Reincarnation of Sex - pornohorror noir!
andrabem-114 February 2011
Patricia (Patricia Scalvi) lives with her parents in the countryside near São Paulo. She's in love with Artur (Artur Roveder) who works for her parents. Both are very happy and full of plans, but Artur is atrociously killed and Patricia fades away in pain. Years later, the house, seemingly empty, is to let, but Artur's voice and Patricia's ghost remain there. All those who rent the house will suffer their influence and become possessed. Through sex and through violence they will be led to the point of no return.

"Reencarnação do Sexo" (Reincarnation of Sex) is not a traditional horror film - it has no suspense. On the other hand, the film is rich in atmosphere. Many scenes take place during the night and the mood is gloomy and melancholic. There are many sex scenes (softcore), but they are an essential part of the story.

"Reencarnação do Sexo" is an interesting and bizarre film. If you happen to find it, check it out, it's worth it!

A truly demented film
christopher-underwood9 October 2013
This is not terribly good but it is not terrible either. My exposure to Brazilian cinema has been minimal but I seem to recall others with much reliance on ghostly appearances. Here we seem, at first, to have quite a decent tale and it bursts into action with the first brutal and gory kill. I guess, I should mention that the film does actually begin with an extended sex scene and this should have indicated what was to come.

So with ghostly goings on and a touch of the Little Shop of Horrors, we have a mean plant that directs all the gory action and numerous people popping in for sex and getting something more. About halfway through this looks as if it will simply turn into a soft core sex movie but then it pulls back and goes for all out madness. A truly demented film.

Supernatural sexploitation horror sleaze from Brazil.
HumanoidOfFlesh30 December 2014
Patrica and a farmhand named Antonio have hot sex at a secluded farmhouse somewhere in Brazil. This makes girl's father angry and jealous.Next day he butchers Antonio with an axe.The spirit of murdered lover is ready for revenge. Some Brazilian beauties become possessed and become sex starved nymphomaniacs and bloody murders begin to happen."A Reencarnação do Sexo" features lots of pretty graphic sex-both straight and lesbian. It's very sleazy movie with fairly bloody knife stabbings, decapitations and crazy scene of death by dildo.Thankfully I managed to watch this movie with adequate English subs and pretty much enjoyed this pernicious sleaze.6 erotic possessions out of 10.

This grindhouse oddity has an unusually degenerated pedigree!
Weirdling_Wolf23 January 2014
While I readily accept that I have spent far too much of my misbegotten, B-Movie obsessed life madly trawling through the celluloid ordure of cinema's more diabolically distasteful, and morally ruinous underbelly with an altogether absurd diligence, having a no less misguided reverence for the more warped examples of transgressive cinema; and this wanton obsessiveness has demonstratively had a deleterious effect on my waning objectivity; and I continue my search for exceptionally soiled Sinema in the fervent hope that I might occasionally unearth yet another malefically-minded, morally grotty Grindhouse gem with an equally degenerated pedigree!

This monstrously off-the-wall, gruesomely unhinged Brazilian horror is frantically festooned with a perfidious profundity of libidinous activity and unbound, wanton devilry! It is all quite deliciously bonkers; and, frankly, all the better for it! Due to the film's audaciously uninhibited strangeness, wild, unfettered axe-swinging, and equally libidinous flesh-swinging, I'm genuinely surprised that Castellini's 'A Reencarnação do Sexo' (aka) Mortal Possession: The reincarnation of sex' (1982) hasn't, as yet, found a greater audience among those rabidly uncouth Gorelings who illicitly crave an extra generous portion of gratuitously phantasmagorical lewdness with their grotesque, throat-grabbingly grisly, Grindhouse fare! I must also state with unequivocal earnestness that a beautifully restored, extra features-laden Blu-ray edition of 'A Reencarnação do Sexo A Reencarnação do Sexo' is LONG overdue!

"A guarantee of fidelity, better than any man."

Warning: Spoilers
Along with Terror, Sex and Witchcraft/ Cautivo del mas allá (1968-also reviewed) this has been the top Horror flick which I found out on the IMDb Horror boards (RIP) years ago, that I've been meaning to play, but have just kept missing the chance to. Finding a Horror and Latin America & Caribbean viewing challenges taking place on ICM all at once,it felt like the best time to at last see sex reincarnated.

View on the film:

From the eyeful on Celia's favourite pass time in the opening minute, co-writer/(with Giovanni Boccaccio) director Luiz Castellini & cinematographer Claudio Portioli thrust a sizzling sleazy atmosphere into the lap of the viewer, stacking the screen with (soft) sex scenes, which hit a peak at stylishly framing the corners of the screen, on the possessed by her boyfriends spirit Patricia getting vengeance by twisting the various new lovers to a heart-attack climax.

Displaying a welcomed ambition to not just do a skin flick, Castellini bounces the raunchy sex on a psychotronic Gothic Horror axe! Stealing music from the likes of Vangelis and grinding it down until it turns into scrambled Prog Rock, Castellini unleashes a outstandingly bonkers atmosphere which leaps out from the plant pot Patricia's (played by fittie Patrícia Scalvi-who delivers the ripe dialogue with a relish) dead boyfriends head is buried in,and jumps around the reflecting tracking shots following Patricia taking a axe or knife to her next victim, along with a killing via dildo.

In the midst of Patricia's revenge, close-ups on the possessed, murderous lustful state of Ligia (played by sexy Ligia de Paula) which lands on Celia's (played by fellow sexy fittie Celia Santos) seeping suspicions on the reincarnation of sex.
