn't quite succeeding, which was distracting.

The standout performance came from Gordon Pinsent as a quirky yet dignified private detective Susan hired. I liked his classical music (which he pretended to conduct), his dial telephone, and his early 1970's Chevy.

I was impressed with the lobby Susan designed in a downtown skyscraper located in an unnamed city--it even had full-size trees! Perhaps it wasn't just done for the movie but it was a great job by someone.

The mystery was interesting, and although there was some violence, it wasn't too explicit. There were many possible leads in the case, but the final solution certainly wasn't one I expected. The ending turned out to be quite exciting.

For a TV-movie, this was pretty good.

moves slow, but is worth watching to the end

this little gem is pretty decent made for TV movie.i don't wan to give anything away, but basically there's violent nut bar running around, threatening our main character Susan, played by Nastassja Kinski.if you wanna find out the whos and hows and whys, you have to watch the movie.there a a number of suspects to keep you guessing, although you might figure out who it is fairly quickly.but even if you do,it's still wort the watch.the movie builds atmosphere and suspense very slowly,so if you don't have a lot of patience you might not be able to finish it.however,if you do watch it,i encourage you to watch to the end.i think it's well worth the pay off.for me,Blind Terror is a 7/10

Blind Terror
HorrorFan19847 June 2020
After meeting the man of her dreams, Susan begins being stalked by someone who claims they are are ex-girlfriend out for blood.

A woman named Susan is left devastated when husband is killed on the way home for their anniversary. Fast forward two years later, and we see that she is still struggling with his death, spending most of her time working as the head of an event planning/designing business with her colleague and friend Peggy. She meets a man named Kevin who she's looking to hire as a financial consultant, and they have instant chemistry. Almost right away, they start a relationship which leads to a quick wedding in Vegas.

As soon as they begin their relationship, Susan starts getting messages and calls from a woman who seems to despise her. The person writes horrible words on the wall at her condo's parking spot and is spotted looking into her window from street level by Kevin. Things get worse when her condo is broken into and vandalized, followed by a violent attack. The obvious suspects are Susan's jealous sister who has always felt inferior to her sister, and Susan's best friend Peggy who seems to have a certain attachment to her. There is also a jealous ex named Leslie Seyward who Kevin claims threatened to kill anyone he ever got with in the future. All is revealed in a creepy finale.

Blind Terror is a pretty well done thriller that has a sophistication level a bit higher than your normal run of the mill made for TV movie. There are some good stalking scenes between the killer and Susan, including a tense moment in her condo's sauna when what seems to be a tenant is actually the murderer who comes at Susan with a knife. The acting was pretty good from all involved, especially from Susan's best friend Peggy played Victoria Snow who had a supporting role. Blind Terror had a very good killer reveal and twist which wrapped the whole thing up nicely.

I recommend seeing Blind Terror if you have the chance. It is a fun thriller with an ending and twist that I did not see coming. That, the acting, plus the pace of the movie makes it more than watchable.

Stylish Thriller
Jeremysnow915 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I caught this movie last night on the horror movie channel, and this Movie is very stylish. It is slow paced, but the ending picks up, furiously! It has all of the makings of a classic horror film. Suspense, Eerie Killer, and a twist. In the ending, i could kind of tell what would happen. I was like "I bet the husband has something to do with this"... then he turns out to be the killer! This movie is sure to either become a classic or a forgotten gem. I think it will turn out to be like THE PUPPET MASTER, a great movie, not so great reviews. Overall, 9.5/10

Well-acted, intriguing, suspenseful mystery with one flaw
jeff-67623 June 2012
A pretty good "who's stalking her" movie. Nastassja Kinski is very good as usual. The other acting is solid as well; the husbands, the sister, the colleague, the private detective. The protagonist, Susan, is a successful designer who loses her beloved husband on a rainy night in a tragic accident. She has inherited money from her father, including a trust fund for her unreliable sister. She doles out the money to her in small increments over time. The sister resents this but is married to an abusive jerk who spends her money on bad investments in get quick rich schemes. Susan consults with a bright and charming investment adviser and begins dating him. They take a trip to Las Vegas and get married. Then a mysterious woman begins stalking her. Her husband suspects its may be an unstable former girlfriend. The stalking escalates to harassment and attacks. Decent mystery, but with one inexplicable flaw. I won't describe the flaw so as not to spoil the mystery. Would love to inquire with the screenwriter about it though. Suspense builds effectively and there are a few startling moments. Very tame in terms of language and gore. Very economical exposition of the plot and characters, almost no wasted moments. Some very visually interesting sets and effective editing.

Blind, Just Blind

Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers herein.

I think this was a made for TeeVee production that somehow was made financially attractive to Blockbuster to stock. It is the old Diabolique play, arranged by the greedy husband. You can see it a mile away. What attracted me was the name of Ms Kinski -- just as it was supposed to.

Here is very clear proof that at least some great beauty and effectiveness in acting comes not from the actor. In Polanski's hands (literally we understand), she was hypnotizing. Here, she is talentless and incidentally unlovely.

You can have some fun with this film, though. It is so formulaic and predictable, it is so composed of prefabbed parts, that you can readily imagine how you could improve it. How you could increase the ambiguities of perception; how that could reflect on the multiple red herrings (here never red enough). I couldn't help comparing this to `Fifth Floor,' which had similar production values. It wasn't great, but it had a real actress at risk, and some rather more competent pasting together of found parts.

An Interesting Thriller
ladymidath8 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I purchased Blind Terror on DVD, it was a double feature with daughter Of Darkness which I have already reviewed. Nastassja Kinski, the daughter of Klaus Kinski, plays. Susan, a woman who was widowed after losing her husband to an accident. She meets a charming man, marries him then begins to experience harassing phone calls and threats.

She hires a private detective after the police are unable to help her and she begin to find out why she is being threatened.

Blind Terror is an engaging made for television thriller that really draws you in. Kinski is very good as the woman being terrorised as is Maxim Roy as her sister Justine and Victoria Snow as her business partner Peggy. Stewart Bick is fine as Kevin as is the rest of the cast.

It's a good movie to watch if you want something that's entertaining and not too hard to follow.

Mild Terror...
azathothpwiggins9 May 2022
In BLIND TERROR, poor Susan (Nastassja Kinski) loses her husband on their anniversary. She's also helping to support her idiot sister and her brutal, idiot brother-in-law.

Two years pass.

Susan finds love once more, and he's perfect in every conceivable way.

Uh oh!

Coincidentally, Susan finds herself being stalked by a maniac about the same time. Vandalism, assault, and murder soon follow.

This isn't a bad thriller, especially for a 21st century made-for-TV movie. Ms. Kinski is quite good in her harried role.

On a side note, it's humorous that the original DVD box said of this movie: "For mature audiences. Contains adult language, adult content, and violence." From this description, one might expect to be about to watch the uncut version of BASIC INSTINCT. Well, this film contains zero nudity, no gore, and language of the typical network television variety.

Luckily, the movie is decent anyway...
