- A man says a crude joke. "Who has two thumbs and loves blowjobs? Me."
- A teenage girl tries to seduce a man by crossing her legs and pulling up her skirt to reveal her lower thighs. However, he does not buy into it.
- It is strongly suggested that an adult male was sexually involved with a teenage girl
- Rachel ends up in Detective Dormer's bed following a scene where both characters have a talk with one another in the room. It's possible the two may have had offscreen sex or that they just shared a bed together. Rachel is not naked once she appears on the bed while asleep.
- Within the first few minutes, topless autopsy photos of the 17 year old victim are shown twice.
- A female victim's nude body is shown on an autopsy table. Left breast, nipple, and pubic hair can be seen. Crime scene photos show the female murder victim. No frontal nudity.

- We see a dead man lying on an autopsy table being wrapped by paper sheets. There are autopsy photos of a woman with a very bruised and battered face and body.

- A man is chased through a crowd, over a fence, across a rooftop, along a pier and across floating timbers; one man falls through the timbers and is trapped under water for some time struggling to find a way out.
- What looks like blood seeping into magnified cloth fibers is seen repeatedly, we see a bloody stain on a shirt sleeve, blood drips on some cloth and we see a dropper full of blood, a woman has a bloody nose and mouth, and we see a young woman's bloody mouth and nose (the blood seems to be dried).
- A man shoves another man, pins him against a pole by pressing on his neck, and then holds a gun to his head.
- A man plays chicken with an oncoming truck and swerves at the last moment.
- A man has an old scar on his neck and we hear that he was cut with a knife.
- A man retrieves a slug from a gun by firing it into an already dead dog and digging the bullet out with his penknife. We briefly see a bloody hole, and the sound adds to the effect (we see bloody rubber gloves and hear squishy sounds).
- There are very quick flashes of a young woman being hit hard in the face and we hear her scream.
- A man is shot in the chest: we see this scene several times from different angles and with different amounts of blood and detail (some show the man's bloody face, some show a spurt of blood when he is hit by the bullet.

- Extreme closeup shots linger on the victim's bruised and battered body. Quick flashbacks, some almost subliminal in length, show her being beaten and her corpse cleaned by Finch.
- A man accidentally shoots another man. He dies from his wound. There is a trickle of blood down his cheek.
- A man has flashbacks of the accidental shooting, blood is seen spurting briefly.
- The final scene is built up with intensity. Two men have a brutal fight including choking and smashing each others heads off objects. A man grabs a shotgun but is shot by another man. A large visible blood spray and blood mist is seen. He then shoots the first man in the stomach. Some blood, but no wound is explicitly shown.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- A driver threatens the teenage passenger's life by swerving in front of a semi-truck and waiting until the last second to veer away.
- An exhausted driver begins to fall asleep at the wheel and jolts awake when they see a truck coming towards them, swerving the vehicle and skidding a long distance on the rainy road. Nobody is injured.
