A military veteran and non veteran will view it differently.
For any one who has ever gone through military basic training this reality game show similar to CBS's `Survivor' is certainly looked upon differently from those that have never experienced BOOTCAMP. The contestants (none of whom have any prior Armed Forces experience)are placed into a military basic training environment with professionally trained USMC Drill Instructors complete with `Smokey' cover whose job is to train and develop the "Recruits" into smartly disciplined, physically fit, basically trained military individuals. Additionally as the recruits endure the rigors of basic training the game amongst themselves is being played as to which recruit will be voted out of the squad and who they will choose to take with them (The shows own unique twist to the elimination process) with the final winning recruit taking home the half million-dollar prize. Missions with a military theme are assigned to them as a group and if completed successfully the recruits are rewarded, if the mission is a failure then the D.I.'s provide other rewards. Unlike Survivor the recruits are given three square meals a day and housing albeit Spartan so hunger, cold wet sleeping conditions and personal hygiene are not a factor. `BOOTCAMP's biggest problem is that it rode in on the wave of reality game shows created by the success of SURVIVOR. Also in todays Politically Correct, Touchy, Feely, Hugs and Kisses, Candy A** society the stern D.I.'s may be a turn off to viewers. On the other hand had BOOTCAMP been the first in these reality game shows IT might have been the show everyone would be talking about.
