Love is a battlefield but the enemy this time is our lovers.
Other than hurting them, no way can we avoid to be a loser. Self-respect is something only winners can take even in a love game. Love still exists but face-saving plays the main role. Hurting someone we love is not a painless thing to do but losing self-respect is even more painful. Perhaps it is a new philosophy of love in hong kong today.
The new boy friend is just a trophy showing the girl's winning in the battle. Of course, totally valueless such a trophy would become if there is no battle at all, and therefore the strangest thing is not the ending but what makes the girl too sensitive about the battle. Perhaps the real enemy to her is those people around her.
This movie gives an interesting description to this new philosophy of love. The cinematography is quite good and Cheung is a good actress. Worth seeing.
